Regarding the Maple Batalia murder 2 Surveillance videos have been released of the suspect vehicle
its a White Dodge Charger

Looks like there's graphics running down the side of the drivers side from that 2nd video (maybe its just a reflection)
either that or One Shitty White Wrap Job on a Black Charger,hmmm...my speculation...and maybe tinted front windows??.

The Maple murder is becoming a bit bizarre, I thought it would be an open and shut case but I guess it's a bit more complex.
So is her ex not the killer? Or do the cops not have enough evidence to charge him yet? I've heard rumors that the ex hired someone to kill her, I've also heard some comments like why was she studying so late and alone just days after an assault which occurred 5 in the morning.
Many of these questions can be asked but that is neither here nor there...Why weren't her parents more aware of her personal life? Why isn't their more security in the area, how can a place as ghetto as Whalley, swarming with police, not have managed to have apprehended these guys shortly after.
I guess it is a little more complex than we all know. It's very frustrating for me cause I really want this shit to be figured out, have these douche bags that killed her arrested and sent to prison for life, and move forwards, get closure for the family. A friend of mine who is a member, told me that the RCMP does have solid leads and probably has a suspect in mind but aren't able to tell the media until they get it solidified. Now that I see surveillance videos being released, I don't know how much truth there is to that.

Definitely white with what I think is one of those cheesy graphic decals that a lot of Dodges have. Possibly a dealer installed special edition. I don't think there is front tint. On the 2nd video as the vehicle passes under the light it appears you can see through the front window. The rear is heavily tinted though.
Either way, I agree with you guys in that it's disconcerting to see the police release this information. Either they are trying to bait their suspect or they really don't have anything solid to move on.
It's also a shame that security cameras are of such poor quality. What purpose does the first video camera serve if one can't read out a license plate? I doubt it could make out someone's face if there were an incident on the ground below. If a security camera can't meet it's sole purpose, what good is it?
Kind of surprised this is the only footage they could retrieve from what is a densely commercial area. Especially considering the amount of junkies running around there.

SURREY (NEWS1130) - Surrey RCMP are investigating a stabbing on a transit bus overnight.
Inspector Dan Splinter tells News1130 it happened just after midnight on 72nd Avenue near 128th Street. "An 18-year-old male intervened in an altercation on a public transit bus and was stabbed in the chest by a male who fled on foot."
The man is in serious condition.
"A friend of the primary victim then intervened by striking the suspect with a baton and the secondary victim received a minor cut," Splinter adds.
The suspect and his female friend ran away; a police dog was brought in, but failed to track them down.

Speculation...only one article that I've read has mentioned the baton and we certainly don't know whether it was his or what exactly the weapon was.
If the friend had a baton and intent to use it, charges would've been discussed and considered, don't you think?

I'm not assuming that he's bad. But I don't think you should assume that he was a good kid either, especially when baton carrying points to signs that he was indeed not a good kid. I just don't think people should be jumping to conclusions here. Jumping to conclusions that he was an innocent is just as a bad as jumping to the point where he was a trouble maker.

I'm not responding after this...You're not making consistent comments.
You initiated by saying that I shouldn't assume that the kid is a "good kid" and I pointed out to you that I never assumed, I said it "seems" like he is.
You have failed to appreciate the difference between saying something that is known to be true and something that is perceived to be true.
Then you said "good kids don't carry batons"...Again, implying that the kid (the one that passed away, the one we are arguing about) was carrying a baton. That's a DIFFERENT point from "good kids don't hang out with kids that carry batons." Try and be consistent and accountable for the things you post. If you're shown to be wrong about something (not saying you're opinion is wrong about the entire situation) admit to it, move on and respond in an appropriate matter than continuing to argue nonsense like you are.

