I'm pretty sure the owner of dales alignment picked that one up but he didn't keep it for long. Picked up some mugen parts and parted it all out. I'm pretty sure there's a thread on Honda-tech

Anyone know if this ITR is still around?

as of few years ago yes, low km and stock
1315 or 1317 is also low km around that time frame, but with jdm front

the one you're referring to sold for low to mid-teens in the early 2010s, there should be an ad on here if you look hard enough...was sold to someone close to the shop

Thanks guys. I think I found the the last listing in Apr 2013 for 01 1316 for 16k OBO with 62kms (!) My friend owned it in 2006 in Nanaimo for about 8 months. Paid 25k and sold for 27k. It had 47,000 kms at the time and was all stock.
https://www.revscene.net/forums/683162-01-integra-type-r-very-low-km.html

It's eye opening seeing how cheap these cars were in 2010-2013. They were just depreciating cars. Rebuilt: $6k Clean title 197km: $8500

Also I am so damn lucky the CDM red seats are still in my car. The first owner tried for 6 months in 2003 to sell a set for $650 US on Honda Tech and they finally sold to a US buyer. I wonder if they were the original fronts or if he got a spare from a friend and put the better ones in his car. Who knows.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/sale-10/fs-01-canadian-front-itr-red-seats-475731/

In 2002 the owner of an 01 CDM in Vancouver traded plus cash his red seats for black ones from a 99 ITR. Some people hated the red seats (and some prob still do!).

https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-type-r-8/if-i-trade-my-01-cdm-red-seats-01-usdm-black-seats-will-devalue-my-trade-sale-value-302788/

I thought it was slightly pricey at the time, my colleague who picked it up said clean ones will fetch 20k...I didn't believe him but like a year later it became all too true

it saw autocross and maybe even track, tell your friend his old girl was put to good use and not just an appreciating garage decor haha

The seller was kind enough to share with me how the ITR auction went to down on Sunday. 00 PY 245kms $9880 clean title, two hits 7k and 15k

The first person to show up at 2pm sharp offered full price. The seller told him that since he was first to arrive and if no one offered more that it was his. Two others (who already had ITRs) offered full price as well but not over. He sold it to the first buyer at full ask.

8 people showed up in total.

After 17 years of ownership he is moving on to a new Subaru BRZ.

Nice to see someone else who likes the CL9 Euro-R enough to buy one legit (instead of just rebadging an NA-spec TSX). The CL9 is my attainable/long-term goal dream car

I've seen a few TSXs on Vancouver CL with JDM parts/badges, but I admit I've never seen one in the flesh. Rebadged Integra R, on the other hand, all the time (both NA-spec DC2s and RSXs)

About a year ago I found a listing on the Toronto Kijiji site for an RHD DC5 (2001 model year I think) with 85,000 km on the clock. They were asking $29,995.

Holy shit. And I thought the local CL listings that ask $10-12k for an S15 was outrageous. I kind of don't blame people here for rebadging NA-spec RSXs to avoid the Paul Walker Tax. I bet it was Grade R/RA (or had a doctored odometer) too

You take an R or you just go?

I flew both times. Flew to Orlando and then caravaned up to Virginia International Raceway with a group of attendees for Expo 8. For Expo 9, I flew to a buddies house who lived in Chicago and then we drove about 1.5 hours to Jolliett to the racetrack.

I can not stand it, i am downgrading my FK8 Type R brake pads.
the natural brake sequel is driving me nuts. i am trying to use it as a daily.

maybe i will save the pads for track days.

I tried bedding them as much as possible.

I know it is very common in PORSCHE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUNHb9O52WQ

but i would probably get something like this.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000COCOBW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1

That's probably why you are averaging 6.7L/100km.....gotta drive and brake harder hahaha!!

Joke aside, the brake squeal is noticeably louder when it's colder out. Today was relatively warm and mine definitely was much quieter.

Trying to get the car back to stock. The only mod was an intake. Is the stock intake type r specific? Or will a GSR or non vtec intake one the same?

Here is the current state. Car was quite dirty when i got it and lots of contaminants in it. The clay bar got quite a bit of it off.

tofu1413
03-14-2018, 10:12 PM
hopefully silencer box is still in there as its unique to the type R:

AUTOPEDIA: 1997 Acura Integra Type R Air Intake (http://autopedia.com/Acura/97_TypeRintake.html)

if I remember correctly, the intake housing box should be the same, but the intake arm should be different when it comes to oem as the GSR used a unique two stage manifold, and the ITR used a short runner, B16A style intake manifold.

A nice touch for resto mod will be a black Samco Intake arm. will work great, looks stock and has smoother airflow than stock arm.

and its back for the millionth time:

Tofu is correct. The air inlet tube is ITR specific. Mine had a GSR OEM air intake and the tube to throttle body opening is larger on the ITR. Mine had a blue silicone reducer to make it fit. Previous owner had a GSR prior and installed a green lit GSR CD player. Lucky I got the OEM intake and amber CD player from an OG ITR owner in Vancouver.

