For some reason I have no desire to see this. Not a fan of Daisy Ridley, she always looks like she's got to poop or that she's really confused.

the trailers got me pretty pumped for it

SkinnyPupp 12-13-2017 05:07 PM

3 hours to go I am pretty stoked! PogChamp

TBH I don't find Daisy Ridley very attractive but that's totally cool for me. I actually like the direction Disney is taking their action movies, away from every single important character being a Handsome Fit White Male or Ironically Tough Hot Chick With Big Tits. That gets boring after several decades.

Star Wars

i can't put a number on this.... 9.9/10

cuz of..
Spoiler!

SkinnyPupp 12-14-2017 01:32 AM

I LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE~!

It's not going to surprise you or do something unexpected. But it is absolutely everything I want in a Star Wars movie. They absolutely NAILED it!

This is the most I've enjoyed a Big Action Movie in a long time

68style 12-16-2017 01:28 AM

I had major problems with all the Disneyisms in this Star Wars........ too many cute little creatures serving no purpose other than to sell toys. Overall it was entertaining though... 7/10.

Would like to say much more but... no way to without spoilers.

SkinnyPupp 12-16-2017 02:33 AM

Those cute/weird critters were always in star wars, and were always annoying once you were older than 8 LUL

They seem to be extra annoying though, and yeah maybe a bit too obvious like baby Groot

Blueboy222 12-16-2017 09:03 AM

Spaceballs 2.0 : The search for more money

Epic fail 1/10... RIP Star Wars lore...

Lowest star-war movie audience score ever...... worse than 'The phantom menace'.

DragonChi 12-16-2017 09:29 AM

Yeah, I feel like the movie had no canon plot development at all. No answers to the first movies. Just left hanging.

Mr.Money 12-16-2017 02:24 PM

last jedi 7/10

the untouchable hero's like the Avengers movie is annoying me in this starwars movie, the dark side is made out to be this big bad thing from the jedi and they're always getting away in perfect shape every single battle...its becoming predictable.
At least in Rogue one you were completely taken back with the death scenes and they went out like a champ,i hated this ending what they did with luke...completely lazy shit writing.

did anyone else feel like the asian girl playing with the main actor Fin have such shitty acting?..i never felt convinced watching her..it was just a cheesy Disney feel to it,i dont't even know they would choose her.

SkinnyPupp 12-16-2017 05:59 PM

I wish we could talk spoilers in here... Maybe someone wants to start a spoiler thread if they really want to defend low scores LUL

I agree completely, if I'm in the middle of watching a movie the last thing I want to happen is for my brain to suddenly stop being immersed in the movie and think "Wow, Disney went full libtard here and found a fat ugly asian female actress for a role just because she checks off a bunch of diversity boxes................"

I'm no right wing nutjob, very liberal minded, but I definitely don't like being so obviously pandered to.

SkinnyPupp 12-17-2017 06:18 AM

omg a non white character, those cucks

Fuck off, I explained myself, I’m all for diversity but not when the company itself is being like “See! Look at us we’re diverse don’t bash us on social media” the way they unveiled her... that’s just using the actress not because she was talented but because of what she is, which is just as bad (if not worse) than not being diverse in the first place.

Star Wars is better than this, look at the original trilogy? How controversial would it have been at the time to introduce a black man in a lead role? There was no movement, no social media pressures back then... but they did it anyway because they genuinely wanted to make a statement and they introduced him in a great way, with an awesome and highly integral storyline where he backstabs everyone, and then he redeems himself and makes up for it later... NEVER at one single moment did you ask yourself "Why is this character here?" or feel like you're being pandered to. Lando was one of my favourite characters from the original movies growing up because he was a great character, I even had his original action figure, but this particular character was an embarassment, her entire storyline could have not existed and not one single outcome in the movie would have changed. She is a reactionary safeguard to the fear of social justice backlash, a calculated move by a giant corporation, not a bold statement against norms to start a movement off of. An (at the time) upstart George Lucas took a huge risk in giving us a black man at a time when nobody else was... Disney is doing the opposite... giving us something because they feel like they have to. It's insulting to everyone's intelligence how they handled it.

that's what pretty much came to mind..it's so strange they came up with a fat asian that felt out of place like a diversity#1 Disney show.

would it have being better to find an attractive eye candy asian girl to make it better?..most likely...But its has to be soo diverse,Better add an ugly person with a fabulously me body size.