I couldn't agree more. I've noticed recently that if you want to get news first, News1130 Twitter account is the place to be. It takes the website awhile to publish information in a presentable manner vs Twitter posts that are immediately published.
Irrelevant whether you posted one thing earlier, your latest post contradicted what you had posted earlier implying that not only was the murdered boy hanging out with a kid who had a baton (making him bad) but also that he was CARRYING a baton (again, making him bad.)

here is something that surprisingly went low key...
Bal Buttar died from infection yesterday
Gang hitman and blind quadriplegic Bal Buttar, who for years terrorized rivals across the Lower Mainland, has died after suffering an infection in a long-term care facility.
Funeral services for Buttar, 35, were held quietly Wednesday at Delta's Riverside crematorium, The Vancouver Sun has learned.
Buttar, who was paralyzed in an August 2001 Vancouver shooting, turned to a Sun reporter in 2004 and confessed to a string of gangland hits.
He admitted he arranged the execution of notorious cocaine trafficker Bindy Johal, his own crime boss at the time, fearing Johal would turn on him if he didn't kill first. Buttar claimed he found God and wanted to steer kids away from the path he had chosen. And he said that he didn't fear the consequence of his confessions because his severe medical needs meant he couldn't really go to jail.
He was never charged in any of the murders.
Buttar's reformation didn't last long. In 2007, despite being bed-ridden and hospitalized, he attempted to arrange a hitman for an acquaintance who wanted to kill her husband. Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty in that case.
Police are calling the drawn-out demise of the notorious gangster the end of an era.
They said the ruthless way Johal, Buttar and their contemporaries dealt with each other in the 1990s spurred on the current generation of violent The Vancouver Sun L gangsters who take to public streets to resolve their conflicts.
"He was there right at the start of the real The gang Vancouver issue Sun in brand the Lower is a highly Main-visible a land," to Supt. ensure Tom it always McCluskie, appears consistent head and of fa the Gang creative@png.canwest.com. Task Force, said of Buttar. "In his day he was also a very violent individual."
McCluskie, a longtime Vancouver police officer, dealt with Buttar and his brothers Manny and Kelly, many times, going back to the mid-1990s. Bar Height
Kelly Buttar was gunned down in December 2001, while Manny is before the courts on a number of charges.
"Bal and his brother were actively involved in some very serious incidents back in my Vancouver days. Kidnappings and extortions," McCluskie said. "He seemed to be at the centre of a lot of the crime that was going on at the time in the Lower Mainland."
Const. Doug Spencer, a former VPD gang specialist who is now with Transit police, also had many dealings with Buttar.
"I know he was an extremely violent hitman who did all of Bindy's collecting and killing - self-admitted - he carried a reputation all over the Lower Mainland. Everyone knew him," Spencer said.
After his catastrophic injuries, "he went from this absolutely tough, untouchable guy to just a mere crumble of what he used to be."
Spencer heard from officers who guarded Buttar in hospital that the gangster had tears streaming down his face every morning after he learned his brother had been killed.
Buttar grew up in Richmond and was involved in petty crime as a teenager. But his criminal career heated up after he became a cellmate of Johal's in early 1997.
In a series of interviews between 2004 and 2007, Buttar not only admitted to killing Johal, but he also said he was involved in the July 1998 Vancouver murder of Vinuse News MacKenzie, the unsuccessful October 1998 attempt on Johal associate Peter Gill's life, the September 1999 hits on Kuldip Singh and Vikash Naidu in Richmond, the March 2002 slaying of Jaskaran Singh Chima and the June 2002 murder of high-profile gangster Robbie Kandola outside his Coal Harbour apartment. The last two were done by Buttar's crew in retaliation for the murder of his brother, he said.
He lived his final years in a longterm care facility, listening to shows on television and receiving very few visitors. He told The Sun he still had bullet fragments embedded in his brain. His speech was often slurred and he struggled to move his head from side to side.
Spencer, who does presentations to students about the dangers of gang life, said Buttar was the poster child of the worst possible fate.
"He was living an existence worse than death," Spencer said.
Buttar's gang was "the first that went right out there and was ripping off other drug dealers on a regular basis," Spencer said. "They also started a taxing thing - if you didn't pay them tax, you couldn't sell drugs in their area."
Many of the gangsters engaged in the violent lifestyle today wanted to be like Johal and Buttar, Spencer said.
"That's who they were aspiring to be. And now a second generation of them are starting to suffer the same consequences - death, jail, drug addiction," he said.