I hope you have those metal tubes connecting the intake to valve cover etc as they are discontinued. You can still order the air inlet tube and air box brand new.

So recently my oil dipstick tube came loose. Noticed after a day of autox. Cleaned it up and reinstalled with a slight squeeze of the tube to make it oblong and permatex ultra grey. Thanks jasonturbo for the advice. I also installed a new oil dipstick ($28 after tax) as mine was severely corroded and missing the orange wrap at the top.

^ I am jelly. I hope to go to VIMC again this summer since no ferry or hotel cost for me.

Amazingly all three LHD ITR on Vancouver Island are tracking still. Ray's PY is heavily modified and has been tracked for years. The other very modified 2001 CDM (forgot his RS name) autocrossed on Sunday.

No garage queens over here. However we will all be struggling for parts one day soon. Some are spending thousands to stock up on spares and rubber parts. Next on my list is windshield moldings and maybe quarter windows.

Prostrho
04-04-2018, 11:26 AM
I'll keep tracking and driving mine. Type R are meant to be driven and this weekend was a perfect example of why it's such a usable car.

Took it to Vimc on Saturday for a track day jumping curbs and bouncing off the rev limiter. Then did a Tofino tour with my wife in it for the Easter weekend with enough space for all my tools and spare parts in the car along with our luggage. Took the ferry back on Monday night and i jump in it and I drive it to work on Tuesday. All it needed was a bit of oil and the car drove perfect in all conditions without a hiccup the while getting 8.5l/100km in normal driving.

There isn't a lot left that is true OG NA ITR so I think the price is too high. It's not even Championship White anymore. Front end gone. Original seats, steering wheel etc gone.

All you really get is a a true ITR chassis to start with and even then you would want it to be checked out to make sure it is straight. JDM front often means front end hit from what I have read.

White rocket we need more details. Is it staying in Vancouver?

Yes, it sold to a local buyer with whom I have known for a long time. One of the best possible scenarios for me. I'll let them chime in if they want.

The reason I sold it due to time and money constraints as this car was built to be used as a tool on the track and that costs time and money, which I don't really have anymore with kids and a mortgage. Constant maintenance and costs for tracking just aren't in the cards for me at this point in my life and it would have been a shame to just let it sit. It took a few months to come to that conclusion and once I did it was time to let her go.

I kept my 2000 #0768 as the forever car and will slowly refresh it over time(not that it needs anything really). I'd love to be part of the Japanese Collector Class at shows in a few years.

It sold for $5500 USD + $275 USD buyers fee. Taxes 13% in Ontario plus let's say $500 CAD for a rented trailer and fuel from Laval.

$6950 CAD + $350 CAD + $903.50 CAD (tax) + $500 = $8703.50 CAD
Plus an out of province inspection if needed in Ontario.

This is why Quebec has such a bad reputation. JT did get his 997.2 GT3 RS in Quebec but that is on another level.

not a big fan of their cars. theyre even worse than Ontario cars and our fellow frenchmen love to smoke in them.

my R is my from Quebec but maybe stored inside its whole life? It seems to not have alot of rust from what i can tell. Ive taken the carpet/seats right out, front bumper, rear bumper and fenders off and inspected it all and its not to bad.
What does the seller mean by "The carproof has an independent user"?

96' spec four lug ITR's should come with the Non SRS wheel.

seen a few 98' spec on BMI without them as well. probably airbag was an option in Japan.

i think the airbag was an option for the 98+ cars. some of the 98 specs have no radio or airbag.

Mine is a no A/C car.

tofu1413

I think radio was standard on all NA cars. same with rear wiper.

NA cars had the regular rear glass (i think the JDM was thinner)

A/C was a dealer installed option

Add to that North American 97 ITR had no rear wipers. They added the rear wiper for 98-2001 ITRs

A/C was a dealer installed option

Not available at all in 97, dealer installed in 98(and 99 in Canada), selectable option from the factory in 2000 and 2001.

Radio was never a delete option in North America. Yes, JPN had the "race base" model in 1998 spec which had no airbags, no ABS, no A/C and no power steering/manual rack from the factory.

My 2000 did not come with A/C from the factory but my friends 2000 PY did have it from the factory. He bought it off my friends dad who ordered it brand new in 1999 from Burrard Acura.

^^I always liked that comparison although the Ferrari wheel has a slightly better design. I like the grip cut-off rather than the ring that follows the circumference of most of the wheel on the '98 spec JDM ITR as it is known for peeling back and looking like poo.

same yet different on that old maserati 3200 GT

speaking of the AC, the dealer installed AC unit on the ITR was a bit different from the GSR. I think i read that years ago on Honda tech, apparently the system was a bit lighter than the standard integra system. maybe the AC compressor itself was unique?

The front JDM Recaros are definitely better. But I think what makes the 01 CDM seats so expensive is because they were the only ITR's that came factory with the red rear seats. People are just paying for the rarity factor not the feel.

Ya I read Recaro provided the fabric exclusively for Honda/Acura ITR seats. Which means the black ITR seats are also Recaro fabric. The weave is the exact same on both seats. Its just one fabric is black and the other is red.
