One man is still in hospital after getting shot Friday night in Surrey.
Mounties say it happened near 130th Street and 108th Avenue and the victim is known to police.
A short time later shots were reported near 130th Street and 68th Avenue.
No one was found injured but police did arrest 2 men who are being questioned by the serious crime unit.
Neither are known to police.
Mounties say the shooting appears to be targeted.

Harsh... this one was actually the son of a guy my wife works with. He just died this past Friday in hospital. Kid wasn't into the gangs or anything, he was just a junky who probably stole something from the wrong person. RIP.

I guess if guns don't do the job, try a sledge hammer!
Sledge hammer attack leaves Bacon brothers gang associate in hospital
VANCOUVER — An associate of the Bacon brothers targeted in a shooting last month was critically injured in a sledgehammer beating Sunday night, The Vancouver Sun has learned.
RCMP Cpl. Peter Thiessen said he could not confirm that Tyler Willock was the victim, but did say a young man was attacked at a Langley home at about 7 p.m. Sunday and is in serious condition in hospital. He is expected to survive.
“We are not in a position to confirm the identity publicly because he is the victim,” Thiessen said, adding that the RCMP does not normally confirm the identities of victims. “We are dealing with a file where a man was attacked.”
He said he could not comment on whether there are suspects in the beating or what the motive might be, but said “we are not looking for any public assistance at this time.”
Willock was a passenger in the back seat of a Range Rover that was shot several times Feb. 16 at an intersection near T-Barz strip club on East Whalley Ring Road in Surrey.
Willock was not injured, though police confirmed last week that he was the intended target of the shooting. The vehicle driver was hit by gunfire, but not seriously injured.
Two members of the United Nations gang, including de facto leader Barzan Tilli-Choli, and three UN associates, were charged last week in connection with the shooting.
Tilli-Choli, 26, and associates Aram Ali, 23, and Nicola Cottrell, 26, each face two counts of attempted murder and briefly appeared in Surrey Provincial Court Tuesday.
UN member Karwan Saed, who is facing one count of accessory after the fact, also appeared in court. The case was put over until March 17 to fix a date for a bail hearing. A fifth accused, 28-year-old Sarah Jane Trebble, is facing one count of being in a vehicle with a firearm present. She is out of jail and due back in court March 20.
There were metal detectors and extra sheriffs at Surrey Provincial Court for the appearances in the high-security courtroom 107.
Police say Willock is an associate of the three Bacon brothers, Jonathan, Jarrod and Jamie, who are members of the Red Scorpions gang and have been targets of several attempts on their lives.
For almost a year, there has been a very public war between the UN and the Red Scorpions —leading to several police warnings to steer clear of the Bacon brothers and their associates because they had been targeted for death by rivals.
In fact, the two younger brothers, Jamie and Jarrod, who are out on bail on a series of gun and drug charges, continue to be followed everywhere by Abbotsford police to ensure public safety, Abbotsford Mayor George Peary said this week.
“It is expensive, but public safety is number one. We'll spend whatever it costs to protect our citizens,” Peary said. “There is a palpable fear out there.”
And Jonathan, as well as associate Dennis Karbovanec, are being watched 24 hours a day, seven days a week by Port Moody police to ensure community safety.
The pair face joint fraud charges laid last week. Karbovanec is also out on bail on 11 gun charges laid after he was stopped last October in Abbotsford allegedly with a loaded handgun and silencer hidden in his vehicle.
Vancouver Police Insp. Mike Porteous said last week that the battle between the UN gang and the Red Scorpions started as a turf war.
“In this particular case they’re rival gangs who originally started out [fighting] over drug territory, but the violence is a back and forth that has been going on for some time now, but it is about territory and retribution,” he said.

I don't understand why our tax dollars are being put to protect the lives of the "public" by following these known criminals around. That's bullshit. The longer the police protect the Bacon brothers, the longer the public is in danger as opposing gangs will simply go after Bacon associates.
Let the criminals police themselves.