Gunmen sought in targeted Burnaby shooting (http://www.theprovince.com/news/Gunmen+sought+targeted+Burnaby+shooting/5778728/story.html)

KBolan: I also heard something about a Surrey one Sunday about 6:30 a.m., in the 8200-block 122A Street. No one was injured.
KBolan: I agree that it is troubling that we are not writing up each of these. For starters, our newsrooms are much smaller, so there are fewer reporters on shift during the weekends and evenings when most of these happen. Secondly, some RCMP detachments, do NOT send out releases when these shootings take place, so we don’t always hear about them, which is unfortunate. Neither Burnaby nor Surrey did a release on these two shootings. By contrast, Maple Ridge did, which is why we all did stories. There used to be a more comprehensive central RCMP data base of news releases. Now that data base only has releases that have been translated into French. So we have to fish through individial detachment’s sites looking for new releases, which is very time-consuming. Having said that, I did search both Burnaby and Surrey’s sites looking for details of these shootings, and neither has a posting about their incident.

MEtRO VANCOUVER - Delta Police are investigating what they believe to be a targeted shooting of two individuals last night around 8 p.m in the 9200-block of 114 Avenue in North Delta.
Two individuals in a Mercedes Benz SUV avoided several gun shots from an unknown number of suspects in a red sports car. Of the two shot at, one is known to police and has gang affiliations Delta police said.
"At this point, we're not going to reveal who they are," said Delta police spokesman Const. Ciaran Feenan.
Feenan would not say if the two were cooperating fully with police, but that the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
Police are looking for a small red sports car with tinted windows and a rear spoiler.
Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact Delta police at 604-946-4411 or, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

ah thanks Stylin, lol @ Gresiuk couldn’t say how many shots were fired at the front the building
how incompetent are they ? maybe they know but won't release info, but I'm pretty sure their forensic team is a bunch of morons who cant retrieve shell casings and bullets out of walls..
It was 6 fckin shots fired into the lobby, I know this and I wasn't even there for fcks sake, I know what car was parked outside it was a black SUV that was outfront with some guys inside just creepin, even know the race of the assailants, and I know this cuz it's what other tenants saw and told others, and I doubt the cops got this info
And when she says Some people leaving the building Monday morning even professed ignorance about the shooting.
it just means that pretty much any normal person sees the police as pathetic and unable to solve a majority of these shootings in and around town. So what benefit would a tenant have giving the police all this information knowing if it gets back to them that they snitched, they'll get shot and once again there will be another unsolved shooting police can't figure out, lol, fckin eh, there is a reason they dont put these shootings in the news anymore
I witnessed this myself few years ago at this Korean bar in Burnaby, dude got whipped inside, then dragged outside and shot right in the belly 4 or 5 times in front of at least 50 fuckin people, I was standing 10 feet away watching it happen, cops showed up 20 minutes after... 20 MINUTES AFTER A FUCKING SHOOTING TOOK PLACE!!! I think even Mexico City has a faster response time than VPD/RCMP and when they did get there so disorganized runnin around like chickens with they heads cut off, obviously started questioning everyone...
obviously without results because I saw the shooter in an elevator going up with me a month later, that shit didn't even surprise me
oh the guy lived btw, saw a news paper the next day that said dude was in stable condition, it was a small caliber handgun, if it was anything bigger like a 9, guy would've died on the scene cuz he was shot literally from the guy standing over him pointing gun at his belly

TORONTO (NEWS1130) - An investigation into two Toronto street gangs involved in a bloody feud has led police to the Lower Mainland.
A 24-year-old man from Surrey was one of 60 people arrested in Ontario, Alberta and BC.
Toronto police say the rival Young Buck Killas and G-Siders gangs are linked to shootings, drugs and prostitution.
More than 70 homes were raided in three provinces in the investigation.
SURREY (NEWS1130) - Surrey RCMP won't say why heavily armed officers are surrounding a home in Whalley.
News1130's Kim Seale flew over the scene near Gateway SkyTrain Station where police brought out a tank Monday evening.
"You know it's something serious in Surrey when they bring that little armoured personnel vehicle out. That thing was driven right down University Boulevard and parked right in the front of this house, very close to where it attaches with SkyTrain and King George Boulevard up by Gateway," she said.
She says Mounties with flashlights have been looking for something or someone behind the home.

