i have tried the buffet @ Rio, it was pretty good =)

From what I 've read online most 5 stars have no problems upgrading w/ a tip. I'd try with a $20 instead of a $50 but if you're feeling ballin...

Also, I think one of the pubs/restaurants at Rio just recently got the new MS Surface tables. If you get a chance check it out. I didn't when I was there last week.

^^^

interesting.. $20 per night? or $20 all together.

we have 4 ppl, 4 nights. have anyone tried only $20? that's like $5 a person and $1.25 per night per person!!! haha

flameboy54 07-23-2008 03:34 PM

Naw, just a $20 bill when you check in. Just sandwich it between your credit card and drivers license and utter the magic words, "any complimentary upgrades available today?", or something along those lines and keep your fingers crossed. I tried it when I was checking at the Monte Carlo but no such luck with the cute girl on the other side of the counter. The best she could do for a suite upgrade was knock it down from $150/night to $50/night. Maybe you might have better luck!

TRDood 07-23-2008 05:00 PM

and did she take your $20 after??

i think i would be pissed if she took my tip and didn't provide any service

Thinking of heading down in mid September, will it still be super hot? the last two times i went was in April so I m not sure about what the weather is like in Sept.

Naw, she returned it. She did upgrade me to a strip view standard room which was sort of an upgrade on its own. In hindsight, I guess I should just 'tipped' her the $20, she was pretty cute afterall!

As for who you should try it with, I heard it typically works younger employees but I guess it really boils down to what kinda day the persons having, how strict the policies are enforced, etc.

babyshortie 07-24-2008 07:45 AM

everything in vegas is so far away..takes like 20 minutes to walk from one hotel to another!!

I think it's dependent on hotel occupancy and which hotel you're staying at.

The best time to do these $20 tricks is during the dead time of Vegas (generally Nov-Jan) If you're staying at a place like Caesar's Palace then $20 is nothing to them so you'll probably have to throw down a $50.

Don't worry if the person takes your money and doesn't give you any room upgrades. Just tell them that you want that bill that you just gave them broken up into change. :D

It looks like I'm heading down to Vegas with some friends this time! It's looking like it'll either be the week of Aug 3/4th or Aug 11th.

Gonna go over some details with them tonight and if everything goes well then hello Vegas! If not then hello road trip to San Francisco! :mamoru:

It depends on what you want. All the hotels offer different things. For example Imperial Palace is one of the cheaper hotels on avg. The hotel is shit but it is smack in the middle of the strip thus making it a popular choice. Some who go to Vegas can care less about their hotel cause they only need it to shower, change, and sleep for a few hours before partying again so if your one of those this could be an option.

Hotels around the MGM area are decent too if you are one who will mainly just gamble in your hotel and drink. Why? Because around the corner from MGM there is a row of stores. A 24 hours Wallgreens, 7-11, and a cold beer and wine. Pretty much the cheapest beers other then gambling in the casino and getting free drinks or drink specials at some random hotels around.

Keep in mind if you are around the middle of the strip area (Caesars, Wynn, Imperial etc) you will not be close to any 7-11's. It might not be an important thing for you but who knows to some it is.

Maybe you are watching shows, and the majority of your activities are all located in a certain area. If you don't want to taxi around alot or walk for 30-1hour to get to your destinations then find a hotel within the area of said activities.

So what do you plan on doing down there? Maybe we can offer some suggestions.

Well I guess it would be Premium Outet for me if your stricting talking Outlet. But if your talking about shopping in general you got more options. Fashion Mall is pretty good and alot bigger then I thought, town square mall, premium outlet, Caesar Forums etc..

imp>dom 08-01-2008 03:40 AM

the north or the south Premium Outlet is better?

winson604 08-01-2008 06:34 AM

I go to this one http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=58

The other one has less stores (only by 20 or so) Id say look at the list of stores and see which place has the brands you desire more. Otherwise the products I assume will just be about the same. Most people go to this location over the other but thats not to say the other one is shit. I can't comment personally though.

flameboy54 08-01-2008 08:21 AM

Just a heads up, both might have the same store and merchandise but the deals might not be the same. Example: I went to both Converse stores and both had the extra high Chuck Taylors but the south outlet had it on sale for $70 but the premium outlets had the same pair on clearance for $30, the exact same pair. Maybe it was an isolated incident, who knows. I didn't ask about it. I know that Timberland and Geoffery Beene offered the same deals at both locations.

I thought the ones from Paris were the coolest. It comes in an tall Eiffel Tower container. I think it's also one of the most expensive though.

those ones looked pretty cool. I did like the ones at Mermaids and Le Bayou down at the Freemont Street Experience though. I think they are $16

I just booked a flight to Vegas from Sept 1-5. I got my tickets through Allegiant Air. It was $280 (for 2 people) before all the fees and I ended up paying $340 after all fees and taxes, still a pretty cheap flight. Haven't booked the hotel yet. I found a few good deals earlier at the Venetian $169 per night for a luxury suite with 2 free tickets to Phantom but that has expired. Now i'm looking at staying at the MGM. Pay deluxe room price and get a free upgrade to a celebrety suite (Roughly $350 for 4 nights).

Has anyone stayed in a MGM suites? I loved the Venetian last year when I stayed there. This will be the first time my gf has been to vegas so I don't want to dissapoint.

cant remember exaclty how much but if you drink alot its so worth it, plus you have a table getting drinks made by a hot ass waitress. Also the girls tend to make their way over to you more often. We had about 12 people and i think we put in 200-300 each... fuck i honest cant remember. We hooked up with some girls from Cali and partied with them all night..and afterwards :ratedb:if you know what i mean. Awww vegas good time good times.

I stayed in MGM suites and manh the privacy and service was +1.
The boys loved it so much because of the curvy and beautiful housemaids.
We loved it because whenever they see us, they would greet us and ask if we needed something.

What else??? It is basically like staying on your own condo/apartment located almost on the centre of the strips. ;)

Ohhh and since you are with gf...I think MGM suite is a good place to stay. If me and my boy will go there, I will pick MGM suite so I can make breakfast in bed for him or meals. Plus, there is a jacuzzi or big shower room which is a good place to unwind with your significant other.... ;);)
