Can't wait till colouring and shading. It's weird... I didn't know I'm ticklish there. It hurt but it tickled more. Hurt so bad around collar bone and armpit; I felt it in my teeth.

Got out the hospital last week. Just started my 4th treatment plan. Had my spleen removed. More Radiation up next. Still here Still fighting. Feeling like the fucking Terminator. Making an appointment with Jesse Strong next week for a lettering forearm sleeve. Decided to say F it and get tattooed regardless of treatment or not. Much Love.

What reasoning is there behind the choice of which arm you pick to put your sleeve on?

For me it depends what other work you have if you trying to stay in certain styles themes. Trying to plan out future work etc. other than that totally random. Usually asked at time of tattoo and just decide right or left arm.

Gonna ride out to monkey king tattoo tomorrow with the gf if they are open. Want to check out their place and see what Jeff Tam's waiting list is like (I assume many many MANY months). A friend pointed me in his direction and my god, his work is perfect for what I'm looking for

How did it go? I remember hearing that it was like a 2 year wait

320icar 09-13-2015 04:47 PM

Didn't head out as i ended up getting some food poisoning. I heard it was about a 2 year wait as well. I'll head out there this Friday with my gf. The wait is probably long as hell but I don't mind. I'm not in a huge rush, it will give me time to save more money.

Hondaracer 09-13-2015 05:41 PM

2 years? really? the guy is good, but not 2 year good imo.

guess it is what it is when people want to stay local and get quality ink

SkinnyPupp 09-13-2015 07:47 PM

Monkey King is one of the most popular artists in Vancouver, his name comes up all the time. Not surprised by the huge waiting list, but remember there are quite a few very talented artists in town!

I would like to see more names get brought up in this thread, so if you have any post them!

anybody travelling out of the city to get their tattoos done??
theres an artist i really want to get work done from. he's probably my fav on ig: frank_222 / khuong durama
i really like that his art is versatile and bold. especially when it comes to the jap style

question: i have work done on my back but it's not 100% complete . . been about a year and a half almost. is it bad if i want another artist to finish it off by adding stuff on? lol

Hondaracer 09-14-2015 09:22 AM

I'm considering going to either Cali or Vegas in the next few years

Nikko Hurtado, Brian Gonzoles, Bryan Ramirez, Fernie Andrade, Robert Pho

Basically all guys who kill it in black and white. Want to start a half sleeve of older roman/Greek sculptures/figures

I have done some traveling for the purpose of tattooing. One word of advice is to plan ahead. plan it so your tattoo session is near the end of the trip. Get plenty of rest the day before your actual session.

And going to any artist to finish another artist's work is generally frown upon. If you are really set on it do make sure you let the artist know, many are not cool with it. You don't want to travel all the way there, surprise the artist with previously uncomplete work that you want him to complete. You will end up coming home empty handed and without your deposit.

Not planning on going any time soon, but I definitely want to go to Korea to get some work done by horikuni

Jun's stuff is excellent but i think he's super hyped and super long wait/tones of $$$

Some of the other guys I mentioned are pricey but they seemingly are always taking on work. I think I could get in with some of them within a few months as opposed to years with Jun Cha

What antibacterial soap are you guys using during the healing process? Can't seem to find a unscented one.

westopher 09-28-2015 12:35 PM

Use dove unscented regular soap.