http://www.news1130.com/news/local/article/310681--woman-who-was-killed-while-child-was-in-backseat-identified
Vancouver Police have identified the victim of yesterday's shooting at 49th Avenue at Bruce Street as Thuy Yen "Jenny" Vu. She has four children ranging in age from three to 17.
The 38-year-old mother was shot dead in her SUV while her toddler looked on yesterday. Constable Lindsey Houghton says the three-year-old boy is safe and being cared for by police and the ministry.
"He should be writing a letter to Santa and celebrating Christmas but now he has to figure out why his mother was shot in front of him. It is completely unacceptable," he explains.
Police are still looking into why this mother was targeted and shot several times.
"I don't have any information as to if she has just arrived at home or if she was preparing to leave but the car when we first arrived was parked, it was stationary... and it was running, the engine on," he adds.
Investigators say Vu was not previously known to police. She lived with her kids and husband; he is not considered a suspect.
Police are still interviewing witnesses and have not made any arrests. If you have any information, you're asked to call 604.717.2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477

just reading more information on the web.
"Nothing random about woman’s death in car, Vancouver police say"
Vancouver police were well into an intense investigation to try and figure out why Ms. Vu was the victim of the city’s latest targeted shooting, and the 14th Vancouver homicide of 2011.
While it’s early, police are saying there was nothing random about the attack. Someone targeted Ms. Vu for reasons police are now trying to figure out.
Constable Houghton said Ms. Vu was not known to police.
However, he was more guarded about her husband. “We are not releasing or confirming her husband’s history,” he said, adding Ms. Vu’s husband is co-operating with police and is not now a suspect in the case.
Property records list Ms. Vu as a hairstylist and Stephen Michaelson, a businessman, as joint tenants of the home.
“The only thing I will say is that we are looking into all of Ms. Vu’s possible connections – whether family, friends or other associates,” he said. “In any investigation, especially ones that are complex like homicides, we don’t know where the investigation will lead.”
He said there is no indication now that the case is related to gangs. “However, that could change depending on what information is uncovered by investigators,” he said.
a Bruce Street resident, said “My wife isn’t scared because this is not a case of a mad dog on the street. Somebody doesn’t just come and shoot somebody just for the hell of it.”

Homicide at house party in Surrey
Details about the victim not released
SURREY (NEWS1130) - A 28-year-old man is dead after being shot at a house party in Surrey early this morning. It happened at 132nd Street and 67 A Avenue.
The victim is not known to police and his name won't be released right now. Investigators say it's likely he died of the gunshot wound, but an autopsy has been scheduled to confirm that.
No arrests have been made and investigators will spend the day talking to people who may have seen or heard anything.
"There was anywhere from 30 to possibly 50 people in that house and when this shooting occurred a lot of the people dispersed. We are asking that you come forward and call the IHIT tipline," says Sergeant Jennifer Pound.
She adds that it doesn't look like the shooting was gang or drug related.
If you have any information you can call the IHIT tipline at 1.877.551.IHIT or Crimestoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS.

Breaking: Another deadly shooting in Surrey. Mid-20's man shot and killed this morning near 9500 block of 125th street.
via CKNW
SURREY (NEWS1130) - A man in his mid-20s has been found dead of gunshot wounds on 125 St. near 95 A Ave. in Surrey. Police were responding to shot fired in the neighbourhood Tuesday morning.
The body was found in front of a home. Neighbours report hearing gunshots between 7 and 8 a.m.
It's the latest in a string of fatalities due to gunfire. Bradley McPherson was killed at a Christmas Eve house party. Alok Gupta was killed while working in a Surrey convenience store Christmas Day. A woman was shot in the chest at a home on King George Boulevard also on Christmas Day, but she is expected to survive.
And a 38-year-old man was shot in a drive way in Langley on Boxing Day.
Police don't beleive this latest shooting had anything to do with the Boxing Day shooting, but both involved the victims being found in front of suburban homes.

