Anaheim did extend King a qualifying offer at the close of the season and while he says they were happy with his play, the offer is more of a formality that allows the club to hold onto his North American hockey rights. It didn’t really offer King a change within the organization, or any more money.

Apart from the waivers thing someone already mentioned, I'm also guessing that the organization wanted to keep their identity as a rough physical team with hitters and fighters. That's why Brown > Hansen. You can pretty much tell this was the type of team Gillis was building from the start what with the acquisition of O'brien and Hordichuk. He wanted a team that can protect Lui et al.

i dont know if anyone else is a member, but the NHL has something called the fan face off pannel. basically they send out a survey every month or 2 to registered members. the questions ask all kinds of questions from marketing to players and teams to rules and everything else.

one of the questions from the survey im doing right now asked me why i dont watch every game on CBC. look at the options for reasons

i mean in his rookie season he popped in 12 goals in his first 20-25 games, i think it was most among rookies or atleast top 3, so he would of been a shoe in for the young stars game, but he went on a slump and they sent him down to the AHL. Just like Hansen so it seems