My theory is that what they are doing is actually a good thing.
By letting all the associates be killed off it will make it that either
1) the bacon brothers are gonna have to talk to keep police protection
2) they let them out free and they get killed off
If they get killed someone else in the gang will take their place. If nobody is left the gang is done.

Man assaulted and killed in Richmond

CBC News
A man died in Richmond on Wednesday evening as a result of an assault in a home, police said.
The BC Ambulance Service was called to the scene around 5:30 p.m. PT and arrived to find the man in "severe medical distress."
Several hours spent at the scene trying to revive the man, who was in his twenties, were unsuccessful.
Police were there investigating Thursday night. They said the man died in the residence — in the 6300-block of Swift Avenue, near Number 2 road — after being attacked with a weapon.
It is unclear whether the man was the target of a planned attack, police said, but they believe the killing was not gang-related.
Police would not disclose the weapon used to assault the man.
Several people who were present in the home were taken to the Richmond RCMP detachment for questioning.

Police in Abbotsford are investigating a drive-by shooting in their city last night. They received several 911 calls around 10:30 p.m. about shots fired in the area of Brisbane Ct. and Downes Rd.
They found a home and a car that had been shot up.
No arrests have been made and it's unknown if the home, or people inside, are known to police.

from what ive heard what the Bacons did starting quite a while back is pick up debts from other people, esentially customers, then they tax the person who they are collecting the debt with even further and threaten their lives to get payment and any further debt they tack on themselves
seemed to be quite the lucrative business
Its ridiculous how much protection the Bacon brothers and their associates are getting. Theres always atleast one or two police cruisers and a black Suburban or somtimes Expedition parked outside the building where one of them lives. Tempted to snap some photo's.

With all the money involved, I would not be surprised at all if they were in cahoots with them.
Corruption can, and does, happen. Dare I say there is probably more money flowing in B.C. than in Chicago during prohibition? 6 billion was the estimate...
Sure, people might scoff, but you'd think they'd be able to catch them on SOMETHING. Someone is getting paid off, without a doubt.

Under the guise of "protection", when it could very well be that they are merely facilitating the business and keeping the money flowing?

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Surrey, B.C.
Witnesses say they heard two gunshots around 5:30 p.m. Friday outside a home in the 12900 block of 67th Ave.
Police have taped off several residences and are now interviewing nearby homeowners.
Bloodied clothes are visible in the driveway of one home, and police have laid down several evidence markers at the scene.
It's believed a white Acura was seen leaving the area after the shooting.
No arrests have been made.
Metro Vancouver has been rocked by a series of gangland-style shootings in 2009.
There have been 33 shootings since mid-January -- 14 of them fatal.
Any updates on the Richmond stabbing?

SURREY (NEWS1130) - Surrey RCMP confirm a man in his 20s was shot several times at a home near 127th Street and 67th Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and police have taped off the area for their investigation. RCMP say the shooting does not appear to be gang-related, but it was likely targeted. Witnesses say a white Honda or Accura was seen leaving the area soon after the shots were fired.
Three other shootings have happened in the area this year. A 22-year-old man was shot near 68A Avenue and 130th Street on March 3, 2009 at around 8 p.m. The victim survived and is known to police. Then, on February 27th there were shots fired around 130th Street and 68th Avenue. No one was hit, but police say the shooting was targeted. On January 26th, Andrew Cilliers was shot dead in the driveway of a home on 131A Street near 62nd Avenue. He was also known to police and said to have had gang connections.

BURNABY (NEWS1130) - All the signs are there -- another targeted shooting in the Lower Mainland.
Mounties arrived at a Shell gas station at Kingsway and Patterson in Burnaby just after 3 a.m. to find a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say it's too early to tell if it's gang related.
They have isolated the shooting to the victim's home and believe that is where he shot, however, he's been uncooperative with investigators.
RCMP Inspector Grant Wilson says the victim is expected to recover.
"He appears to be in his early 30s. He was conscious when he left, but I have heard nothing that his situation was life-threatening at this time."
The shooting happened very close to where call-girl Tammy Murray was killed in 2007.
Police should be releasing more information later today.