One man hurt in Surrey shooting
It happened around 11 O'clock Tuesday night
Andrew Hopkins Jan 04, 2012 02:50:36 AM
SURREY (NEWS1130) - A late night shooting has sent one man to hospital in Surrey. Reports of shots fired were called into police just after 11 O'clock Tuesday, along 53rd Avenue, not far from Colebrook Elementary.
RCMP Inspector Dan Splinter says the victim suffered very serious injuries.
"It appears the result of some sort of altercation; perhaps a debt being owed. A male was shot and he has been taken to the hospital via helicopter."
Splinter says the scene has been locked down, and plain clothes officers, along with a police dog are in the area. He says they have a suspect, but no one has been arrested.

Surrey’s Latest Shooting Victim Uncooperative: RCMP | Vancouver Sun (http://blogs.vancouversun.com/2012/01/05/surreys-latest-shooting-victim-uncooperative-rcmp/)
A man shot in the leg as he was being driven around Surrey last night is not being cooperative with investigators, says Cpl. Drew Grainger, of Surrey RCMP.
In a telephone interview, Grainger confirmed information tweeted earlier this morning by Scan BC that a shooting victim had been located in the 3700-block of 184th just after 11 p.m. last night.
The man is expected to make a full recovery. The wound was a “through and through.” And the victim, a 35-year-old from Surrey, is not being particularly helpful, Grainger said.
It was the second shooting in two nights in Surrey...

SURREY (NEWS1130) - A man is dead and another injured after a gang-related shooting in Surrey. This marks the second murder of the year in that city and the third across the Lower Mainland.
It happened near 139th and 56th avenue around 11:30 last night. Two men, aged 27 and 28, were hit in the targeted shooting. Both were taken to hospital where one died; the other is in critical condition.
Many neighbours called News1130 early this morning to describe what they saw and heard. One woman tells us she heard six or seven shots.
"After that, we saw the cops come through into the yard with flashing lights, telling them to come out and freeze. All of a sudden, we heard 'gun shot wound to the head, in the car.' The car was running in the driveway with the light on.We then saw cops running to the car with the dogs and one cop telling another that there was a gun shot wound to the head and it was in the car."
She lives right next to the house where the shooting happened. She tells us the police came to her door. "We have cameras throughout our house and they wanted to come look at the surveillance video and wanted to see what it could capture."
"They told us that someone will be coming in the next couple days to get the video and stuff," she adds. "It's pretty scary. They told us that we can't come out and asked us how many shots we heard."
Homicide investigators say one of the two victims are known to police, but they won't say which one.

Standoff, shots fired in Surrey
Two men arrested
SURREY (NEWS1130) - Two men have been arrested after they locked themselves in a Surrey home causing a long standoff with police this morning. There were shots fired while one of the men stood on the balcony.
Mounties cordoned off an area around 64th Avenue and 128th Street for most of the morning to deal with the situation.
No one was hurt and some neighbours spent the night elsewhere as a safety precaution. It's unclear if police will recommend charges.

METRO VANCOUVER - Police are continuing to search for a person of interest who fled officers after the shooting of a 22-year-old man near Surrey Memorial Hospital late last night.
The victim was found suffering from several gunshot wounds on a walking path in a park-like space in the vicinity of 92nd Avenue and 138th Street just after midnight, RCMP said Tuesday morning.
Several people from surrounding homes had called 911 reporting multiple gun shots.
"He was found . . . face down in a pathway," said RCMP spokesman, Cpl. Drew Grainger. The man had been shot in his torso several times. He was taken to hospital in serious condition.
The victim cooperated with police, providing the first name of his attacker as well as a description of a newer model Jeep Cherokee that he said was involved, Grainger said, noting that the victim is known to police.
Police stopped a vehicle matching that description a short distance away at 77th Avenue and 144th Street, Grainger said.
The driver fled as police approached the halted Jeep. He ran behind a nearby residence.
Officers surrounded the home with the help of police dogs, thinking initially that the man had gone into the residence.
"Visual contact was lost and a dog track was not established," Grainger said.
They seized the Cherokee, which appears to have been stolen, he added.
"We don't have a full name or a date of birth for this person of interest," he said, noting "[the investigation] is still very active and we're trying to track this guy down."
The person of interest is described as white, 6-feet-tall, and wearing a ball cap.
Grainger said the shooting was certainly targeted, but doesn't appear connected to recent gang-related activity in the Lower Mainland.
Surrey RCMP continues to investigate the crime scene and is canvassing the neighbourhood.
Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

