Google Maps is your friend.

It's a 34 minute, 1.7 mile walk from the Excalibur to the Venetian. Not sure you want to consider that in the 40°C heat.

Excalibur to Rio is about the same, 36 minutes for 1.8 miles.

Hondaracer 03-09-2015 10:32 AM

Anyone done any driving with exotic racing at the speedway?

We are going april 3rf and I'm looking to book driving a couple cars

Lowered_Klass 03-09-2015 11:54 AM

^ Yup, and it was fucking awesome. Worth every penny.

Keep in mind, 5 laps is no where near enough. Don't worry about boking more than 5 laps up front, as they always have a 'special' when you get there to add 2 more laps for a decent price (at least they used to, not sure now). So when you get there, add at least another 2 laps, but I would add 4 to which ever car(s) you're driving.

If they're still doing the Corvette ride a long, do that. Again, usually a discounted rate to add it to your expierence once you're there. As soon as I got into the car with the driver, I told him I don't scare easy. I handed him a nice tip and said do your worst. He smiled and proceeded to make me shit my pants for 2 laps. It was awesome!

Hondaracer 03-09-2015 12:39 PM

Yea with the shitty exchange rate I think I'm only going to be driving the aventador for X amount of laps

But yea I'll probably wait then to book additional laps and the corvette drive for when I'm there

anyone rented a car from ur hotel area and drove down to desert hill outlets before?

punkwax 04-02-2015 03:15 PM

Fuckin' exchange rate... ~$725 flight only through Allegiant right now after conversion for two people. Most packages for 3 nights are going to be ~$1200 for a decent hotel. I'm used to paying a lot less for Vegas.

Looking for an August trip though.. so lots of time to find a deal.

Have fun tomorrow, Hondaracer.

6793026 04-03-2015 04:18 PM

Yep, unless you have time to kill, it's nothing special.

6793026 04-09-2015 10:07 PM

back from vegas
pros and cons.
1) buffet; the BEST one is still at Caesar's Bacchanal Buffet.
They dessert buffet is still the biggest and newly renovated and fucking awesome.. Awesome ice cream buffet
Wicked spoon was shit and Bellagio's buffet looked aged and honestly looked like uncle willy's setting. Seriously, Bellagio had a soft serve ice cream machine exactly like uncle willy.
Aria's looks super new, refreshed but their choices just ain't there.

all in all; sushi is the indicator. none of them had sashimi which is ok but only Caesar had nigiri (salmon and tuna), bellagio had tuna poke but that's it. Aria's california roll were rectangular...not even circular.

2) There is a secret pizza joint at Cosmo, 3rd floor. 5.50 each slice but their white pizza was awesome cheese + garlic pizza. so so so good. Hidden on 3rd floor, go ask around.

3) Ask for turn down service each night to get free water is a given and not a huge deal, and asking for late check out is also not uncommon. what i do suggest is to SAVE your hotel key card when you check out. If your flight is at 10 PM, you can always check out at 1 PM, and still use their pool until 6 PM for a quick nap at the pool.

4) every mofo taxi driver now ask u if u want to take the strip. they honestly don't mind, it's easy money for them and they get paid more, but they always ask now. apparently people THINK they get ripped off it they take the highway for a further route but much shorter travel time

5) chinese food is hard to come by and sometimes a bowl of good rice is what you want.
a) aria lemon grass ain't bad... of course the wonton soup or bowl of soup seems way out of priced but a good stir fry is 19 bucks which is on par with even in Van.
b) 1 ramen joint at monte carlo, 1 chinese joint also but didn't even try
c) best chinese #9 type is still at Bellagio... across from Jasmine (chinese fine dining)

6) Lotus to Siam is still epic. Watch Anthony B's episode. It's as good as they say it is. Their Garlic shrimp is also very very good.

7) Buffet. if you go during the easter / xmas season, then prepared to get raped.
59.99 for the nice places. but since it's holidays, it's 69.99. Add on 30% conversion, you are now literally getting ass raped for 100 bucks a buffet

8) shopping is still epic at Caesar, North premium outlet and also Fashion show. Of course, if you're pimp, then Crystal mall is beside Aria and you can pick up a Harry W's watch....