The first week I moved to Vancouver, I came out of superstore and heard 3 gun shots. Two days later, I realized I moved into a gang neighborhood. For four months I heard over 12 different shots. So we moved to Burnaby mountain, a month later I woke up to 7 gun shots from a targeted hit in my apartment building... week before that some woman stabbed her husband to death a few floors below me. So we moved to Coquitlam, 2 blocks away, 2 targeting shooting followed by some retard bustin off 12 shots and hitting no one. I have no reason to move again but come on... I have been here for a year and a half... where are the places that don't hear gun shots?
I live in Surrey and surprisingly have never heard gunshots. Just have to pick the right area of Surrey. I'm in the Sullivan Station area.

UPDATE: Langley man shot to death in parking lot at Surrey-Langley border
Police say it appears to be a targeted shooting
Lyle Fisher SURREY/LANGLEY (NEWS1130) 2009-03-19 15:02
Body lies under tarp beside van in Surrey (Photo courtesy Cory Burke) SURREY/LANGLEY (NEWS1130) - RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are now confirming that a body found this morning at Hi-Knoll Park at the Surrey-Langley border was a shooting victim. So far police will only say a 33 year old man from Langley is the victim, and the shooting 'has the signature of being targeted'.
People living in the area reported hearing shots around 3:30 a.m., and a passer-by found a body around 6 a.m. in the parking lot of the park at 50th Ave. (Colebrook Rd) near 196th Street. When police arrived they found the body of a man lying next to a beige mini-van.
IHIT says so far, they have not made any conclusive links to drugs, gangs or organized crime, and the victim is not known to police. Investigators are attempting to locate next of kin to advise them of the death.
Police will be conducting a canvass of people in the neighbourhood, and the E Division Dive Team will be conducting a search of the marsh area near the crime scene.
RCMP have (Colebrook Rd) shut down between 192 Ave. and 196 St. while they investigate.

Alleged gangster Dennis Karbovanec moves out of Port Moody
http://a123.g.akamai.net/f/123/12465/1d/www.vancouversun.com/alleged+gangster+dennis+karbovanec+moves+port+mood y/1407149/1407196.bin?size=620x400
ID's from left to right: Michael Jackman, Cody Haevischer, Matthew Campbell (partly hidden) James Kyle Bacon, Kevin LeClair, Jonathan Bacon, and Dennis Karbovanec.
A man linked to the Red Scorpions who has been followed by Port Moody police for more than a month to ensure public safety has moved out of the community.
Mayor Joe Trasolini confirmed in an interview that Dennis Karbovanec moved away from Port Moody Wednesday and notified the police department as required by his bail conditions on a series of fraud charges.
Karbovanec's associate Jonathan Bacon is still living in Port Moody, but also expected to move shortly.
"I am relieved and the residents of Port Moody are very relieved," Trasolini said of Karbovanec's departure. "The community of Port Moody is safe and I said from the beginning that these individuals are not welcome here."
He said he has not been told where Karbovanec has moved.
Last month, the mayor and police officials publicly warned that Karbovanec was living in their community and anyone around him could be at risk because he had been targeted by rivals.
Trasolini said Thursday that his residents have been very patient and vigilant during the difficult two months since Karbovanec came to town.
"I really want to acknowledge the residents," he said.
The close associate of the Bacon brothers was shot Dec. 31, but survived and refused to cooperate with police.
Karbovanec is out on bail in the fraud case as well as a series of gun charges laid after Abbotsford police stopped him in October and allegedly found a loaded handgun with silencer in a secret compartment in his vehicle.
He was wearing body armour.
The two younger Bacon brothers - Jarrod and Jamie - are also out on bail and living at their parents' Abbotsford home.
All four men have been tailed by marked and unmarked police vehicles for two months because of an escalation in Metro Vancouver's gang war that has led to several of their associates being targeted.
Associate Kevin LeClair was gunned down Feb. 6 in Langley and another close friend, Tyler Willock, was shot at Feb. 16 in Surrey and later beaten with a sledge hammer. He remains in hospital.
The Bacons and their Red Scorpion associates have been targeted by the UN gang since at least last spring when police issued the first public warning to steer clear of the gangsters in public settings.

