gourgous!

fourtirefire 05-24-2007 06:33 PM

sweet.. it's finally here!
Now get driving that thing!

girlcrazy_420 05-25-2007 12:05 AM

I dont understand why the BOV is on the exaust side of the turbo... or is that a bov?

girlcrazy_420 05-25-2007 12:10 AM

Advanced the timing from 4btdc to 11btdc, 11psi of boost, Set the TPS Via ohm-meter (yeah, finally did it properly), got the intercooler re-tig welded to withstand the vibrations from the engine and uhh... I guess that is all.

On a side note, the TOB is starting to squeal like a motherfucker, so I got a clutch kit on order. ACT and Centerforce arent options for the sprint, so i'm forced to fun a dynapack... Mabye i can find a option for a lighter flywheel while things will be apart.

SaviorSelf_666 05-25-2007 02:06 AM

Its a external wastegate, not a bov.

underscore 05-25-2007 07:15 AM

I want one!

so instead of opening/closing a valve inside of the turbo, it re-routes the exaust when it reaches a preset boost level down a secondary pipe?

Saturn2nr 05-25-2007 12:50 PM

pretty much. you can recirculate it back into the exhaust system or dump it into the atmosphere. pretty much it just regulates how much boost is being created to protect the turbo from spinning beyond its capabilities and burning out. an internal wastegate wouldn't be able to handle that big of a turbo.

mannslayer 05-25-2007 12:52 PM

are u sure its an external wastegate? i would assume that turbo came with an internal wastegate stock. essentially a wastegate relieves pressure so you dont overboost. and also you shouldnt run a bov to atmosphere on your car, because i believe it was meant to recirculate air back into the intake.

ColinK 05-25-2007 01:17 PM

arn't all turbo cars "supposed" to recirc?

whitetalon 05-25-2007 02:48 PM

a wastegate is a wastegate PERIOD. If its internal that means its built into the turbo. External is external to the turbo like shown above. Its job is to regulate airflow to the exhaust side of the turbo allowing you to control boost levels. All turbo cars from the factory are recirculated but depending on the airflow meter can be run vented.

girlcrazy_420 05-25-2007 05:46 PM

Hmmm.... so weld my internal shut and slap one of 'them' bitches on! One day I suppose; when I have a turbo larger than a golf ball.

underscore 05-25-2007 05:49 PM

modded some oil onto my driveway...turns out I have a leak...I partially blame the rip with nosyt Monday night :P

also installed a deck/sub, though that's not any big woop really. found out I now have 3 amps in there, one which goes to nothing.

girlcrazy_420 05-25-2007 06:39 PM

Perfect 154psi compression test across the board on a dry test. Now I gotta figure out what stock compression is.

underscore 05-25-2007 08:55 PM

I would guess 160?

Delerious 05-27-2007 10:58 PM

jeffh 05-28-2007 03:30 PM

modded about 35 lbs worth of stuff from the car. then added a 22" slim fan with balls, cleaned everything like a mofo, my car is turning out sooo honda-tech

girlcrazy_420 05-28-2007 04:22 PM

Pulled engine/trans on the flee. Took from start/finish about 1hour, than lifted it out by hand :D
