yes, i know the codes, that's why i included it to let you know to judge the price better. d

don't think i can pull off paying for an IS for a while, might go for it. however, a brand new lens is only $700, that's why i'm asking. save 20% for a two year old lens?

m3thods 11-08-2010 06:20 PM

assuming it's in good condition i don't see why not.

even though brand new is another 20%, it depends how you feel about having the extra cash- you'd be saving quite a bit, and since the lens will retain value pretty well compared to others, you'll still be able to get a good return out of it if you choose to upgrade.

if you only had the money for the used lens now, you'd have to save to buy brand new- and depending on how long that takes for you that could be a lot of missed photos :)

Senna4ever 11-08-2010 06:22 PM

Just check the lens thoroughly, especially the AF - make sure it's focusing properly.

Slo40 11-09-2010 07:06 AM

Never even thought about checking the date codes on lenses, so I was curious and checked all of mine last night. They were all manufactured within a few months before I bought them. The one the surprised me the most though was my 300mm 2.8 which was only made June 2010. I would have thought lenses would sit on the shelf longer that.

Boostslut 11-09-2010 09:34 PM

Those 300mm F2.8's fly off the shelves!

Watch out how you use the light in this shot though because it never made it to the far left.
It would also look good if they all hung there hands out the side and looks at the camera smiling :D

during the shoot I never noticed as I havn't every done family portraits and the dad, "had a lot of ideas". Either way, great call, and I agree.
I also think it's too hot :(

That caught my eye pp, but I wasn't sure how I would change it if I had the chance to go back. But now that you say it, either one way or the other would be good. To me, the son with his hand clenched kinda throws things off.
I need to be more assertive of the details for sure.

Friend's girlfriend made him a sign and requested that he take pictures with it whenever possible.

I've marked 80 pictures so far with it, but I'm not halfway through my pictures from the trip. :)

Congrats! If that's your only 'L' lens, then no, you are not an L-coholic yet. Three or more, then maybe! :D

i need some info regarding black&white images. do you guys use B&W at all, and if you do,why? is it for the mood of the image? is there any real reason to do B&W anymore?