Chilliwack RCMP are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting at Earl's Restaurant at the Cottonwood Mall overnight.
Neighbours reported hearing shots fired around 4 a.m.
Employees arrived at 7 a.m. to find the restaurant's front door had been shot at several times.
Mounties say it's too early to tell if the restaurant was deliberately targeted.
Anyone with information is asked to police.
At least eight bullets were fired into the front entrance of Earl's sometime Friday morning and a warning to Bar Watch members scrawled on to a back wall of the restaurant.
"Bar Watch members will die, 1 down, 1 2 go," the spray painted message read.
Raffaele Aiello, general manager at Earl's, has not yet commented on the incident.
Other members of Bar Watch could not be reached at this time.

A man killed in what police say was a targeted shooting in a Surrey park early Thursday was a house builder and the son of a prominent Langley developer.
Marc Bontkes, 33, founded Designmarc Homes. He was the son of Robert Bontkes of the Benchmark Group of Properties, a successful family-owned venture that includes construction, property management, and commercial, industrial and residential land development, mainly in the Surrey-Langley area.
Marc Bontkes, who had a wife and a young child, was killed in a targeted shooting at Hi-Knoll Park, but police said they had no evidence yet linking him to any gang, drug or crime activity.
“We have not made any clear association links so far in the investigation. That may take a while,” said Cpl. Dale Carr, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
Carr said there was nothing yet to establish this shooting is related to any of the others that have rocked Metro Vancouver in recent months.
Bontkes was convicted in 2001 of assault and uttering a threat, but Carr said he was not “known to police” in any substantial way.
Carr said it was too early in the investigation to determine whether the shooting was a case of mistaken identity.
John Titus, owner of Homelife Benchmark Titus Realty, worked with Bontkes, selling the homes the young man built through Designmarc.
“Marc was a tenacious young man. He had a super-big heart,” said Titus, who lives in one of the homes Bontkes built. “It would get to him when a homeowner wasn’t happy with a house, like having a squeak in the floor.”
While an emotional Titus said Bontkes had a wild side, he stressed there was no indication the man or his friends were involved in anything criminal.
“None of these guys were gangsters. There were never any weapons,” said Titus, who was left wondering what his friend was doing in the Surrey park in the middle of the night.
“What he’d be doing at Knoll Park at 3:30 in the morning, I don’t understand that. I don’t get that. That doesn’t make sense to me.”
Carr said that is also the question police will be trying to answer as they interview Bontkes’ friends and relatives this weekend.
“That is one of the biggest questions we are trying to answer: why he was there, who he was there with, and what was he there for?” Carr said.
“We’re hoping people will come forward who knew him, who can offer some insight on Marc. His family has been very helpful and cooperative.”
Police believe Bontkes was shot in the location where his body was found, and Carr said a minivan parked nearby did not appear to be linked to the victim or any suspect.
Dale Kirkland, a realtor with Homelife who worked with Bontkes, his brothers and his father for about eight years, said the family was very well-respected.
“Marc was a great young fellow, and we’re going to miss him deeply. No one deserves to end up this way. He had a heart of gold and would have done anything for anyone,” Kirkland said.
“He was very conscientious and caring, and he took great pride in producing homes that he built.”
A Facebook site created to remember Bontkes says his funeral will be held March 25 at the Canadian Reformed Church of Langley.
“Marc held a very special place in the hearts of his family and friends,” the site says.
Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-543-9217 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

I live around the 3 and williams area, i dont understand why we need so many po cars rolling around pulling good people over for no reason ? i mean fuck, yesterday i saw 3 people getting pulled over, twice with double po's behind him both flashing lights. WHY?! YOU NEED 2 FUCKING COPS TO PULL OVER ONE PERSON? Why dont they move these po's to places that actually need it ?
Later at night i saw 3 po cars with unlit lights just chilling at a nearby school ....

