I love asian-styled tattoos. Am thinking of getting a sleeve soon.

He's currently booking for sept/oct but a spot opened up in march so i'm getting my outline done then finishing it in september

The_Situation 03-08-2015 05:49 PM

Just finished shading. It's fucking more painful

white rocket 03-08-2015 06:45 PM

Depends if your artist jumps all over the place. Mine does that due to color placement so each spot he hits doesn't get used to the sensation then it's off to another sensitive spot. Kind of annoying but then I remember that if it didn't hurt then every clown would have one.

Outline = incision
Shading = road rash

ah the tattoo show is coming around again.hope to see james tex come back again.

Question for the ink veterans here. I'm thinking about getting a bull/ox sleeve, preferably Asian influence since I was born on the year of the ox. Who are some artists I should check out?

Thanks

alwayslive 03-11-2015 09:24 AM

horiryu for a really traditional irezumi style, jeff tam for a more chinese style, for more neo japanese theres guys like trevor mckay at two tides and jesse at blackwater

The_Situation 03-11-2015 01:47 PM

I think some parts of the shading are starting to scab.. i hope this wont end up busted. should I not scrub myself in the shower with my fingertips anymore and just let the water wash me off? I dont think its just peeling since its only been 3 days

white rocket 03-11-2015 02:00 PM

^^that's normal. It's just the scabbing that's flaking off. The ink underneath will remain. Don't pick at it or scrub hard; just let it fall off on it's own. Just like any other scab.

Ok hopefully. Thanks. It just shocked me since the outlining took 5 days before anything started to happen to my skin.

Check out the tattoo faq in this subforum. It has an inventory of all the great artists in Vancouver. Check out their portfolios to see which artist has the style that you are looking for.

The outline is usually deeper so it takes longer to get to that stage. Whereas shading is a bit shallower so the process begins quicker.

alwayslive 03-19-2015 07:35 PM

damn, shaved my leg in preparation for my appointment and i got major razor rash LOL what do I do?

Btw, the pharmacy that I work at makes a numbing cream in house with 20% benzocaine 6% lidocaine and 5% tetracaine which is the strongest numbing cream you can buy OTC. We do have quite a few clients that are tattoo artists too, what are your thoughts on the creams? Has anyone here used any for harder spots? Do you think it would take away from the quality of the tattoo?

Wasn't asking for myself, was just seeing what I should tell the customers haha, some people need the creams for really tough spots like armpits!

I don't believe this at all. Some people just have higher pain tolerance than others.

Lidocaine changes the texture of your skin making it harder to get color in

Exactly, those people shouldn't get tattoos ;)

If you can't take the pain, don't get one. :thumbs:

Numbing cream works for your vagina as well.
