apparently Grabner was just sent back down according to the team1040

AsBannedAsItGets 02-26-2009 12:09 PM

Good deal for penns. Kunitz thrives off having good line mates. He could really help pittsburgs offense.

Grandmaster TSE 02-26-2009 12:23 PM

with whitney now, i'm pretty sure the ducks are gonna lose either pronger or neidermayer

Durrann1984 02-26-2009 12:30 PM

can we pick up pronger haha

Tim Budong 02-26-2009 12:47 PM

pronger would cost us a whole team...
bwahaahahaha
but who knos.....did ducks gave fair market value for Ryan Whiteny...but the fact he is a 26yr old D, things look bright in te future

The Montreal Canadiens have traded Steve Begin to the Dallas Stars for defenceman Doug Janik.

The 30-year old Begin played in 42 games this season for the Canadiens, and recorded 6 goals and 4 assists. He is in his 9th season, having begun his career with the Calgary Flames before being picked up off waivers by the Canadiens prior to the 2003-04 season.

The native of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec had a career-high of 23 points in 2005-06.

"Steve is a gritty, honest player with a very strong work ethic," said Stars Co-General Manager Les Jackson in a statement. "He's good on the penalty kill and he is a competitor in every sense of the word. We think he'll be a very good addition to our group as we continue to fight toward the playoffs."

Tangradi is a good prospect. He is the same size as Malone and plays the samy style. A tough power forward with offensive skills. Give him a year or two and you'll see him playing the wing with Sid. Tangradi >>> Any Canucks forward prospect right now. Anaheim's prospect pool just got even thinner with this trade.

He is a good prospect but I wouldn't say he is better then Hodgson.

punkwax 02-26-2009 01:52 PM

I have a bad feeling Ohlie will be part of the Canuck's negotiations for a deadline trade...

Hondaracer 02-26-2009 01:55 PM

wonder if buffalo will grab gerber

Harvey Specter 02-26-2009 02:56 PM

Looks like Grabner won't be playing because Demitra is back.

trancehead 02-26-2009 03:02 PM

lol way to tug on Grabners dick Gillis.
I wonder what Anaheim's asking price would be for Pronger or Niedemayer now that they have Whitney.

Do you doesn't Ohlund have a NTC?

And yes, he does have a NTC on his contract.

willystyle 02-26-2009 03:38 PM

I would not be surprised if Ohlund gets traded by deadline.

REPORT: CANUCKS' OHLUND PREPARED TO TEST MARKET

It looks as though Canucks' defenceman Mattias Ohlund will be testing the market this summer.

According to TEAM 1040 Radio in Vancouver, talks between the unrestricted free agent and the Canucks have broken off.

"I feel an excitement I haven't felt in a long time and sometimes the unknown is pretty appealing to you," Ohlund told TEAM 1040 radio in Vancouver. "I've been here for a long time and it's been a great 11 years and if it's meant to be, it's going to continue. Otherwise I'm more than happy to move on.

"I want to be here if it's a good fit for myself and my family and the Canucks. If not, it's time to go," said Ohlund, who has spent his entire NHL career with Vancouver. "It's not hard at all - it's actually pretty exciting not knowing what's going to happen here in the future."

After Ohlund wraps up this, the final year of a contract that is paying him $3.5 million this season, the 32-year-old Swede will be a highly sought free agent. Ohlund's agent J.P. Barry has said contract talks with the Canucks will be re-started after season's end, a sentiment echoed by his client.

"To be honest, I think the most likely scenario is we'll play this year out and see what happens here and in the off-season and summer time," Ohlund told TEAM 1040. "And I'm sure at some point it's going to be addressed."

Ohlund has had a large impact on the ice for Vancouver since breaking into the league in 1997-98. He has played 748 games for the Canucks - which places him fifth all-time in games played for the franchise – and at 319 points, Ohlund is just two points away from becoming the team's all-time scoring leader as a defenceman.

Ohlund was picked 13th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, the Canucks' first selection that year.

dealing him would hurt this club imo

Harvey Specter 02-26-2009 04:55 PM

I suspected Ohlund would be leaving.

Durrann1984 02-26-2009 05:39 PM

we better go all out this year then

Shane O’Brien has no interest in beating the Tampa Bay Lightning when they take on the Vancouver Canucks on Friday at GM Place — he wants to anihilate them.

“I want to beat them 10-0 if we can,” said the Canucks defenceman, who was obtained from the Lightning in early October along with forward Michel Ouellet for defenceman Lukas Krajicek.
LOL o'brien speaks his mind for sure!

Quote:

“There’s no hiding that I was upset when I left there. I thought I’d found a home in Tampa, but I didn’t think the new management there gave me a chance. They saw me play one NHL regular season game. There’s nothing I’d rather do than prove to them that they made a mistake.”
Quote:

“You’ve got to have the right group of guys and let them mature together. I think maybe that’s why Tampa’s struggling a little bit. They never let the team come together.”
LOL the first time i heard a hockey player talk shit about their old team haha

Armind 02-26-2009 05:49 PM
