Heading to Tokyo in late October, can anybody recommend brands (or better yet, stores) of raw Japanese denim to look out for that aren't too expensive? Probably around $150 +/- $20 CAD would be my limit.

For Japanese denim/leather go to Ueno and hit up Ameyoko. Free chain stitch hemming if you have the time as well. May need to up the budget a tad tho.

Make sure you explore every nook and cranny, most stores have upper levels sometimes hidden in the very back. They carry all the big boys: ONI, SDA, Flathead, Samurai, McCoys etc...

If anyone is looking to buy some N&F for 80 dollars a pair, the skate shop on granville is selling them for that price.

Anybody taper their jeans keeping selvedge ID locally?

sonick 11-01-2015 03:36 PM

My latest pair, just basic 501-STFs. Washed about 3-5 times worn a few years, not sure how long. Nothing special, but not bad for $30 jeans:

My new, and first real 'nice' raws (Burgus Plus 880 made by Ware House specially for Hinoya); past raws that have since been retired include Earnest Sewn, Gap Japanese Selvedge and the above 501's. 14oz japanese denim, tanned leather patch, very fuzzy and I love how crazy slubby it is, pics don't do the material justice. Also picked up a pair of selvedge from Uniqlo for just under $30 for a cheap pair. Nothing special about those.

But do you realize how dirty your jeans are when you first purchase. Let's just say my mom works in clothing production before and I work as a clerk in Old Navy before and let's just say my advice is wash all new clothing you purchase.

trollguy 01-11-2016 02:18 PM

lets just say you're preaching to the wrong crowd

Had to wash my APC NS after 10 wears because idiot friend spilled something on me:QQ:
soaked it in cold water with a little laundry detergent and hang dried it. There seems to be very minimal indigo loss as indicated by the colour of the tub of water after soaking.

oh well, hopefully i still get some sick fades haha

Got a pair of N&F Easy Guy 11oz Stretch Selvedge, they didn't have a size 28, so i got a size 29 which fits perfectly, not too snug/not loose, but I'm afraid it'll stretch out a little too much. There isn't a lot of pressure in the waist so I'm assuming the waist will stretch out maybe half a size at most. Do you guys think I'm good to go? :(

I have a few pairs of jeans that I would like the waist taken in and tapered. I lost weight but they are expensive pairs that I can afford to throw some money at so that I can actually wear them again, since they are fairly mint.

Would Alberts be able to do this without getting the sag butt?

Basically I'm asking if anyone has experience taking in the waist and tapering jeans successfully?

Armind 10-21-2016 11:37 AM

Jeans ripped in my crotch area.

Where to get it fixed? In Surrey if possibru.

Energy 11-15-2016 10:12 PM

Retired this pair some time ago and took one last photo yesterday. A bit sad that I can't continue but I'm also satisfied with the end result.

Verdasco 11-17-2016 09:52 AM
