But you're Mr.Money :troll:

I'm not one for the cartoon-toy looking clothing/accessories.
But I do like the deadmau5 x neff line lol.

Can't justify spending that kind of money on an ETA movement. So nay on the 2500 for that reason alone. If it was me dropping 4 or more digits on a watch, in-house or save up.

moky 12-29-2012 10:26 AM

have no experience with the 8500 in terms of accuracy and reliability yet, other than trying on 42 and 45mm 8500 PO numerous times. my 2500PO is running at +1/day for the last 7 and a half yrs

4grand for an in house movement...i'd like to see that

Spoon 12-29-2012 10:55 AM

Thought Zenith was in that range.

So I've got an old watch my ex gave me a while back to use while at work. It's a cheesy Hilfiger watch, and I'm looking to replace it. Just looking for something in the 100-150 range in the same style (black face, silver bezel). Any suggestions?

ok, so name some watches that are in that price range with in house movements?

Do any of you guys have professional jobs? Because half the watches I see in the thread would never be OK to wear with a suit. G-shock.. lol. People still wear those?

skiiipi 12-29-2012 04:57 PM

Hey guys,

I'm on the market for an everyday watch
Want something fashionable, but also durable
I an super hard on my watches, constantly running into things and such
Both my last 2 seikos ended up scratching/shattering really bad.

I'm thinking of the Oakley Transfer Case (one of the few oakley watches that are in my price point)

Was wondering if anybody has any experiance with Oakley Watches, and also what color would u guys suggest I get?

Oakley Transfer Case Watch | Oakley Store

Thanks in advance

Depends on your style, really. I personally think chronographs look weird with suits, but tons of people wear that.

One engineer I work with rocks a G-shock lol

I would imagine if you were a doctor/lawyer you wouldn't wear a g-shock..

Lomac 12-29-2012 05:10 PM

Merci. :)

I went through close to thirty pages in this thread before giving up. :lol I did see some nice watches to consider but figured I'd see what other ones people would recommend that hadn't been posted yet.

I'm assuming Ashford is a reputable dealer to order through? I've seen a ton of sketchy watch sites out there.

Funny enough, my old GP rocked a G-Shock. I actually think it's okay to wear something a little brazen, even if you're in a two thousand dollar suit. It adds a splash of colour/pizzazz that kinda indicates that you're not just another suit in the office.

ashford, jomashop and authenticwatches.com are pretty reputable. i've ordered from authenticwatches before, arrived two days later considering it was 4th of july when i ordered it :)

tons of good reviews on ashford and jomashop!

@spoon, you're right with zenith having in house movements, but last time i checked they were more than 4gs, except maybe for new old stock models?

E_Fahlman 12-29-2012 07:21 PM

@moky

Did authenticwatches rape you on the duty?

moky 12-29-2012 07:27 PM

actually no, they put down the value of $500 and i got charged a little less than 100?

First of all, nothing wrong with buying an older stock model. And I never said 4gs. I said 4 digits or more. There's a difference.

hehehe i have a lot of people to disappoint if that were true :)

i dont think people take watches as serious as they used to i've seen all sorts, sure some people look odd but it largely goes unnoticed at least in my experience

yep ashford is reputable at least they used to be; i've ordered from there before as well but iirc they ended up selling the site to some other company but should still be fine, never heard any complaints

there's also jomashop.com if ye wanted to shop around; watch forums are a good place to shop too WATCH TALK FORUMS - Home etc

I'm a newbie to the watch world. Why do people value so much with an in house movement? Is the 2500 movement purchased off a third party?

stuff99 12-30-2012 08:38 PM

Hi all,

The Jeweler offered me the PO 2500 for $4000 tax in.

PO 8500 was offered to me for $5500 after tax.

Do you think either one is a good deal?
