Yah, I still think it's just making the series 'respectable' ... if Oilers are lucky, maybe lose the series 4-2.

Sorry but I don't have faith for a reverse sweep.

I bet next game is 1 nothing win for the panthers and just a terrible game to watch, but one less thing for some other teams fan to say "Oh U GoT sWepT yoUr TeAm MigHt As WEll B lASt"

All 14 of them

Also, I didn't realize Shania looks like Paula Abdul got scissored by a Kardashian

Let's make this dramatic.

Still waiting to see a SCF game 7 OT. Let's go!

SkinnyPupp 06-15-2024 09:36 PM

It's mostly based on Bobrovski's performance. Was this a one time thing compared to the rest of the 2024 playoffs, or did he revert to last year's form, when he stunk it up and let in 4-7 goals a game against Vegas?

Oilers beat the Stars 3 games in a row, is it impossible to do that against the Panthers? We shall see!

Sorry but no lol, I'm gonna look like such a tool if Edmonton pulls this out of their ass but it's too little too late, this should have been the response when they were down 2-0. Florida is too good to blow 4 straight.

mikemhg 06-16-2024 10:36 AM

Reverse sweep would be amazing.

I doubt it'll happen, but last night was glorious.

Lets go OIL!

spoon.ek9 06-16-2024 03:29 PM

honestly, it's not much different than when Montreal won their one game. I think Kucherov said something to the effect of "that was their stanley cup". savage but true :lol

AzNightmare 06-17-2024 02:49 PM

Some guy on X by the name of Caleb M @StuffCalebSaid was giving some hot takes about the Oilers having zero class by running up the score.

He took more backlash than he could handle and limited the viewing on his posts now. lol

Anyone think it was bad Oilers ran it up 8-1?

IMO, given the situation and being the playoffs, the Oilers needed it.

MarkyMark 06-17-2024 02:56 PM

lol it's the playoffs definitely take whatever the other team gives you, it's up to the other team to respond accordingly if they are getting lit up.

Razor Ramon HG 06-17-2024 03:09 PM

I disagree with that guy.

Playoffs or non-playoffs, if you don't want to get blown out, play better.

No mercy!

bobbinka 06-17-2024 03:56 PM

class? in the playoffs?? lol...

spoon.ek9 06-17-2024 04:11 PM

playoffs is about breaking your opponent, there's no argument for class.

regular season, if the score is already high you keep playing but you don't over celebrate. coaches tend to stop putting their first unit out for powerplays too.

westopher 06-17-2024 05:05 PM

Yeah stop scoring don't be a meanie! Couldn't get much dumber than that.

Manic! 06-17-2024 05:22 PM

You never let off the gas. My nephews team was up 4-2 and then this happened. 4 goals in minute. It was painful to watch.

3rd 18:56

Hondaracer 06-17-2024 05:32 PM

I think the oilers had been crying earlier in the season when the Canucks pounded them. Old coach was upset Canucks used PP 1 when they were up 4 goals or whatever

punkwax 06-17-2024 06:52 PM

It wasn’t just the coach..

AzNightmare 06-18-2024 10:26 AM

I believe it's always up to the losing team to stop the bleeding. But I can somewhat see the case to hold back during reg season game.

But in the playoffs, it's all about momentum and the psyche of players do carry over game to game, series to series. It's also strategical. Score more goals, create a bigger buffer, and it also means you can reduce ice time for your star players and rest them for next game.

westopher 06-18-2024 10:51 AM

Maybe in a tier 4 game for 12 year olds. These fucks get paid millions to put the puck in a net.
I agree with not going out and trying to lay someone out with a Scott Steven's in a preseason game, but that's about as far as "holding back" should go.

quasi 06-18-2024 11:03 AM

It's professional sports, little kids sure it's fine to let off the gas but these are the best of the best and being paid for their work, you want them to stop scoring on you do something about it.

xxxrsxxx 06-18-2024 01:49 PM

Hronek agree to eight-year, $58 million deal

pastarocket 06-18-2024 01:52 PM

8 year, 7.25 AAV for Hronek. Clearly, Filip wanted to get paid on a long term deal.

Come on Allvin. Sign Zadorov too!

murd0c 06-18-2024 02:26 PM

for what he could of got on the open market that's a pretty good deal, especially with the cap finally going up.

bobbinka 06-18-2024 02:43 PM

finally, we can all shut up about him.

ah, a full NMC for first half off contract and 15-team NTC for latter half. that's likely what brought the AAV down.

next up, big Z and Joshua.

spoon.ek9 06-18-2024 02:56 PM

Joshua likely to seek higher term/money, can't blame the guy due to his age and this likely being his last shot at getting that cash. I really hope we can sign Z to something like 6x5.5 or so.
