Woot just got my CasiOak in and am impressed with it, more than I thought I'd like a quartz watch.

The depth of the dial elements, like the chapter ring and indices, are so sharp and 3 dimensional that the stock photos don't do it justice.

The stepped movement of the minute hand is also pretty neat.

Yes it is impossible to see at night. Definitely form over function.

Although not sure if light grey one is much different either since the indices are not lumed.

I have that black/silver and bought it for that exact reason. Both are awesome watches though.

Anyone noticing the pre-owned market has dried up since COVID?

I've been checking daily the last couple months for a Speedmaster Reduced or Seamaster Professional (normal and midsize) and not seeing anything.

I might have to resort to Chrono24 or ebay, but I've never bought a watch from either before. Does anyone have experience with Chrono24 or ebay? I'm just afraid that the watch doesn't come as advertised and also duties and taxes up the ass.

I personally haven't seen any real differences since COVID, but my guess behind the Speedmasters are that the used vs. retail prices are more or less the same, the price differential doesn't make sense to buy used, so that market itself has dried up. A lot of pre-owned Speedmasters are only really saving you maybe taxes, and a hundred dollars or so.

Wondering if I could get some pointers on purchasing a watch off ebay. I've been on the lookout for a Cartier Tank, but couldn't find anything local and I couldn't justify paying retail for a brand new one.

Ask lots of questions about authenticity and straight up if it is a fake or knock off. That way if it turns out to be, PayPal will not have a problem refunding you.

dude has 2000 sold with 100% positive, legit post & post feedback on real watches. I don't see anything wrong. you can do some spy / stalking digging on feedback and it shoudl be easy to identify.

I thought the 100% positive seemed kinda fishy, but I'll keep that in mind next time.

They come in and out of stock. I'd like one but kinda salty having to pay MSRP for it. Had one on order from HBC on sale for under $100, but they "lost" it during shipping. Refused to honor the price when it came back in stock, not to mention all the time talking with CSR's.

The new colorways coming soon looks more slick, wouldn't be surprised if the 1A1 (all-black) finally has some staying power on shelves now.

Bought (used) almost 10 years ago. Kind of a mutt, early 70’s movement w a newer face. Hesalite gets hacked up but a quick polish keeps it looking pretty good.

Sometimes I think about getting another watch, but I’d miss the speedy. A quick bracelet swap is all I need to do to be as dressy as I ever need to be.

^ Looks good! I agree that the Speedy makes for a very good daily. I change straps on mine constantly to keep things fresh.

You should consider hunting down a period correct dial / hands combo to bring it back to a more 'original' state :]
