just got a pair of levi's 511 black stretch for $50.99 at the bay. Feels freakin amazing!!

Also pulled the trigger on a pair of N&F Weirdguy Stretch Selvage.
This will be my first pair of raw denim. Anything I should know about wearing raw denim? and how short should i hem them or should i even hem them at all? thanks

Depends on how long they are and the taper. If they are tapered enough at the bottom that you can get some mad stacking action, then leave them unhemmed.

If the leg opening is too big and just kinda flop around, or it's too long and you end up stepping on them then get them hemmed.

metro. worth a shot

Also, for the hemming question: my N&F are about 1.5 inches too long (I'm a fairly short guy. 30 length is usually good for me and these come obviously longer than that)

However, I was reading some forums and on top of cuffing and stacking, they suggest not to alter it or anything until at least a month of wear if not, until after the first wash as they will shrink and stuff. can anyone verify?

I don't suggest hemming them at all. Let them stack, if it becomes to uncomfortably long (such as you're stepping on the bottom or whatever) just cuff them. IMO nothing worse then hemming a pair of raw denim.

what are some good jeans that fit a guy with big quads?
Straight jeans no longer fits (i.e. Levis 514) and I hate how flared out the loose jeans are at the bottom.

Your raws will probably shrink a LITTLE after the first soak/wash (think 0.5" in length). But if they are obviously too long, then go get them hemmed, keeping the small amount of shrinkage in mind.

But seriously though, their just jeans. Wear them. Enjoy them. Don't think too hard about this.

the 'slim straight'?

woob 09-24-2013 09:32 AM

Take a measurement of your thighs, then go check out the measurements of various jeans at a site like blueowl.us to get an idea of what will fit you.

Without knowing exactly how big your quads are, I'm gonna throw in a blind recommendation of Levi's 501 shrink-to-fit. Here's a guide on how to shrink them, with lots of pics

Anyone know a good place to get Slim/Tapered jeans with 1-2% spandex/elastane in them? After wearing a pair, 100% cotton just isn't the same..

RunningFree 10-01-2013 08:11 AM

Great fade! :fullofwin:

What are your stats on these... wear time, washes, etc.

26 months of ownership. Worn less often after the 18th month mark. They've just seen water for the 4th time this past week.

RESN 10-01-2013 11:44 AM

^ one of the most beautifully faded apcs i've seen.

PJ 10-01-2013 03:22 PM

Loving these APC PS. Went 1 smaller than last time and I love the fit. Don't think I'm going to hem it either.
