For some reason it didn't do it for me as a Triad film. Gangster films of the 90s/2000s aren't being made like they used to be. Probably because they weren't good either. lol.

Agreed it was pretty bad.

Have you watched the web series that came out a while ago called OCTB? It's also on Netflix oddly enough. Not bad in the sense of nostalgia as it's based in the 80's/90's and has a bunch of the dudes you would recognize playing triad members from back in the day including Mountain Chicken. As for the show itself yea it has some brutal acting by some noobs among other things but with Chinese shows and movies I usually come to expect that.

Chasing the dragon was a bit of a BS. I actually watched the first (2 part movie) by Andy Lau called Lee Rock. Amazing movie.

Part 1 (full 2 hr movie)
part 2 (full 2 hr movie)

It's the whole story of Lee Rock. When they came out with Chasing the Dragon it was a bit BS (I am pretty sure it's more a fashion show movie for Andy Lau more than anything). All in all, very nostalgic for me that's all.

OCTB was decent, I am just not used to seeing low budget Chinese drama anymore; but yes, great 80-90s feel and good 1st season.

Black Panther 8/10

Beautiful scenes. Awesome action. Memorable characters. This is one of the few movies that I'll be watching in theatres more than once.

Ahhh, guess you've been watching the triggered videos of your hero Ben Shapiro about the left-wing propaganda of this movie, huh?

You're a clown. You're not asking a question, you're looking to push an agenda. I am dying to meet you one day in this city.

The fact that you even consider it shows what kind of information you are paying attention to. It's good that you seem to be questioning it at least. You haven't gone full Rightwing CiC yet Kappa

Go see the movie and think for yourself SeemsGood

PM me anytime. You'll have to come to me though. I'm not going out of my way, since I have absolutely no interest in meeting you.

See the problem with that is now that it's been mentioned to me, I'll have a preconceived opinion. If I ask people who've already seen it, and weren't thinking that prior, there's no bias.

Also, just FYI, it was a friend who told me this, not the interwebz. Also, he's Japanese, not white.. In case that matters.

6793026 03-11-2018 09:33 PM

jumnaji.. it was ok. 8/10
they modernized it; didn't relaly use the big boob & blonde card too much. Kevin & Jack were just as awesome as the Rock which was pretty cool.

E.D.C.5 03-11-2018 10:12 PM

also saw Jumanji: welcome to the jungle...i'd give it a 6.5-7/10.

something I would only watch once.

Well I saw it tonight and thought it was a "good Marvel action movie". Which is above average if you've seen my other Marvel reviews. Maybe one time I'll have to do a ranking of some sort.. I really enjoyed Ragnarok but for totally different reasons. IIRC I was more engrossed with this one. They both have unique visual styles (even sci fi itself gets very generic, but both these movies avoided it).

8/10

The movie was VERY well cast - everyone is likeable and just feels right. The only minor exception for me was the guy who played the main villain. He comes across as kind of a tryhard and his acting was pretty bad.

Like all other Marvel movies, the CG was noticeably bad and was distracting at several points.

I can see why it's a significant movie to a lot of people. There are definitely some heavy handed messages in there, which is why some complete fucking moron might think of it as 'propoganda'. But guess what, movies can convey messages.

The post credit speech by T'challa was AMAZING and IMO should be heard by everyone. It really fits into the philosophy that I enjoy following, inspired by "WE ARE ALL ONE"

And FYI it doesn't matter one bit what race your buddy is who said the movie is propaganda. Anyone can be a racist asshole or even simply not intelligent enough to understand things in movies. Yes even Disney action movies LUL