identity released guess those commenters were right guys name is Brandon Howson, 26 and known to police (a drug trafficking conspiracy charge)
Pitt Meadows homicide victim known to police (http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Pitt+Meadows+homicide+victim+known+police/6092816/story.html)
METRO VANCOUVER - A young man killed in Pitt Meadows Tuesday has been identified as 26-year-old Brandon James Howson, of Maple Ridge.
Sgt. Jennifer Pound, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said Howson was known to police and "it appears that this homicide was targeted."
"However, it is too early to speak to a motive or any gang affiliation," she said.
Howson had been ordered to stand trial in B.C. Supreme Court in April after being arrested with nine others in a trafficking ring that operated in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows in 2009.
He had no other criminal charges, but had faced a number of driving offences.
Howson was found in a field late Tuesday morning by a passer-by near 224th Street and 144th Avenue.
Pound said the specialized Lower Mainland Tactical Troop attended at the scene Wednesday to conduct an area search for any evidence that may assist IHIT investigators.
She said it invesigators are trying to determine if Howson was killed somewhere else and dumped where he was found.
And she said police are looking at whether Howson's death has anything to do with a series of tit-for-tat gangs slayings between two rival groups of criminals.
Since December 1, 2011, there have been 12 murders across the Lower Mainland, including the high-profile slaying of gangster Sandip Duhre in Vancouver Jan. 17.
Pound said IHIT is urging anyone with information about Howson's slaying to call investigators at 1-877-551-4448 or email ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
Despite his criminal links, Howson was not shy about filing his own suits in Small Claims Court.
Last November he took a former girlfriend to court, claiming he had given her a total of $702 throughout 2011 to help with her insurance and other payments and to buy a cellphone she was supposed to give to him.
"I have two witnesses to this matter," Howson wrote in his claim.
The young woman responded in court documents saying "Brandon was my boyfriend and gave me the money to help me out. I tried to pay him back and he refused to take the money two times."

Surrey RCMP responded to a shots fired call about 9:30 a.m. Sunday and found a man in his 50s had been hit in the stomach.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, the man, who is well-known to police, opened his door to find five men waiting for him. One shot him.
The shooting took place in the same apartment complex in the 13300-block of King George Blvd. where a woman was injured in another shooting over Christmas.
Surrey has had a number of non-fatal shootings this year.

Police make arrest, find burnt vehicle in North Delta after early-morning Surrey shooting

METRO VANCOUVER - Aaron Tam was once a mixed martial arts fighter in Surrey.
Now the drug trafficker targeted in a shooting Tuesday morning is fighting for his life.
Tam, 28, was gunned down just after 6 a.m. after pulling his rental car over in the 14300-block of 92 Avenue.
Surrey RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger said investigators don’t yet know if he was planning a drug deal or had been concerned someone was following him.
“He is not cooperating with us at all,” Grainger said.
Tam got out of his blue rented 2012 Hyundai Elantra and was pushed to the ground. His would-be assassin opened fire.
“He was shot in the leg area, up to the torso and up towards the head,” Grainger said.
“He is shot several times, left on the side of the road. And then the gunman takes off in the car. And despite his injuries, he has the where-with-all to actually get across the road and go to a neighbouring residence, knock on the door and summon help.”
Tam was also able to give a good enough description of the vehicle before he was taken to hospital where he remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon after surgery.
About 90 minutes later, police in Delta were called to a vehicle fire on the edge of Burns Bog. The vehicle description matched Tam’s Hyundai. And residents in the area reported seeing two young men fleeing near trail entrances in the 7300-block of Bates Road.
Within minutes, officers found a 21-year-old suspect - his hands badly burned from trying to light the car on fire - but the second man escaped into the dense brush of the bog. A search lasted for several hours, but was then called off.
Grainger said investigators are still trying to figure out a motive. Tam is well-known to them for his involvement in the local drug trade.
He has a string of convictions dating back a decade and some gang connections - in August 2010 he was charged with trafficking in Surrey along with Christopher Iser - who was later arrested in Kensington Park by the Gang Task Force, allegedly in possession of guns and in the company of several others linked to the so-called Dhak group. The joint trafficking charges faced by Iser and Tam were later stayed. Iser is currently on trial on firearms charges in Vancouver Provincial Court.
The quiet dead-end street where Tam was shot only has houses on the south side with wooded trails covering the north side of the street. It is known as a spot where suspicious vehicles conduct late-night drug transactions.
“It is certainly a good place to hide to do your business. I know when I was a patrol guy and I worked in the Whalley area, that was where we saw suspicious cars all the time, Grainger said.
Investigators don’t know if the attempt on Tam’s life is linked to his trade or gang connections he has.
“This guy is heavily involved in the drug trade and we know organized crime is heavily involved in the drug trade,” Grainger said. “But a direct connection to any of the organized groups that we are currently monitoring, I can’t say that for sure.”

