I would like to thank the guy who told me to use lightroom lol. That program has brought wonders and my pictures now look that much better than they do raw.

It was nice out so I took some pictures of plants infront of my house. C&C is always welcomed.

the first one is too blown out and there is no detail in the ladys face

davidhtam 03-05-2009 08:26 PM

^^

Try bumping up the recovery to bring back some detail to the highlights

went full recovery. looks a lot better

what about the other two? anything i can do to make them betteR?

davidhtam 03-06-2009 06:30 AM

when you're adjusting exposure and blacks, press ALT while toggling the bars. For exposure, anything that is over exposed will show up as pure white while pressing ALT. For blacks, You're trying to find "true" blacks so toggle the bar until whatever you think should be black shows up as black while pressing ALT.

That is how to tell if something is properly exposed. Hope that helps!

I usually play around with levels, curves, exposure and saturation in Photoshop and see how it turns out. Everyone will have a different opinion on what looks good (or should look better) to them.

!Nhan 03-06-2009 11:38 AM

that doesn't work when i press ALT. I'm using lightroom 2 if that changes anything. I'm still new so it's all just a work in progress still.

davidhtam 03-06-2009 11:47 AM

Hmm not sure if it has anything to do with the version. You have to be in the develop module though

peazs 03-06-2009 09:42 PM

maybe try holding down ALT?

niforpix 03-06-2009 11:50 PM

Just freakin' google it...

Nikon D300 + 400mm f2.8.

Brianrietta 03-09-2009 11:49 PM

Do you put the cones on the kittehs just for the pictures? Because if you do, it makes them extra adorable, and kudos you.
