trolly i think you should still do it man. just get the new one. 55k-56k isnt THAT unreasonable. Especially when 4-5 year old versions are commanding 40-45k https://images.craigslist.org/00F0F_...co_600x450.jpg is it just the picture or are the side bolsters saggy already |
They're pretty much all like that. Must have been a larger dude getting in and out. $56k is a lot of money, and I'm a little iffy about buying Covid production cars. The CEO of VW literally said yesterday they're removing touch from he steering wheel and brining back buttons. I would be CHOKED if I had one of the touch ones. It's such a strange time for new cars. Weird/no options, shoddy QC, random tires etc. https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...steering-wheel |
Z4 is a bit different tho? It's a potentially abused example and it's 15+ year old car now |
OH IT WAS ABUSED ALRIGHT. When it showed up, it looked like someone painted it with a broom, in the wind. You could still smell the paint gassing off. The Reflector was held on with PL (yes, liquid nails). The trunk had a fishing rod, K-pop cds and handcuffs. Very cool to see someone here pick it up. That's the exact one I would get. It's perfect. What a pin. |

Weird, I've looked at the site hundreds of times and it's always the same price. Sunroof is a $1,250 option I think. These have always been mid 40's starting cars as far as I can recall. https://i.imgur.com/bCQZCDp.png |
it's cool - i'm not embarrassed by the money. I knew that I was paying a premium for the spektrum car (as I would have new also) We were 40,500 + dealer shit + tax. It has 30k kms on it. It drives like new. The dealer put brand new rubber on it. It has exactly 1 year left on the factory powertrain warranty. We looked at a lot of R's. We could have spent less, but not for a spektrum anywhere in the country. Also basically everything else we looked at had more miles. Is this a good buy? I never really said it was. If anything, I've been frustrated by my first foray back into the late model car market in a long time. Dealers are sticky and while a drop is looming it's not here yet. I wanted this car specifically, and unless one of the other 12 they made appeared in the spring, this was my chance. I'm happy w the purchase. 35, 40 or 45 won't mean that much to me as I depreciate that premium over a long time. I could have saved 10k and gotten into a GTI or a Mk7 R or even an alltrack - but they're nowhere near as special as this one. Spoiler! |
That's a good deal this this market. Glad I didn't look at it now, may have bought it. Love it. Very jelly. |
Why didn't you just get a normal one to wrap, I think it's gonna be hard to sell unless you plan to keep forever kinda thing when you choose such a niche eggplant emoji colour:lawl: |
Naw man, a wrap can't come close to the depth real paint has. That and it would set you back 4k to do it anyways. Resell it hit or miss. The people that love it love it. I'm more surprised someone leased this thing lol |
i do plan to keep it. i think I've been pretty clear that I specifically wanted a niche colour while this car isn't numbered - those who know what they are, consider them to be limited. i think 5 years from now this car will stand out over the x50 lapiz or black cars that will be for sale, and will command a premium. I have no intention of selling this car. |
i think back in the days, the lease rates on the R must have been quite reasonable. Hell nowadays a ratrolla is 5.99% lease rates. |
I hope the bring the custom color program back to the MK8 when covid is cover (2056). |

I stood in the dealer having the same thoughts but ended up getting my 996 at the time. Going to be a long time until we see those financial incentives again. Remember when there was a cash discount? Now the discount is for financing! Crazy flip. |
i remember my mk7 sportwagen was leased for 0.99% they gave me a 0.5% off afterwards for friends and family bs (since all the cars ive had with openroad) and ended up with 0.49% lease rate on a 30k car. damn thing worked out to be barely 300 something a month with 0 down for 48months. they even gave me 3k afterwards when i returned her to the dealer because i told them the residual was upside down and i was going to buy it out and private sale it. Best car ive ever owned for that price. Drove like a dream, had ample storage, and i was able to car camp in it a couple of times. That AWD almost never failed me *until i highsided myself in the sand at oceanshore WA* |
I feel VW nailed it with the MQB MK7 Platform. Only been hearing positive things. |
I wish VW would let me drive the new one. I heard the new rear diff is incredible. The MQB is sooooooo good. Love the 7.5, |