^ I have the misfotune of knowing Christopher Iser very well, he is a horrible human being. He has personally been involved in kidnappings, torture, shootings, stabbing, not to mention selling crack, E and coke on a large scale. He also takes his infant son on drug deals. His father, sister and brother all grow weed for a living, whole family is fucked up. He has been arrested so many times but always seems to get off, I hope this time he gets what's coming to him.

guy found dead in north van they're not sure if he killed himself or was killed
North Vancouver RCMP is investigating a suspicious death overnight on Prospect Road near Rondoval Crescent.
Cpl. Richard De Jong said a man’s body was found beside a burning vehicle after 10 p.m.
Neighbours reported hearing a loud explosion and looked out to see a black sedan in flames.
The dead man had a gunshot wound to the head, according to a ScanBC report.
But De Jong said it has not been determined if the dead man was murdered or whether he may have taken his own life. More information is expected later today.
There are been several shooting deaths across the region in recent weeks.
In the first month of 2012, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and Vancouver Police were called out to six new murder files, compared to just one in the same period last year.

Three men who were associates of slain gangster Sandip (Dip) Duhre were ambushed by several gunmen as they arrived at a Surrey house Tuesday night.
Just one of the three – 28-year-old Harm Gill – was hit by the would-be killers, who opened fire just after 10 p.m. Gill remains in a Metro Vancouver hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two men – who police say are “associated” to the house in the 8800-block of 131 Street – were not wounded.
The Vancouver Sun has learned that Duhre associate Asif (Ace) Aslam lives in the house where the shooting occurred and Aslam’s brother Tariq lives nearby.

SURREY (NEWS1130) - Two separate shootings kept Surrey Mounties on their toes last night.
The first happened in an apartment building near 133rd Street and 104th Avenue.
Staff Sergeant Murray Hedderson says Surrey RCMP received the shortly before 10:30 p.m.
"A single shot had come through the ceiling of their unit and was laying on their kitchen table. It was determined that the shot had come from the third floor unit and passed through a second floor unit. No one was injured in the ground or second floor unit."
Staff Sgt. Hedderson adds heavily armed officers surrounded the third floor suite, called out the people inside, and then arrested one man who is known to police. No one was hit by the bullet.
The second incident happened just before midnight as someone fired multiple shots at a home near 88th Avenue and 128th Street.
"The residence had been shot multiple times," explains Staff Sgt. Hedderson. "No one in the residence was harmed. The shooting was not random and the residence was targeted by the shooter."
Staff Sgt. Hedderson adds this shooting does not appear to be gang related.$ "Occupants of the home were not previously known to police."
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed either of these incidents or observed the vehicle fleeing the area in the second shooting to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.

