Check out Allegiant right now.. they are having a sale for the buy 1 and fly 1 free thing.

jtlsw 03-10-2009 09:39 AM

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't being lazy or anything, I compared prices on lowfares.com, but none of the price were as good as the previous posters, my prices are about 30~40USD more. So generally it's cheaper to book flight and hotel separately instead of falling for the "book together and save" thing?
Also I've found some promotions on redflagdeals.com for MGM Mirage and Monte Carlo, are those 2 good hotels?

um, how about some info? what price did they give you? have you done any searching besides going to orbitz? you generally get a better deal booking seperate, i use fatwallet.com's forums for vegas hotels. there's a giant thread that folks list up deals on.

$345 for 3 nights at mgm.
$300 flight:
Sat, Mar 28 Depart: 3:20 pm Vancouver, Canada (YVR) PhilippineAirlines106
Arrive: 6:05 pm Las Vegas, NV (LAS)
Tue, Mar 31 Depart: 7:30 pm Las Vegas, NV (LAS) PhilippineAirlines107
Arrive: 10:20 pm Vancouver, Canada (YVR)

there are plenty of other non stop flights to vegas at various times of the day. i just used orbitz for the flight and fatwallet for the hotel. now go search and find them. you're lucky i'm just checking on deals before i go in april or else i would have flamed you for being lazy instead of helping.

EDIT: i just found mgm for 3 nights at your date for 291 total with $25 dining/bar credit and 2 free drinks at west wing bar. mgm grand #9 at fatwallet.

Anybody know of any deals now?
I checked orbitz.com and a flight for 2 and MGM seems to be more expensive than what "Denny" have found without the tickets.
anybody has any tips on searching for best deals?

Denny didn't specify the dates he was going on. Keep in mind that hotel rates are more expensive on Fri-Sat-Sun and cheaper on other days of the week. Just go to any major hotel's website and check out their rate calendar to give you an idea of when rates are high or low.

Also, since you plan to leave in a couple of weeks.. hotel prices usually go higher..but flights through allegiant might get cheaper as they will try to fill the spots if not full...

Is this your first time in Vegas? if so have fun!!! don't forget the free beers lol

it's not my first time but the last time i went i was under-aged with my parents lol.
where can I get free beer?

Does Allegiant only fly from US cities? I probably want to leave directly from Vancouver

so far I've narrowed down to Treasure Island, MGM Grand, andLuxor, which would be a good choice if I prefer close distance to all the fun.

Yeah, Allegiant only operates within US cities - closest one to us is Bellingham, which is worth it if the price is right. Bellingham airport is MUCH closer than stupid Sea-Tac.

Check out this map - you'll notice Luxor is quite far down on the Strip. Given your 3 choices, I'd pick Treasure Island.

^ What he said. I'd go for either MGM or Treasure island... they both have nice rooms, etc lol... I like MGM because i enjoyed their poker room but if you want to shop a lot then Treasure island is good as the fashion mall is there and it's close to Caesar's shop.. I wanna try the bellagio or caesar's next as the atmosphere of the casino is nice and their poker room is nice! lol..

As for free beers..just ask the waitress for it. You must be playing a game though.. if i'm not playing a lot but just want to have a beer, i just put in a quarter in their slots and ask hehehe...

Have fun1

I am wondering for show tickets, are they all the same standard price or are there places I can buy tickets cheaper.

lundyt 03-12-2009 11:30 AM

best place to get tickets for shows is a place called halfoffticketsfortonight. their located all over the strip and they have really good deals. me and my girl were planning on seeing Ka(cirque de solei show) and we booked ahead of time for the shitties seats at 140 each. we had some change of plans so they refunded our money we found this place and we got much better seats for 140 for the both of us. Their is one at the fashion mall or there is also one at the hawaiian zone or whatever they call it. Also they have discounts on meals thru them and other attraction aside from shows. I.E the wax museum

Where did you guys find all these deal...?

O gets really boring very quickly all they do is dive into the water. And Kriss Angels_Believe is rated as the worst Cirque out right now.

jtlsw 03-12-2009 09:12 PM

so I could buy the tickets at those places in person without advance reservation right? they don't get sold out quickly?

Hot Karl 03-12-2009 11:43 PM

i don't think you'd need to get advance tickets for the big shows. maybe if you wanted to go on friday/saturday. but if you're really paranoid you could just get them now. the main shows don't have much in the way of discounts anyway so the only bad thing about getting them now is it puts you on a set schedule at some point.

i'm gonna see penn and teller at the rio. only 75 and there's a 25% off coupon on their site. i've heard good things, and it's fucking penn & teller!

The strip area around MGM/Luxor is died and a bit run down. THe ideal place to stay is somewhere in the middle of strip around the Mirage area.

sign up for national car rental, quicker to check out. sign up for the emerald card, its free and they email you coupons like rent 3 days, get a weekend day free. you get to pick whatever car is available when you get there...usually a bunch to choose from and cheapest cost compared to any other rental i checked. i booked my car while in canada and picked it up after i landed. they have a shuttle bus from the airport that takes to rental.

If you are under 25, check out simplywheelz.
When I went in dec last year, they were the cheapest for me because their underage fee was like $10 or $15/day cheaper than the other companies.