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - After a week long break there's been another shooting in Vancouver, this time at the Cassandra Hotel on Kingsway. It happened just after 2 a.m. when someone started firing shots into a hotel window from a back alley.
People staying at the hotel say they heard what sounded like fireworks but quickly realized it was 10 to 12 rapid shots. Colin was in the room below when the shots rang out. "I don't think these buildings are too safe….I wasn't sure if there were going to be bullets coming through the floor or not. You hear about crossfire and people getting hurt. That was frightening for us."
Police say five people in their 20's were in the room and were targeted. One man was hit in the arm, while the other four were arrested after heavily armed Emergency Response Team officers closed in on the hotel. Three came out with no problems, but one stayed in the room until just after 5 a.m.
Police found no weapons in the room and they say someone targeted these guys but they are not connecting them to gangs at this point.

I have someone close to me working for integrated homicide and they are far from incompetent. They are certainly working plenty of overtime lately and not publicly closing many cases, with a lack of innocent victims. The true competence of this situation will be tested when certain individuals are brought before our judicial system and should be made example of..
To put it simply they aren't looking too hard to take down and prosecute trigger men and errand boys wiping out opposing dirt...
I understand Police can be as corrupt as those these seek, but have some faith in the men and woman working 20 hour days to help work towards making your streets even a little safer...

Sean Murphy
VANCOUVER — Two young drug dealers working for the Red Scorpion gang have been confirmed as the victims found killed in Abbotsford just nine hours apart this week.
Sean (Smurph) Murphy, 21, was gunned down in a targeted hit Monday night as he sat in his car at Bateman Park. His friend, 19-year-old Ryan (Whitey) Richards, was killed a few hours later and his body was found off the Trans-Canada Highway on the Abbotsford-Chilliwack boundary.
Const. Casey Vinet of the Abbotsford police said Wednesday that investigators were still looking at whether the cases are connected in any way.
But The Vancouver Sun has learned that both Murphy and Richards were part of a front-line drug crew for the Red Scorpions.
They are both listed as Facebook friends of Steve Ahuja, whose relative Sunny is a close associate of the notorious Bacon brothers, all big players in the RS. Sunny was charged along with middle Bacon brother Jarrod with attempted murder after two men were shot in January 2004. The charges were later stayed when the victims refused to cooperate.
The Ahuja family home was targeted on March 11 in a drive-by shooting and last summer, 17-year-old Jose Buxton was shot to death in the same house at 4026 Brisbane Court, though charges against a youth were later stayed.
Murphy was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car about 10:30 p.m. Monday, while Richards was found in a grassy field about 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 39000 block of No. 3 Road beside the Yellow Barn produce store.
Murphy was shot to death. Richards’ cause of death won’t be finalized until an autopsy is done.
“Police believe these homicides are not random and that there is a strong possibility the victims’ own criminal lifestyles led to their deaths,” Vinet said.
Murphy got a nine-month conditional sentence a year ago in Abbotsford Provincial Court after being found guilty of possession for the purposes of trafficking. He signed a year-long peace bond in the summer of 2007 after being charged with one count of “fear of injury.”
A warrant for Richards’ arrest was issued last week after he was convicted in January of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was on probation at the time of his death on an assault conviction from last summer.
An associate of both young men was warned last week by the B.C. Integrated Gang Task Force that he had been targeted for death by a rival gang.
Sgt. Shinder Kirk said the task force has continued to visit gangsters to complete “duties to warn” — a legal obligation if police have specific information about threats to individuals.
“We have done numerous duties to warn not only in the last couple of months related to the recent gang conflict, but previously related to other cases as well,” Kirk said Wednesday.
Jonathan, Jarrod and Jamie Bacon, along with associate Dennis Karbovanec, have also been the subject of public police warnings because of the risk of associating with them since the rival United Nations gang waged a high-profile war against them last May.
The two latest cases are being investigated by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Tip line at 1-877-543-9217 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

What i dont understand is why all of a sudden drug dealers are all coming out and start killing each other? thought they would all just keep it low, sell drugs to A and B walks off happily ever after....continue to do so each day.
Yet instead Van has become a drug war now, thought the point of selling drugs is to make money, not to kill ppl like how serial killers behave.

