Attention Vegas travellers:

Star Trek The Experience (at the Hilton hotel) will be shutting down September 1. This summer will be your last chance to visit this wonderful attraction for Star Trek fans.

Note that tickets can be picked up for half price the day of or day before, at Tickets4Tonight in the Fashion Show Mall, and possibly at
Tickets2Nite near the Coke Store.

Meowjin 07-07-2008 07:16 PM

saw forest on sunday morning when I arrived (I'm staying at 4seasons at mandalay).

Thanks for that info jlo. We're looking for some show to watch. My friends just went to tickets2nite to buy tickets for david copperfield, tommorow we will be watching mystire.

Man I forgot how much I love the food. Ate at in and out, burger bar, going back to DB brassarie and of course mesa grill. I NEED TO GO TO NOBU!!!!

I don't know much about the Monte Carlo, but I can say that the Luxor varies greatly depending on the room you get. Most of their basic rooms in the pyramid are pretty run down, but the Tower rooms are a lot nicer and should be quite new.

AppleSugary 07-13-2008 02:12 AM

I stayed in Luxor last summer. I love the service!!! Got a free upgrade for the hotel and people were really nice. The hotel room was spacious and clean. Even the washroom was great! I love how there was a big magnifying mirror in our washroom. It was really helpful especially when I and my girls were "dolling-up" ourselves.

-Good, cheap foodcourt
-free shuttle train to Mandalay Bay or Excalibur(which will connect you to New York, New York/Tropicana/MGM)
-2 starbucks for my daily dose of cafeine
-Young and hot on their mid-20's are hanging out by the pool
-LAX!!!

Monte Carlo
-it is almost near the centre of the "strip life"
-has an arcade
thats all I can think off

babyshortie 07-13-2008 10:43 AM

woah how did u get a free upgrade?

i did read around that the pyramid rooms weren't that great and the tower rooms were a lot better.

i did choose to book luxor though, it was $280 for 3 nights. i thought that was a pretty damn good deal

I dont know...the lady just gave it to us. I just asked for our hotel room and the lady who was serving me winked at me and said "I am giving you and your friends a free upgrade." So yeah... people were really nice. The customer service even sent an engineer to help my friend open her luggage because she totally forgot her locker number.

Anyways, I paid $345(includes taxes and fees) with air and hotel for Vegas last August for 4 days and 2 nights.

Luxor should be fun. The only bad thing is that it is at the end of the strip. :)

oh man, I can't wait till i'm 21! :haha:

Just got back from Vegas yesterday, stayed at the Monte Carlo. Can't compare it to the LKuxor since I've never been but I guess for what I paid ($78/night) it was good enough. Tried to slip a $20 at check-in but the girl wouldn't bit. Said that it was normally a $150/night upgrade but would take it down to $50 for me. She did upgrade me to a room w/ a strip view though which, all n all, wasn't much since it was on the south tower so I was facing the CityCenter construction. The room was pretty basic, nothing really to it. Essentially the same at a basic room at IP, just not as run down.

I didn't do much at the hotel/casino itself. I heard that the pool was pretty nice, w/ a lazy river. Not many notable restaurants. Good thing was that theres a CVS and Walgreens nearby so getting (non-alcoholic) drink was a breeze.

I'm with MajinHurricane when he said that it was HOT!! 42C I think when I was there. I watched the Dark Knight at the UA Theaters and got out at about 5:00 and was at the intersection of Rue de Monte Carlo and LV Blvd and you know how long the lights could be right? Well, me and my gf were standing there, waiting for the light and I could literally feel myself burning. And there's no such thing as a breeze. The gusts of hot air that went thru, I couldn't tell if it was actually fresh air or exhaust fumes from the car. I don't think I've sweated that much in a span of 2 minutes just standing!!

