Hi Guys

Im looking to pickup a blackberry bold used soon. Could anyone give me any tips or things to look out for before I buy the phone?

Such as locks, or pins or w/e? its gonna be my first blackberry so I wanna just make sure Im not getting ripped off. Thanks!

I asked this too when I was about to purchase mine. Ask the seller if he can tell you the IMEI if hes a far drive away. The guy I bought mine off of gave it to me no problem and I called Rogers. Call 1888 Rogers1 to verify the IMEI. As long as they check out fine on their end its good. He didnt need to check the PIN though. As soon as I picked it up I called in again to erase his email info from the PIN and I was good to go. Theres a good chance hes not going to give out the IMEI over the phone so the next best thing to do is meet up at a Rogers store (like Draft pointed out earlier) and get them to verify it.

On a side note. I updated to .247 as well, Ill see how it turns out. I finally bought BerryBuzz today just for the LED alerts. Soo much better than a boring red blinking light. are there any lights i should be looking for to confirm that its charging?

i have the thunder sign through the battery on the homescreen. but its just taking forever to charge up

the lightning bolt is the only thing that says its charging

well its abt a solid 1hr+ and ive only hit 15%

it took almost an hr to get it out of "red zone" because the previous onwer forogt to charge it and it just hit 15%

if this keeps up, u might have to buy a new battery

Usually takes 1.5 - 2 hours for my phone to fully charge from the red zone.

if you want oem, then order it from the blackberry site
if you don't care, pretty sure theres cheaper alternatives

i would personally get the real deal, don't want no name brand shit messing up my phone

will unlocking the bold void the warranty for rogers?
what benefits does unlocking the bold do besides restricting you to one network?

just fyi, maybe some of u can try this,
i called rogers for our business account, we have a few curve, to have one repaired under warrenty. it had been over 2 weeks, since they said they will send a new one out.. anyhow, i called and told them its been 2 weeks. and the client is going to travel. they sent me a bold instead. no extra charge

Anyone know a good way to smooth out the leather cover so it feels like the leather on an aged basketball's leather?
New leather is nice, but semi-worn out leather is nicer, imo.

Photoshop for now. Touch screen - bold like device code named "Magnum" is present in RIM's late 2009/Early 2010 road map though.

i just ordered all the black pieces to black out the bold it includes the non-leather back! Can't wait to get it! also have the invisshield ready for it. I hope having the the bold w/ the invis shield will still fit in my crystal case!