Murder victim identified in Aldergrove shooting - News1130 (http://www.news1130.com/news/local/article/339557--murder-victim-identified-in-aldergrove-shooting)
An update to this:
Source: Langley Times - Two arrested for Aldergrove grow-op (http://www.langleytimes.com/news/142694005.html)
Two men arrested for the marijuana grow operation connected to last Friday’s murder in Aldergrove made their first appearances in court this week.
Craig Challenger, 27, and Taylor Mears, 32, are both charged with production of a controlled substance in connection to a grow-op in a home in the 900 block of 272 Street.
Both men have been released and are expected again in Surrey Provincial Court on March 26. Challenger doesn’t appear to have any criminal background. Mears however was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2000 in White Rock.
On Friday night, Surrey resident Korey Tyler Kelly, 25, was shot to death while attempting to rob a grow-op that the two men are now charged with cultivating.
They were interviewed as persons of interest in the crime but have not been charged in connection with the murder of Kelly. No arrests have been made in Langley’s first homicide of the year.
Langley RCMP’s drug section went into the Aldergrove grow-op home the day after the murder. They dismantled a grow-op of more than 590 plants, said Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.
The drug section only focused on the grow-op, so she didn’t know if other evidence was seized from the home.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team believes Kelly, along with two associates, attempted to rip off the grow-op at 272 Street. That’s when Kelly was shot multiple times.
Kelly’s associates managed to get a bleeding and unconscious Kelly into the back seat of their car and drive away, calling 911 in the process, said IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
Police officers en route to the 911 call were flagged down by Kelly’s associates. The victim was taken by ambulance but died on the way to hospital.
Kelly had a history of ripping off grow-ops, including an attempted murder charge involving a violent home invasion, grow rip in Surrey in 2004.
He was sentenced to a year in prison for that crime, but was sentenced to a lesser charge of breaking and entering.
He had been actively committing crime for a decade, facing numerous charges for possessing firearms, after being banned from owning them, as well as possession and production of drugs and breaching his conditions.

here's a little more to the story
http://postmediavancouversun.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/vpd-at-shooting-march-17-2012.jpg
Vancouver Police are investigating a double shooting outside an Italian restaurant in the 1000-block of Alberni, between Thurlow and Burrard.
Two victims were taken to hospital after being shot about midnight.
Here’s what VPD Insp. Bob Stewart told us at the scene about 1 a.m.:
“It was approximately midnight tonight, outside a restaurant in the 1000-block of Alberni. Patrons were leaving a restaurant – it appearts at this point. Gunmen approached, fired a number of rounds. There are two victims. Both were taken to the hospital. We don’t know their condition at this point. It is very, very early in the investigation.”
Asked whether the shooting appeared targeted, he said ”It has the hallmarks of that possibly being the case.”
The victims were taken to hospital and police have not yet been able to talk to them.
Some of the passers-by I spoke to seemed non-chalent about another suspected gang shooting in the downtown core. Several passed by the police tape and cars with lights on without even stopping to ask what happened.
I am sure we’ll learn more later today. I have a couple of photos just taken on my I-Phone, so NOT professional quality.

turns out there was another shooting in the early AM
Police across the Lower Mainland were busy overnight with three targeted shootings – two that appear to have gang links and one domestic.
In Vancouver aboutg 2:45 a.m. a 20-year-old was shot near Commercial Drive and First Avenue as he was out walking for friends. The gunfire came from a vehicle and police say he was targeted. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
“The vehicle fled and the man was rushed to hospital,” Const. Lindsey Houghton said in a release. “While there is no clear motive at this stage in the investigation, investigators believe the man was targeted. There have been no arrests and is currently no suspect information available.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
And police were called to the Safeway parking lot in the 10300-block of King George Highway in Surrey about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday. An man was shot in in the abdomen. He is expected to survive. Above is a photo of the Surrey shooting scene.
The victim is known to police and witnesses say he ran into the Safeway to get help.
And in Mission, RCMP were called to another shooting in the 8000 block of Manson Street Wednesday night. Another man was shot and transported by air ambulance to hospital. The latest from Scan B.C. is that the suspect was located in the back yard of the house, dead from a gunshot wound to his head.
It appears this is a domestic-related shooting where an ex-boyfriend shot the current boyfriend, then killed himself.