And for those that ever considered watching a concert down in Vegas, I would say do it. I was at Mandalay Bay watching the Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick concert. The arena itself was a good size, about 2/3 of GM Place's full concert setup (in length) and MB's lower/upper section is equivilant to GM's lower bowl. The show was completely sold out so it was super loud. With the venue being smaller, your seats in far back aren't as bad as if you were to watch the show at GM in the same seats.

winson604 07-20-2008 06:52 PM

Just got back on Friday. Stayed at the MGM but will never stay there again. The room was so disappointing.

Watched Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo. Decent show not too shabby and only $70 so it was decent.

Watch KA and honestly I thought it was not that great. Even fell asleep for a few mins at one part of it. Watched O 3 months ago in Vegas and Corteo 2 weeks ago in Van and those were way better imo.

Weather wise yes it was like being in a fucking microwave. The air itself was so hot it was like burning my eyes.

I was there tue-fri so only had thurs really to club. Tao was awesome yet again and the no lineup plus free admission was a plus. Ghost bar was pretty cool too. A lounge/club on the roof of Palms hotel outdoors where you can overlook Vegas. Had free admission and glist for a bunch of other clubs but couldn't make it. Next time I hope.

But mang Vegas's economy has sure gone down hill. First night I went out again at like 2am to find food. Walked out onto the strip and it was a ghost town. There was basically nobody in the street at all and the only things open that late are Dennys, Fast food joints, and each hotels 1 single 24 cafe. I asked the fast food joint peeps they said Vegas isn't what it used to be, economy sucks now, go thank Bush for that.

Probably done Vegas for a while since I went 3 months ago and this past week. But always fun times. Cheap and hassle free trip. Just book it and fly down. Till next time.

saucywoman 07-21-2008 08:26 AM

wow you guys should come live in Kamloops. I found it hot when I went in August for the last two years but I liked the heat there of 40'C more than here at a temp of 30+. It's more of a dryer heat so I didn't find it too bad, unlike when it gets that hot here.

~designer_rice~ 07-21-2008 11:53 AM

I stayed at the MGM too but I found it to be one of the nicer hotels. I loved the fact that it has a nice pool facility where you can go tubing and club outdoors. Also, having the Monorail connected right to the hotel is very convenient. I watched Lance Burton as well. His show is more family-oriented. There were a few cool tricks like the Corvette Stingray flying into the air. I've got to say: I was absolutely blown away by O at the Bellagio. It was the best show I've ever seen in my life!!! Just the stage alone was so amazing.

Of course, Vegas is famous for its buffets. I went to the one at the Bellagio and they have a huge selection of breads and desserts. Also, there was a good selection of fish, meat, pizza and pasta. There was Chinese food and sushi as well. We also ate at Shibuya at MGM. They have a great tasting menu with many different sakes to choose from. Also, Wolfgang Puck at MGM was superb. Then, we ate at Circo at the Bellagio, Koi at Planet Hollywood and Aureole at Mandalay Bay. What was outstanding is Aureole. They have a glass encased tower of wine bottles where a person has to go up onto a hammack in order to retrieve the wine.

As for clubbing, we went to Tao and Tryst with VIP bottle service. Best service ever! Shopping-wise, we headed over to the Premium Outlets for some bargain deals.

Gu3s5 07-21-2008 12:40 PM

Bellagio buffet is the best on the strip!!!!

winson604 07-21-2008 12:56 PM

^^
so far from what i've tried (bellagio, wynn, planet hollywood, mgm) I would agree. Plus I did the thing where you get dinner buffet for lunch price which was a bonus.

Koi = good shiet.

flameboy54 07-22-2008 06:43 AM

Haven't been to Bellagio but tried Wynns buffet this time around. Thought it was pretty good, better then PH's. If anyone's looking for a good steak at a reasonable price, I would suggest THE steakhouse @ Circus Circus. Voted X years in a row for best steak in Vegas. I had a 24oz porterhouse and my gf had a 12oz prime rib, came w/ soup or salad, a potato side and veggies, bread, total before tip and drinks was less then $100

Yushimi 07-22-2008 07:17 AM

goo3 07-22-2008 07:42 PM

just wondering, what's wrong with paris? the location is good - right across from bellagio at less cost.

Meowjin 07-22-2008 08:57 PM