Hondaracer 04-09-2015 10:20 PM

just got back myself, had an amazing first time there

In-N-Out lol
Driving Aventador + GTR at exotics racing and the ride along with pro drifter
Shooting SCAR, M60 and Barrett .50 cal at Battlefield Vegas, the free pickup in the humvee is nice

Beattles love at Mirage, was a great show but not very much acrobatic stuff, more about the music/story which me and the gf enjoyed

Next time if its just me and my GF we will do a lot more dining, Roubechon etc. i think, as fancy as i got this time was the billionaire burger at holsteins and a nice steak from the irish pub in NY NY

Came to the realization vegas isnt really a vacation, just a place to spend money lol. Had a great time all in all but the American meat/cheese really does a number on my body and stomach and the fucking smoking in all the casinos turns it as well, get almost an instant stomach ache/shits when i walked into some of the casinos that have the lingering smoke smell

Obsideon 04-09-2015 10:30 PM

Chinese food in Vegas is stupid. Especially if you're from Vancouver where Asian cuisine is abundant, competitive, fresh and delicious.

In Vegas I had $33 for a tiny ass bowl of BBQ Duck on rice, which was ok, but definitely not worth $33... I could almost get a whole damn roast duck in Richmond for that price lol. Never again.
$20 (USD) for stir-fry?! Not sure where you eat stir-fry in Vancouver but no where I go charges me $26 a plate. It better have Lobster in it.

Japanese food is also ridiculous, my friends dropped $400 for 2 people and they had some non-inspiring food that is what you could find for 1/4 of the price in Van.

Personally Vegas is pretty much buffet and liquid diet. :ifyouknow:

When I have extra time I visit Maggiano's for Italian and PRIME steakhouse in Bellagio, Estiatorio Milos in Cosmo. Those are some nice spots to hit if you aren't down for stuffing yourself.

Lowered_Klass 04-09-2015 11:18 PM

Hondaracer, my brother inlaw and I went to L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon

Holy shit. What a dinner. Cost an arm and a fucking leg, but worth every penny. My bro inlaw is a french food snob, so he was dying to try it. Little out of my wheelhouse, but I enjoyed it :)

Hondaracer 04-10-2015 05:57 AM

We looked at both menus And although it's pricey, it's not insane compared to some of the other just average places inside the casinos, most mains at roubechon are between 60-80, we ate at stupid Ramsey's pub at ceasars and the fish and chips were like $38. So considering it's a Michelin 3 star it's not THAT crazy relatively speaking lol

So true. Unless you plan to just chill at a pool and eat on the cheap, 3 nights in Vegas can easily end up costing a lot more than a week at a nice all inclusive in Mexico.

I went there with my wife and a bunch of friends for my 30th and had cash to burn at the tables... I could have spent a week in Maui for the amount I spent over the weekend on that trip

Fuckin Vegas. First trip, I won around 3k ($1000 slot machine pull helped). Second trip, broke even. Last few trips Vegas has taken every penny back plus some :lol

6793026 04-10-2015 07:57 AM

yup. japanese food is no where near Van. we are so mofo spoiled i tell you.

as for the casinos... the smoke. again, you are right, I am just not used to being in a place where people were smoking like crazy.

Vegas is cheap... i mean going to Hawaii can not be done for 500 dollars tax in 4 days 3 nights with hotel. the 5 + hrs flight is a killer too.

fixed.

I think you missed my point. They make the price to get there appealing because all you do is spend while you're there.

highfive 04-10-2015 11:40 AM

+1 for Prime steakhouse at Bellagio.

Certain casinos has better ventilation and the smoking wasn't as bad though.

Sucks now how we have to pay 20 cents more nowadays.

Obsideon 04-10-2015 02:10 PM

The smoke isn't as prevalent at the newer casino's. My gf is pretty sensitive to the smell too but she is ok at hotels like Aria (smells like Victoria Secret in there lol), Cosmo, Wynn, Palazzo.
Whereas Caesar's Palace, Treasure Island, Mandalay Bay, even Bellagio are pretty bad.