Unfortunately, I think the death of these two "front-liners" is more of a statement killing then trying to take them out of business.
Rival gangs are sending a warning to anyone that associates themself with the Red Scorpion gang.
Furthermore, who knows what these two guys have done to "prove" themselves to join the Red Scorpion gang in the first place. They could have been killers too.

Crack is not a drug that high rollers or normal people do.
Crack is a drug that turns people into fucked up zombies. You don't do crack and then go out and party or socialize. You do crack and then you wig out and act sketchy and paranoid. Crack should be recognized as a medical problem.
People use crack to escape from life. I can't think of a single situation where it would enhance anything.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Just before 1 p.m. today homicide investigators are making a major announcement about the Surrey Six massacre. The Vancouver Sun is reporting Red Scorpion associate Dennis Karbovanec has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the killings back in October 2007. Records show Karbovanec is due to appear in Vancouver Supreme Court April 9th on the murder counts and conspiracy.
The home of Jamie and Jarrod Bacon, known associates of Karbovanec is also surrounded by an Emergency Response Team in Abbotsford at this hour. We're hearing guns have been drawn and dog teams are also on scene.
The bodies of six men were found following a gangstyle killing in the Surrey highrise. Chris Mohan and repairman Ed Schellenberg were innocent victims of the crime.

Karbovanec plead guilty this morning already, kinda almost sounds like he flipped on the other 2.
Red Scorpion associate Dennis Karbovanec has pleaded guilty to three counts of secondt-degree murder in connection with the Surrey Six massacre on Oct. 19, 2007.
Karbovanec pleaded guilty in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver Friday to the killings, as well as one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
Three others were also charged, including Jamie Bacon, 23, Matt Johnson and Cody Haevischer and were being arrested by Emergency Response Teams.
All are linked to the Red Scorpion gang.
Steve Brown, the brother-in-law of one man killed in the slaughter at the Balmoral Tower apartment 18 months ago - said he was relieved at the charges.
Brown’s friend and relative Ed Schellenberg was an innocent passerby on the 15th floor of the building fixing the gas fireplace when the killers arrived.
“I think credit has to go to the IHIT detectives. I know they have had two teams of detectives working full-time and all the credit goes to the police,” Brown said. “We need to get justicve for Ed so that his wife Lois and his two adult kids can have closure.”
A second innocent killed was Chris Mohan, a 22-year-old who lived across the hall from the death penthouse and was on his way to a basketball game when the killers arrived.
His mother Eileen has been a tireless crusader against gang violence ever since.
Meanwhile an Emergency Response Team has surrounded the Bacons’ Abbotsford home. Neighbours say guns are drawn and dog teams are searching.

Since when is putting away murderers a bad thing? Who cares WHEN they were killed? There are families still reeling from the losses of their loved ones. I didn't know time had any relevance to someone being caught for murder or not. But what I do know is if someone killed one of my family members, an innocent bystander, I would devote the rest of my life to finding the perpetrator.
As for what gang goes into power, I don't give a shit. These gang wars are resulting in the death of innocent people. Wives and girlfriends are being killed and almost a 4 year-old child. If taking out one gang is the solution, then I don't give a fuck.
Because if this shit goes on, in mall and grocery store parking lots, my mother, your sibling, someone's child could be dead.
Put them in jail. They'll get taken care of in there.

I'm thinking it was cause he knew his time was up and he didn't want to get knocked off. It looks like he rat'd the other guys out kinda. He prob got a sweet deal he couldn't pass up.

Anyone with half a brain knows this won't even put a slight dent in the 6 billion dollar B.C. drug trade.
Does anyone know, before this rash of shootings, how many years(?) or months(?) was there a lull in violence?

