lots of talk about Canucks having serious interest in Guentzel (again). We definitely need a top 6 winger to play with Petey. He wouldn't be cheap though, 8-9M seems to be the agreed upon estimate.

Signing such a forward would basically mean no to a lot of our UFAs due to cap crunch.

I'd love to take the chance on Guentzel, historically the Canucks have taken too many chances with "potential" Top 6s and many "maybe come back story" signings. Booth, Vrbata, Demitra (rip), Roy, Vanek, Loui... come to mind.

HonestTea 06-19-2024 06:55 PM

Geuntzel would be amazing, I'm hoping we do!

Hondaracer 06-19-2024 06:57 PM

Never really thought much of Guentzel because we never see him but finally looked up his stats, pretty consistent 40 goal scorer damn..

Will he work with Petey though? I dunno

pastarocket 06-19-2024 07:58 PM

Potential offer to Guentzel:

Seven years, 9.5 million per year.

If we're gunning for Guentzel, we're probably turning the page on Zadorov/Joshua.

whitev70r 06-19-2024 08:15 PM

Big gamble !

whitev70r 06-19-2024 08:16 PM

Canucks don't need any more of those long ass contracts ... find 27-30 yo players who are on their last year of existing contract.

Playing with Crosby didn’t hurt..

Play with Aho didn't hurt either lol.

Can we say the same with playing with Petey?

If you commit on Guentzel long term and he doesn't gel with Petey, that will be a big problem.

MarkyMark 06-20-2024 07:48 AM

Let's just draft a guy that can put up Gretzky numbers in the playoffs, problem solved

AzNightmare 06-20-2024 12:05 PM

Guentzel seems like the real deal...
I wouldn't really consider it taking a chance. Proven player that's going to be expensive, but you know what you're getting. Not a potential late bloomer or a redemption project.

Gumby 06-20-2024 12:22 PM

It also helps that Canucks coaching staff/management have direct experience working with Guentzel.

spoon.ek9 06-20-2024 04:22 PM

To management's eyes, he's a known asset. He also proved what he can do when no longer playing with Crosby via the Canes. Mikheyev's agent has been given permission to facilitate a trade btw. More dominoes are beginning to fall after locking up Hronek.

AzNightmare 06-20-2024 08:50 PM

I hate how there isn't a game every other night. This series feels like such a drag. This scheduling sucks.

History has shown us that when a canucks player does this, they'll have a breakout season.

Boeser did it a few years ago and Garland did it last season.

Me too but if even one extra day of rest benefits Draisaitl I'm for it. That dude is crumbling apart

whitev70r 06-21-2024 06:13 AM

How do these guys get over the jet lag especially in the back half of the series when they fly back and forth every game? At least in the first four, you're at the city for a bit of a stretch.

MarkyMark 06-21-2024 07:44 AM

I guess that's why they have the extra day off between games this series with the longer flights

Big game tonight

pastarocket 06-21-2024 04:37 PM

Wow, that perfect pass from Draisaitl to Foegele.

Draisaitl seems improved compared to the last game. Before that PERFECT pass he almost beat Bobrovksi straight up on the first shot. He barely stopped it

Vansterdam 06-21-2024 05:20 PM

wild start to the 2nd

SkinnyPupp 06-21-2024 05:20 PM

Risky challenge but when your PK is this good you can take it

Panthers are cooked?? Bigger fail than us in 2011 if they lose lol

Teriyaki 06-21-2024 05:33 PM

It would be absolutely destruction if they manage to get reverse swept.
In any case, am rooting for EDM to win this purely on the basis that agame 7 will be pure entertainment.
