Yea, it's Luongo's fault that the Canucks couldn't score goals in that series.

Are we even talking about the same HHOF goalie that played his best years for the Canucks? I don't think it's other people that have problems remembering.

You can get into the hockey hall of fame for being a great regular season player, which he was.

And exactly, Tim Thomas outplayed him. It's not like we didn't have scoring chances. Take Game 3 for example, we got 41 shots on net and Tim Thomas stopped 40 of them.

By contrast, the Bruins scored 8 goals on 30 shots.

MarkyMark 05-15-2023 03:06 PM

Lu's greatest achievement was gold in 2010 and even then it was an ass clenching experience where the other goalie played better

NHL Playoffs Record:

34W
35L

Man, by those standards, there'll never be a good Canucks player.

Wins and losses aren’t that great of a stat for a goalies playoff performance

Look at Osgood, Fluery, Hasek, etc etc. all these goalies that are considered playoff performers had won cups etc. they are all barely above .500

Agreed, you’re not going to go on a 10 game winning streak in the playoffs. All you need is 16 wins in one playoff season!

AzNightmare 05-15-2023 05:26 PM

Goaltending's a tough job.

You can miss the net or shoot it at a goalie's chest 9 times but if you score on the 10th try, you can potentially be a hero depending on the timing of the goal (gwg, ot).

Imaging making 1 save in 10 shots as a goalie. :lawl:

SkinnyPupp 05-15-2023 05:30 PM

I don't want to jinx it, so I'll just say: Holy shit

SkinnyPupp 05-15-2023 05:33 PM

Fucking motherfuck I jinxed it anyway fml

SkinnyPupp 05-15-2023 06:17 PM

Kraken D play so conservatively considering they have under 10 minutes until their season is over unless they score

Hondaracer 05-15-2023 06:27 PM

I wasn’t really going for anyone here but now that I think of it, fuck Seattle lol

I think Dallas Vegas is a more intriguing matchup as well

That Johnson goal was fucking sick

bobbinka 05-15-2023 06:34 PM

Too little too late

pastarocket 05-15-2023 06:34 PM

Stars win game 7.

Bye bye Krakheads!

At this point I only want to see the Kraken win it all.

This attitude is rare; Canucks fans are the most bitter sports fans on earth lol

Fans of loser teams in other sports usually try to have fun with it, except for actual rivals

Most of those teams can at least say they've actually won it at some point though, even if it's been a 50 year drought. I think a lot of the animosity here comes from being so close a couple of times and then it not happening. The city has blue balls.

westopher 05-15-2023 08:01 PM

Not many of us in Canada have been able to feel good about our team winning. I just caught a bit of the oilers dynasty. I do have a polaroid of me and Bill Ranford holding the cup when I was 5 which is cool. Back then I didn't let hockey ruin my week when my team lost though.
There really is a quantifiable disadvantage for Canadian teams. Taxes are higher, cost of living is higher, markets are smaller. Every city kinda sucks to live in for various reasons. The pressure is way more. The annoying parts of fame are more prevalent.

I'm either too "diehard" of a Canuck fan to ever bother caring about other teams. Or I'm too "casual" of a hockey fan to care about other teams.

Whichever...

When I'm not in a pool, it's hard for me to really care about any particular player or team's success other than the Canucks.
I'll just be down for watching some nice highlights or controversial goals, etc.

That's fair, I'm not really into any of the remaining teams either. Florida is really fun to watch, but.. eww, Florida.

I'm just not into the bitterness though (except for the Leafs... fuck the Leafs)

I always looked at Seattle vs Vancouver for sports. Seattle population isn't that much more than Vancouver. Kinda crazy they can support so many pro teams. The only thing they are missing is basketball. If I was a die hard sports fan, Seattle is the place to be. Love seeing their tailgate parties as well.

SkinnyPupp 05-15-2023 10:57 PM

Seattle metro area (including Bellevue and Tacoma) is around 4m, so quite bigger than Greater Vancouver. Still really small compared to most American cities that have a bunch of pro teams though... I didn't realize how small it was.

This

If anything, it was the NHL that fucked the Canucks over that recapture penalty... contract was signed before the rule came into effect like wtf? Lol

I never really understood that, a Canadian team will always be > than any American team in my opinion.

As West said, Canadian teams are already at a disadvantage with the border, higher taxes, media market, you name it. Players don't generally want to play up here either.

I've always seen a win for a Canadian team is a win for all of us. Seeing Canadian teams succeed makes the market more desirable, more legitimate, which hopefully would encourage players to want to play up here.

Imagine if every team in all Canadian markets just sucked a fat dick all the time, it would do us no good whatsoever.

spoon.ek9 05-17-2023 04:49 PM

well, it would seem we've been sucking on a fatty for 30 years straight now :alone:

SkinnyPupp 05-18-2023 04:38 PM

This Panthers game is fucking INSANE. Too bad nobody cares about these teams.
