Anyone here own any A Lange & Sohne models? I'm leaning towards picking up a basic Saxonia 35mm... but I have no clue where or how I would get it serviced down the line. There are no Boutiques or ADs in Vancouver(?), and I think the only AD in all of Canada is in Toronto? (I could be wrong). Anyway, was wondering if anyone here has one and has servicing experience or avenues. No offense to local watchmakers, but I don't really trust anyone but Lange to service a watch of this price/level of finish. Thanks in advance! |
The only Canadian authorized dealer is in Montreal Chateau d'Ivoire 2020, rue de la Montagne Montréal Québec H3G 1Z7 Canada If I am understanding you correctly, are you looking for a third-party watchmaker to repair your potential A.Lange & Sohne? Or just any authorized dealer? |

I wouldn't really trust a non Lange authorized service center to touch a watch of that level. I guess I'm not super familiar with the whole process of having a watch sent to a service center. Do service centers allow individuals to package/ship their watches for servicing? Or does it always have to go through a AD or boutique? In other words, can I pack/ship a watch to Lange in Germany to get serviced? Or does an AD have to do it on my behalf? |
You can arrange to send it yourself to A.Lange & Sohne. It's a common practice regardless of marques. You contact or go on their website and they will send you instructions on what to do. It's the same for Rolex, Omega and everyone and their dog. You've paid a premium for customer support, so you should be able to take advantage of it. |

You sure you want a 35mm ALS? I would think the 37mm would be more appealing. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |
wah? oakridge's monte cristo sells A.Lange & Sohne https://www.montecristo1978.com/timepieces/ Talk to Giovanni, he's a great guy. i bought a few pieces off him and he always treats me like a king. |

I also have small wrists, so a 35mm while may be small at first, I'm sure I'll get used to it fairly quickly. Unless there is a 37mm Saxonia that I don't know about. NOTE: I'm looking primarily for the White Gold Silver dial model. I know the gray dial model is a different size. Let me know if I missed one! Quote:

If I remember correctly they're (A. Lange) dropping the brand or the brand dropped them (Montecristo) |
Really ? I was just there recently (Dec) and they carried it. I picked up my datejust 41 to match my wife’s https://i.postimg.cc/CK9MTLx4/455-A5...-AF1-ADA77.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/KY1cHgxz/331606...5-D4-D6-B0.jpg |
Timex following up their Q with a batman automatic https://hypebeast.com/2020/2/timex-m...c-release-info |
Timex been on a roll recently. Their new automatics are friggin sweet but I wish they were in house movements and not just miyotas. |
Nothing wrong with Miyota or third-party movements. In-house movements often mean only the OE can repair them and have a strong hold market on parts availability. If we look at Tudor and Breitling who have now offered their in-house movements, but replace them at their discretion because its too complicated to fix? Kinda makes you wonder... |
Montecristo's been in some cahoots lately. Brands have been dropping them. Rolex for sure. Pretty sure A.Lange & Sohne as well. If anything exists there, it's new old stock. They won't get anything new. |
^ What happened? |
A simple Google search will yield a few results. :) TL;DR: Crazy Rich Chinese People + sales practices + Revenue Canada |
Ouch, that's unfortunate... I went by the one at Metrotown 2 years ago before they moved downstairs. I was checking out some Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Didn't really like how they close their doors and have a "guard" standing there watching you talk to the salesmen. But I guess extra security for a jewelry store isn't out of place. Went there once, and never wanted to go back. Despite their salesmen being decently nice (although not knowledgeable about the watches). |
The Oakridge store at one point consistently was robbed probably once or twice a year which explains their over the top security. |

That's just part of the game these days to get high demand Rolex watches. You gotta spend some dough in order to get in line to get a Submariner these days. It's not just Montecristo; It's all Rolex dealers. If you're dead set on getting one it's either playing their way, or buying pre-owned. That or find something else. |
I understand, just curious if they hook up returning clients or if you can be referred etc....anyone have a connection on Rolex's...interested in the sub 116040(sub no date). Prefer new. |
