I lucked out on my airfare. I purchased my ticket a couple of weeks into April for $458 CDN including taxes, round trip from Vancouver. I'm going the last week of October, so that might be a contributing factor as it's not peak season for tourists. |
you also managed to get it before everyone went apeshit with the fuel surcharges this week ;) |

so this morning at 3 a.m. I get woken up.. I get up and see some guys truck sitting right behind some other cars back bumpers and there's smoke coming from under the hood. The kid starts swearing and I think the truck caught on fire, so I'm getting ready to call the fire department. My neighbour below me comes out and told someone to call the fire department so I figure I don't need to make any calls. A couple minutes pass and I'm still thinking this truck is on fire so I keep any eye to see if anything happens. At some point I realize, hey this kid has smashed into the cars parked along the side of the street at my apartment building. He's walking in the middle of the street screaming "OH MY GOD, a deer ran out in front of me and I swerved". This kid proceeded to scream "OH MY GOD' every few minutes. I figure this kid is on something because of how he was acting. I can understand being distraught, but screaming loudly in the early hours of the morning every few mins is not something you should be doing. Thank god the cops showed up about 30 mins later, and the fire truck came and left a few minutes after that. The ambulance showed up at some point and I'm not sure if they took the kid away or if he was placed in the back of the cruiser cause I didn't see him again after about 3:45 At around 4:30ish the tow truck showed up and since it was lighter out I was able to better see what had happened. The kid was heading down the road on the right hand side and ended up hitting the vehicles parked on the left side of the road. He hit the back end of 1 vehicle and hit it hard enough so that he ended up pushing the first hit vehicle into the 3 vehicles parked beside. The kid was driving a pickup truck, (it looked like a newer silverado but it was early and I was tired so I could be wrong) and the front hood was smashed in quite a bit. The tow truck removed his vehicle and I guess the two most damaged vehicles and left the 2 remaining vehicles there. I checked the remaining vehicles out this morning and theres quite the dents in the back left fenders. The shitty thing is, as the kid screamed out in one of his screaming fits, is that the truck was his parents truck.... Sorry about the long post and if it's not proper sentances. I was able to get maybe 30 minutes of sleep between 3 a.m. and 7 when I had to get up to get ready for work so the brain isn't working too well right now. I'm hoping I can make it throughout the day, but I think I may end up taking the afternoon off to have a nap so I don't end up going to bed at 7 tonight lol edit: according to the news (there was a little blurb on 98.3 at noon) he was drunk... stupid kid |
drove a turbo john deer tractor around a field for a few hours today. probably would have been more fun if it wasn't work... EDIT: i mean skidder... one of these bad boys http://www.lumbermenonline.com/items...Image_2940.JPG |
A buddy nearly rolled his K5 at postil with 9 of us in it. Slid off the trail and went into the bog almost upside down. I broke thru the side window trying to hold myself up with 2 people ontop of me with water coming higher and higher inside the truck. Not something I want to go thru again, but in all good fun I'll be at it again in the morning :2finger: |

I just gave my notice, I hate being on call and not getting any standbye pay. |
this is how my friday night went: Well, I was working my job at panago and as I turned left I heard/felt a clunk from by the right wheel well. Nothing had fallen off. I took one more delivery and listened to how my car sounded and when I was in 1st and 2nd it was louder than normal, it just didn't sound right. One of the guys I work with apparently is mechanically inclined so after I was done my shift and doing cash out I was waiting around for him to have him do a quick check over. I was standing outside talking to this guy that works at the greyhound depot a couple stores down in the same strip mall. I told him why I was waiting around and he said there's a mechanic at his house, which is right beside our back parking lot. He called the guy over and I let the guy take my car for a quick test drive after I explained what happened and how it sounded. He came back and said (I think, I can't remember for sure now) that it was the strut. He then popped the hood and was looking under and we saw a screw sitting up near the top right hand side and then we noticed that the screw had come off the engine mount. It's hard to describe, I'll take pics tomorrow, but pretty much the piece thats's suppose to be screwed together is sitting up and at an angle. The mechanic guy said it's not safe to drive, so just leave it overnight and call Napa in the morning to tell them I need new screws for my engine mount because these ones have been compromised.... |

saucy you still drive teh civac? if so, dont let some clown work on your car please, i work at the honja dealership here in kelowna and we see alot of cars that some "mechanic" has "fixed" and it ends up costing the customer way too much $$ for my guys to go in at $100/hour to make things right again. find a nice reputable private shop in the loops with some import experience and get them to jsut handle it for you it may seem like alot of $$ at first, but if you can PM me with the exact terms they use as the problem, i can maybe guide you along so you dont get raped |
jeff no I sold the civic in april. I bought a sunfire back in nov. Yes I know, a sunfire, lol.. but I like it and this one has been really good to me so far. The only reason I had this guy look over it was so I could get a rough idea what was wrong before I drove it home. I have two reputable mechanical shops that do my work; one is enhanced. My grampa is a mechanic as well so we're going to have him fix it since I doubt I'll be able to get it into a shop today, and it's cheaper. Thanks for the concern about getting raped, but I use Enhanced and a mechanic that my step dad has used for many years so I know for 100% that neither of them are going to be dishonest with me, hell both of them even give me discounts when they can. |
so at 7:30 this morning my step dad drove me over to where I left my car last night. He was thinking we might be able to drive it from the middle of North Shore up the hill to batchelor heights (to my grandparents house). We get there and my stepdad sees this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...oman/ricki.jpg I call his mechanic, hoping he's even open on a Saturday. He answers but he's booked solid. I give my step dad the phone, they talk for a bit and I end up driving it over there. I dropped it off with him at 8:10ish and at about 10 mins to 9 my stepdad phones and says it's ready to be picked up and it's only going to cost $20, :) I gave him $25 though |
Ah, dropped the engine mount bolts. Simple fix :) My brother moved out of where he was at and I finally got the remainder of my stereo goodies returned. I'm almost thinking that dual subs in the house may be a little... overkill. Got em on either sides of the couch. Time will tell :buttrock: |