I know there are a lot of dumb things with this movie. But complaining about one of the main characters being chubby and not white makes you look like an idiot rightwing cucktard. Even though I know you're generally not one - I think you're a smart dude who is just influenced by conversations you've had with morons, and I think you are overreacting here. I can't say the same for the people clicking "thanks" on your post though Kappa

I can't imagine what your reaction would be if Rose was a dude and fell in love with Finn. I can actually think of some people being put on suicide watch if that happened.

Also if you want to compare how minorities are portrayed in movies from the 70's to now, don't just take one movie with one character as an example. Compare ALL mainstream movies of the 70's and 80's to now.

It shouldn't be considered a statement at all to have a character that isn't white and doesn't have a perfect body and hair. I never thought of it as one, though I do notice when forward thinking shows have non "movie star" characters on cable and movies, compared to the glossy idiotic network shows and outdated movies.

And believe me I know what you're getting at with the ultra liberal forcing things down your throat. I don't get that here. Actually in China they have the OPPOSITE issue, with western action movies shoehorning pretty Chinese actresses who can't act, and it stands out offensively to me. In fact if you want to get offended at a shitty actor being shoved down your throat in this movie, it should be Rose's sister who can't act or speak English but looks pretty and is Asian. She's probably the only reason the Rose character is even Asian LUL

But yeah I listen to a lot of Joe Rogan podcast, so the topic comes up a lot. But I disagree with you that it's taking place here. Are they making a conscious effort to have a diverse cast of important characters? Hell yes! Are they "forcing it down your throat" whatever that means? I guess that's up to you to decide, how mad you get when everything isn't white and good looking.

iwantaskyline 12-17-2017 08:18 PM

^Yeah I'm gonna agree with Skinny here. I didn't like her character but that was probably more due to the fact that they wrote her and Finn the shittiest fucking plot you could imagine. I actually fell asleep during parts of the casino.

Also, she's a nerdy engineer - the fact that she is asian and chubby fits the role lol.

DragonChi 12-17-2017 09:00 PM

Most engineers I know are fit. Maybe 10% or less are actually fat. I know A LOT of young engineers. Just saying. lol.

I thanked him because some of what he said aligned with what I thought about the movie. The part about this whole social equality at the cost of quality movie. It's rare for me to condone shit slinging or name calling, and it wasn't my intent to thank that part of the post. As you might know from my previous posts.

I liked Donnie Yen in Rogue One FYI. "The force is with me, I am one with the force" was awesome! The role totally fit, the whole philosophy of martial arts is related to the Jedi/Sith.

Spoiler!

white rocket 12-18-2017 02:28 PM

Get Out 8/10 - Good story, good acting, kind of predictable but had a good pace to it. Funny and witty at times as well. I can see why critics liked it. Worth the watch for sure.

It Comes At Night - 0/10 - what a hunk of garbage. SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, and then credits. WTF did I just watch?

Acura604 12-18-2017 03:14 PM

THE LAST JEDI

11/10. YUP.. 11 !!! LOVED IT.. THE EFFECTS BLEW MY MIND.. .IT'S SCI FI.. WHAT U WANT? FREE POPCORN?

ilovebacon 12-18-2017 04:46 PM

Starwars - The force awakens - 7/10 Aside from the great effects and sounds. I think I would've had a better experience if I was more familiar with the story from the previous acts.

Pirate of the Caribbean - Dead men tell no tales - 9/10 I always like the movie ever since the first one but this one was different. It had great humor, great visual effects, and a great sentimental story.

Oh ok so those kinds of generalizations are alright... so long as they aren't racial :ahwow:

I would be fine IF THEY HAD A PURPOSE in the movie besides just being there for the sake of being a convenient (for Disney) answer to an accusation that hasn't yet been levied!

I have no issue with a fat asian girl being in the movie, but her role in the movie had NO point and, so far as any of us can tell, she was ONLY there to check off some diversity boxes. THAT is what I don't like.
