I agree that no team would take on that baggage if they don't need to, especially with the ongoing #metoo thing. JV18 isn't good enough for that, and even if he's say Eichel level of talent I'd hesitate to say any team would pay him market for the negative PR.

I believe Ferland has to come to camp and not be medically cleared to play and be placed on LTIR so he can still be paid. Then we would have the cap space to sign Petey and Hughes. Thats what i think is going on. We have 10.6mil in cap space and another 3.5 from Ferland. 14mil between Hughes and Petey sounds about right on a short term deal.