Obviously.
But some of the comments towards these arrests display absolute stupidity and insinuate that it would be better if these guys were on the streets

RCMP say 23- year old James Kyle Bacon has now been charged with the First Degree murder of Corey Lal.
24 -year old Matthew Johnston and 24- Cody Haevischer have been charged with Conspiracy to Commit the Murder of Corey Lal, and with the First Degree Murder of innocent victim of Ed Schellenburg, Corey Lal, Michael Lal, Edward Nurong, Ryan Bartolomeo and the second innocent victim Christopher Mohan.

uh... what I dont get is how can they charge anyone with first degree murder of the innocent guy?
First degree murder is a murder which is (1) planned and deliberate, (2) contracted, (3) committed against an identified peace officer, (4) while committing or attempting to commit one of the following offences (hijacking an aircraft, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping and forcible confinement or hostage taking), (5) while committing criminal harassment, (6) committed during terrorist activity, (7) while using explosives in association with a criminal organization, or (8) while committing intimidation. [48]
I dont think they planned on killing that guy. Whoever ordered that hit didnt know that guy was there so they couldnt have contracted them to kill him. He wasnt a cop.
And so on.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong and someone can correct me. But I think they should be charging them with first degree murder for everyone but the plumber guy. That should be second degree. Dont get me wrong. I want them to throw the book at these guys. I'd hate for them to get away with the one murder that actually really mattered though.

section 231(5) reads that even if it wasn't planned and deliberate, it is first degree murder if they are attempting or committing the offense you listed. If a death results from those acts they are guilty regardless of any pre-planning.
I am assuming the individuals charged went in with the clear intention of kidnapping or at least forcibly confining anyone inside with the clear intent to hold them against their will. section 279(1)a. That act resulted in the eventual death of those inside. So they may not have pre-planned to kill the plumber guy but they still intended to kiddnap everyone inside.
or you can argue that they fully went inside to kill everyone inside, and from the very beginning they planned to kill everyone inside even though they didn't know who was going to be there. The plan wasn't to kill certain individuals but all individuals inside.

One man has been shot dead while sitting in a SUV in the Boston Pizza parking lot at Grandview Hwy near Rupert St.

Yup, he was doing a job for one of the Bacon brothers and was innocent and had no gang ties. He was driving a Porsche Cayenne GTS that belonged to one of the Bacon brothers so he could install a deck. His GF got hit as well because she was driving behind. Supposedly she's disfigured from the shooting.
something interesting i heard about the guy that got killed in the bacon's cayenne, apparently, he builds sub boxes with hidden compartments in it, not sure if it was true or not

TONS of cops and ambulances blocking off SW Marine Dr right in front of Denny's (near Cambie). Another shooting? Seems like a pretty overwhelming response by the emergency folks.

http://www.vancouversun.com/business/killed+targeted+shooting+outside+Vancouver+corner+ store/1471213/story.html
VANCOUVER — Another man is dead in a targeted shooting outside a corner store at 70th and Marine in Vancouver.
The man appears to have gotten out of a silver BMW to go into the store and was shot when exiting. His body lay beside the car at 11 p.m. Monday as police cordoned off several blocks.
Shots rang out about 9:40 p.m., neighbours said.
There were two batches of gunfire, up to 12 shots in all.
At least 12 police vehicles were on the scene. Ambulances responded, but left once they saw the victim was dead.
The body lay near a service bay of a gas station next to the store. The BMW — an older model convertible — was still sitting with its engine running two hours after the shooting. Cheryl Dycke heard the shots and a woman screaming.
Dycke had just been leaving for the store from her apartment across the street.
“It is quite shocking. I thought it was a robbery,” said Dycke.
She said more people could have been hit as the store is very busy.
“I thought it was fireworks at first,” she said. "I hope they catch the guy."
Police canvassed low-rise apartment buildings across from murder scene looking for witnesses.
Many lined 70th Ave. watching the action unfold.
Traffic was being diverted off the busy thoroughfares through neighbourhoods.
The shooting comes after the brutal slaying Friday of Wendy Ladner Beaudry near Pacific Spirit Park and the shooting death Saturday night of a 24-year-old Vancouver man.
The victim in that homicide was David Phong Quoi Banh, who was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of a white SUV in an east Vancouver restaurant parking lot on Saturday night.
"It appears to have been a targeted shooting, but it’s too early in the investigation to confirm that," police said in a statement earlier Monday. "Mr. Banh was not known to police."
Monday night's death marks Vancouver's 12th homicide of 2009 and the region's 31th.
