Oh man, I got to try on one of my grail watches over the weekend and boy did it deliver. I was surprised about the size actually, sitting at 44mm the Grand Seiko Spring Drive Diver felt perfect on my wrist, didn't feel too tall/big at all. (Infact, after taking it off and wearing my SKX007, the 007 felt a little small. lol) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...7CD2FF37F7.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...707A4AB1E7.jpg Rodeo in Oakridge Centre has a nice array of Grand Seikos on display. |
Ah yes, the Grand Seikos at Rodeo are indeed special. Got to try on my ultimate grail there once, the titanium snowflake....:drool http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6130/...32d1573857.jpg |
Beautiful Grand Seikos! I didn't know anyone local is carrying Grand Seikos. I'll have to make a trip to Rodeo then to check them out. Is that the only GS model they have? On another note I have two homage watches incoming. This one is a serious dive watch. Helson Sharkmaster 600 http://www.helsonwatch.com/resources/SM600white%205.JPG This one will be a fun watch. lol Getat 44mm PAM homage http://www.siswatch727.com/showroom/...3921010463.jpg |
I believe rodeo have a good selection of GS's, from the divers all the way to the dress watches. Definetly worth going to check them out. Also nice sharkmaster, I can Definetly dig the rugged asymetrical case, to me it just seems so big and badass. Posted via RS Mobile |

they have two Seiko Astrons on display, both Spring Drive divers (titanium or stainless), 4-6 different classic designs ie: snowflake, sbgr055... and this bad boy, http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...7EA60EF781.jpg  |
Wow... I never really gave the Grand Seikos a second look until now. |
Still drooling over Planet Ocean :( |
I was thinking of picking up a cheap diver for the summer. What do u guys think of the orient ray or mako. Posted via RS Mobile |
Mako Posted via RS Mobile |
+ 1 for the mako; I've always wanted one as a fun cheap diver. I'd go with with the blue, it looks pretty boss, but if you want some color, I think there is an orange model, right ? Posted via RS Mobile |
What abt the mako makes it better than the ray. I like that the mako has numerical numbers. And the ray seems like its trying to look like a Rolex sub. Posted via RS Mobile |
Actually, looking into the 2, I think the ray is the newer model. They differ in aesthetics only I think, and you know what, the ray actually doesn't look that bad. I think I actually prefer the orange ray to the orange mako. I think the metal bracelet on the ray has a bit of polish in the links too, unlike the mako. Google image them and just choose whichever you fall for first I reckon. |
anyone know any good local shops that sell quality watch straps and deployment buckle? |
Should probably get something classier http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2ClsUlay59...77--2151-p.jpg |
Hamilton vs Tissot. Which one would you personally go with regarding their automatics? In particularly I'm looking at the Tissot Couturier line and the Hamilton jazzmaster viewmatic. Heres my dilemma, I've got a couple of movado's plain black face watches and wanted to add a white face one so I chose the jazzmaster. bUT I also want a more busy looking watch like the Tissot Couturier. Either one I end up getting would be worn regularly. Just wanted your input regarding both lines automatic movement watches. I know they both belong to Swatch group. But which is more reliable and durable, bang for buck, worth it's cost, holds its design better? |
^^^i know you're looking at the jazzmaster, I'm just going to throw up the Hamilton intramatic too Hamilton Intra-Matic Posted via RS Mobile |
^ that ones not bad. But the like the number font they used on the jazzmaster. But that still doesn't answer my original question. Lol |
Um well, both brands are basically in the same quality tier IMO, finish wise they should be the same, I own one of each and they are well made. I think they both use the same automatic movement, I'm not sure what grade each one uses. Sapphire crystal on both I think. If your choice is between these two, I don't think there is a drastic difference quality wise, maybe the jazzmaster might be the more desired model with watch people, so could possible resell for more than the tissot. Just go for whichever one you like more. Posted via RS Mobile |
The Jazzmaster Intra-Matic is on my wishlist, but the MSRP is a bit high for what you get IMO |
True that, I went to try the intramatic locally, and it was at like 900, fuck that. Much cheaper online(~500 I think) if u scout for deals. Posted via RS Mobile |
Such a hard decision to make since they're in the same tier. Now I'm looking at some of the Hammy chronos. Lol |
Hammy chronos are pretty nice too, I own the quartz ETO model, I'd love to upgrade it to the X wind model one day :p Have you looked at the silver face tissot visodate or maybe even the le Locle models lol, there are so many to choose in this range. Posted via RS Mobile Edit: 4-500 range gets you into the seiko Sarb range too, which are extremely nice timepieces for the price |
After an entire day of contemplating I'm thinking of settlng on the Tissot Couturier. Mainly because I like the orange in the face and strap plus its got a deployment clasp on the strap. I know I can always change the strap. But I'd rather not. Really tough choice. The Hammy is more $$$ too....... |
I would have gone with Hamiltons. I find the finish quality on the Hamiltons are a little bit better than Tissots. Plus I find most of the Tissot models not very attractive........maybe except the Visodate. |
Hamilton Watch · Auto Chrono Ordered this exact watch. Can't wait to recieve it!!!!!!! Thanks for the help guys! |
