LOL what do you write on their jerseys? You can't have 2x E. Pettersson.

SkinnyPupp 07-08-2022 10:05 AM

Bruce turned into a kid as soon as he saw him! LOL "I'm all red!"

BlackV62K2 07-08-2022 10:23 AM

Canucks leveling up from H. Sedin to D. Sedin to now E. Pettersson to E. Pettersson lol

whitev70r 07-08-2022 10:52 AM

I guess Elias is a common Swedish name?

whitev70r 07-08-2022 11:15 AM

Duncan Keith retires ...

bobbinka 07-08-2022 11:58 AM

considering they just traded for a bunch of picks yesterday and are in full rebuild, this was probably the best time to do it

BlackV62K2 07-08-2022 12:14 PM

Does that impact the Coilers cap in any way?

Actually you can and it has been done before. Rick and Riley Nash were both playing on Boston in 2017-18.
To be honest, I don't think they even bothered putting the R. since it was irrelevant.

You'll have to use the number to differentiate.

Nope but it does the Blackhawks LOL

spoon.ek9 07-08-2022 01:32 PM

Gotta love that the hawks are selling off their best young players while Toews and Kane are in the final year of their monster contracts. They're doing the opposite of what you'd expect a team to do during a rebuild lol.

murd0c 07-08-2022 01:46 PM

they will be trading Kane and Toews for sure, they are going to be meeting with Kane's agent shortly to discuss the plan.

Wow, the centre that the Canucks drafted in the fourth round today is a big player with skill:

https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/c...W32m&fs=e&s=cl

The Vancouver Canucks added some size in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

With the 112th pick of the draft, the Canucks selected Daimon Gardner, a 6’4” centre who played in the Minnesota High School circuit last season.

Gardner doesn’t just have enviable size, however, as he combines it with some serious skill. He racked up 45 goals and 83 points in just 30 games with Warroad High last season, making him one of the top scorers in Minnesota.

Elite Prospects rated him the highest heading into the draft, landing him at 54th overall, as they love his intelligent game and how he’s constantly looking to get to dangerous areas on the ice.

While it’s impressive he got 83 points in 30 games on a highschool team…. He only produced 8 points in 39 games with the USHL… so don’t get toooooooo excited haha

murd0c 07-08-2022 03:22 PM

it's a real big risk, it could pay off huge or it will be a complete bust. There is no in between.

considering they cleared some cap space, so that they could have Seth Jones contract kick in etc. its not a great thing for the hawks unless they can move both toews and kane this year haha

duncan kieth's recapture penalty eliminates whatever moves the hawks made yesterday haha

whitev70r 07-09-2022 06:54 AM

^^ If a 4th round pick doesn't make it to your roster, it's a huge bust? Really? I thought at 4th round, it'd be a 50/50 crapshoot. 1st or 2nd round pick not making it to the roster might be considered a bust.

68style 07-09-2022 08:01 AM

Good read about draft pick probabilities... 2/3rd of all NHL players come from the first 3 rounds.

https://dobberprospects.com/2020/05/...probabilities/

This chart is particularly telling:

https://dobberprospects.com/wp-conte...-per-round.png

So 4th round is only 20% chance to play 100 games.

Alpine 07-09-2022 11:51 AM

Forsberg re-signs for 8.5x8, takes him to age 35. Along with fiala signing for 7.8, it’s another good barometer for a potential Miller contract.

I bet the first round is also highly skewed because of the top 10-15 draft picks. The % of the next 15-30 players picked in the first round is probably far lower than 7x%. Top 10-15 might be 90%, 15-30 might be 60%.

If someone made this chart just for the Canucks it would almost be a flatline for the last 20 years.

Good read. In short, it's hella hard to make it into the NHL ... I mean even if you excel in minor league and you make it into the draft (which is pretty damn good), only about 60 players (on avg) from any year's draft make it into an NHL roster! There are the exceptions who were not drafted that had a long NHL career but those are super rare.

Liquid_o2 07-11-2022 09:59 AM

And out of those players that make it onto a roster, fewer actually carve out long careers in the NHL.

The Official 2022/2023 Canucks & NHL Thread

The Laffs trade for a goalie.

Matt Murray goes from Ottawa to T.O.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...-murray/680827

The Maple Leafs have acquired Matt Murray in a trade with the Ottawa Senators as Toronto looks to restock its goaltending depth.

The trade is for future considerations. The Senators are also sending a third-round pick in 2023 and a seventh-round pick to Toronto.

The Senators are retaining 25 per cent of Murray's salary $6.25 million annual cap hit (and $15 million in total salary) for the next two seasons,

Good move for the Laffs IF Murray can regain his old form?

Lol, Matt Murray is their solution?
