so the other Rolex ad downtown told me i can get a sub if i bought a lady's datejust. Its pretty much the same with Montecristo, if you dont have an existing relationship they wont sell you a sub. I was quoted you need to spend 80k for a Daytona before you are offered the chance at one. Its better just to go to houston and pick one up at their AD (where i saw one available) |
If there's a steel Daytona at an any AD anywhere in the world right now that are willing to sell to anybody, I would buy a plane ticket in the next 10 mins and go there to buy it and then fly back. Still cheaper then paying grey :lol |
oh man, Thanks for the heads up! I guess I won't get my hope's up, might have to settle for an Omega Seamaster....don't really want to though |
Nothing wrong with a seamaster. Arguably it's even a better watch in terms of movement / design / value. Personally I'd take that 007 seamaster on NATO over the sub any day. The only sub I like is a solid gold one but it looks so gaudy. Dj milk call up the Houston AD. They had one back in November when I went there. The Patek dealer had a 5711 in two tone Gold too. Houston is a helluva town to buy watches. |

I love how it's sitting in some random bag. :lol |

yaeh it was retail price. the bag for the 5711 is because youre not suppose to handle it with your bare hands hahahah |
It sure looks like it's been...handled. :ifyouknow: |
Went the Rolex Boutique tried the 2 tone Sub on for size, looked and felt a bit small....then tried the Sea Dweller and it felt and looked great. Sad part once again they said the SD43 in steel would be hard to come by. Left them my phone number. Oh well let's see what happens. Thanks for the help everyone |
Conundrum: two speedmasters, one newer 2018 FOIS numbered edition, another 2012 classic moonwatch. The FOIS is about $500 more. FOIS pros: sapphire crystal, personal preference of the straight lug style, newer. FOIS cons: no bracelet, maybe lower resale value/demand, iffy on the mixed styled hands in the subdials. Moonwatch pros: bracelet and probably holds value better Cons: hesalite (tho I do like the look of the plastic, for durability of daily wear would prefer sapphire for less worry), older, more common. Which would you take? |

It’s funny - all of your FOIS pros are cons for me (although I do love that watch) I’ve daily worn my speedy pro for 5 years, work, home, car stuff, camping trips. Sure it’s gets a little scuffed from time to time, but polywatch takes out minor scratches in the crystal in minutes, and it’s not a big deal to replace it altogether at the 5 year service. I bought mine preowned, so I can’t speak to the difference in msrp. You can’t really go wrong with a classic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Speedy professional all the way brah. |
you guys got it all wrong the solution is to buy BOTH. n+1 for life, gaiz and if you are worried about scratches, scuffs, and dust, seal it in an air tight container and lock it up in the vault jeez. |
For clarification, i was mostly being sarcastic. |
sort of / not really. kinda of serious too. |
Seal then sell in 20 years for profit !!! |
Was 30 mins away from buying myself a Moonwatch but the seller got cold feet and backed out last minute :okay: Wallet is safe for another day I guess. |
lol that sucks |
Is there a local store that sells Konstantin Chaykin? I want to see these watches in person because it looks interesting :D https://www.ablogtowatch.com/wp-cont...comparison.jpg |
Wow. I’m scared of clowny watches now. |
what would you call a "medium" range watch?... an omega? |
Mid: Tissot, Oris, Seiko (certain lines), Longines, Hamilton, Casio (certain lines), Citizen, etc I think Omega, Rolex, Breitling, Tag (to an extent), belong together in the luxury tier Then ultra-luxury is just basically the big 3 (patek, vach, AP) and some others like RM etc. Who cares, just wear what you love. I saw this dude with a bitching citizen the other day (skyhawk or something....) and it was an amazing watch that has some great complications. He had a GPS, multi time zones, compass, and solar recharge all for he said around 300 clams. Thats a daily to end all dailies. |
