You're basically dunn when your specialty isn't so special.

The Canucks are Dunn.

Okay, I'll stop it now

6 on 4????

Teriyaki 08-17-2020 09:12 PM

Be sad if zero shots with a 6 on 4

WD-40 08-17-2020 09:15 PM

The better team won. Plain and simple.

Down to best of three

WD-40 08-17-2020 09:19 PM

Hey, at least we get to see them play.

I'm still amazed no report of Covid in the playoffs. NHL did it right, I guess.

As long as Marchand refrains from licking or biting other players and refs.

spoon.ek9 08-17-2020 09:29 PM

if there's any positives for covid, they only have to report that a player is "unfit to play". It's the NHL's not so subtle way of hiding it if it happens.

Well, we all knew the Blues weren't just going to go quietly into the night and call it a series. They're looking like how they did last year when they won the cup. I too am proud of our group for coming this far. Is it over? Technically no, but the Blues have really come on here and are playing the exact type of hockey that allows them to win.

At this point, I'm very much okay if they let Virtanen go. He has proven that this isn't the place for him. Motte has shown way more value as a 4th line winger than JV. Sutter (who has a ton of haters) elevated his game. Beagle showed us why he was acquired. Our core is a solid group with elite talent we can build around. It's our supporting cast that needs upgrades. Also, love him or hate him, Myers is a huge part of our defense. I love the way Stecher plays his heart out for this team but the Blues are absolutely using his size disadvantage against him here.

The cap staying flat for next season really screws us. I don't know how they're going to keep players like Toffoli. This is a management failure and the only legitimate excuse they have is that they didn't expect the young guys to be as good as they are right away. Even then, this current group (having spent the absolute max cap allowable) is not as good as the other teams in similar cap situations. AKA, shouldn't have spent to the tits on a group that isn't as competitive as other teams.

St.Louis was the better team all 4 games...
They just had a bad goalie for 2 of them.

68style 08-17-2020 09:57 PM

“Conn Smythe winner Ryan O’Reilly” is this years “18 year old Sam Bennett”

I swear the announcers never realize how repetitive they are

Brian Burke was saying during the qualifying round that he thinks the cap will stay flat for 2-3 years due to the economic situation resulting from COVID... if that's the case we are fucked bigtime........ and so are a LOT of other teams... especially (and maybe the most) Toronto... which does make me feel somewhat better about things

This series is far from over. Series is tied 2-2. I am confident that the team and the coaching staff will make the necessary adjustments to win game 5.

Go Canucks go! Fuck St. Louis!!! :gun:

I wouldn’t say Blues were the better team for the early games, Canucks controlled play at times and could maintain pressure to create legitimate chances, just cause markstrom was playing at his best doesn’t mean the effort as a team is moot. The blues also seemed disinterested to begin with.

The chance to step on their throat was game 3 and the series would have been over if they had won in OT, now I feel much less confident. Although I think the Canucks have a good chance if they can win Tom.

For the fair-weather fans who only started watching again in the playoffs, this is how this team has been all season. They will go through stints that make you forget their shortcomings, then they circle back around to these stretches where they can’t establish pressure and are just creating chances from the outside. This literally happened a dozen times throughout the season in short stretches.

Hopefully they can find some way to get back into creating legitamite chances again and sustained pressure or else this series could be over in 2

Can’t believe I’m saying this but we’re 0-2 without Myers. Lol

fsy82 08-18-2020 09:04 AM

JV has to go. This guy looks like a slug on the ice. I had Gaudette gets into the lineup. I love how are team has gotten this far. No one expected this from them. If they win the series than awesome but if they don't i won't be super upset.

Goes to show two things:
- how shitty the Canucks' defensive depth is
- Despite the penalties and dumb plays sometimes, he does actually have decent vision and mobility for those outlet passes, as well as being a bigger body that he won't get pushed off the puck easily (vs Stecher).

I have always been a Stecher fan and never understood why Green was so hesitant to deploy him, however the last two games made it clear.

Edit: Also LOL

As bad as our depth has been, team's overall d hasn't been as good as before. We're slow to the puck and the past two game, it seems like STL is outskating us. I'm pretty damn impressed by Fanta so far.

JV on the other hand. It's really hard to be a fan and cheer on this guy. Has all the tools but somehow just not there.

Hondaracer 08-18-2020 10:45 AM

Completely forgot that Gaudette was the odd man out in this situation

Get JV in the press box and Guadette back in ASAP plz/thx

Benn is a downgrade from Myers for sure but he's been playing pretty well for a depth dman. Myers may have made a difference in game 3, definitely wouldn't have last night.
