Yeah hes right. I bitched since it didnt track properly when you scroll a certain way. I think it was the rollers. So I asked and they said they had problems with the first batch of coloured balls. Then I requested a black ball and they sent it np and they paid for shipping ofcourse. Then the next ball is like the SAME thing and it has this dent on it and it wud totally screw up the tracking. I finally got the other black replacement today and its perfect. Identical to my buddys Curve ball with like the textured feel. I got my buddy his replacement purple ball too and its excellent. Just make sure when they ship you the ball its got a textured feel and not waxy. As for local sellers I saw some on craigslist but theyre charging rape amounts. Shippings only 5$ from CNN anyways, not too bad. Team up with your buddies and shippings still 5$.

Can someone check their Bold to see if yours does the same thing as mine:
Under Mobile Network Options ->Data Services

If you turn that off (I'm trying to turn off data on my Berry), do you also lose your WiFi connection also?

I'm trying to figure out a way where I can use my US SIM for US calling, and restrict data to only WiFi whenever I'm near a hotspot/WiFi access point. Right now on my BB, it appears to "turn off" WiFi when I turn data off so I can't use the browser, or get any emails while the data services are disabled. (the WiFi icon dims instead of stays lit when I turn off Data Services)

Does it do the same for everyone else?

Mine does the same thing. I was trying to use wifi when I was a Vegas a few months ago and I couldn't get it to work when data service is off.

I think the reason why emails and browser won't work only on wifi is it has to go through BB servers. With no data plan it can't access the servers.

Try using a Opera Mini. I never got a chance to try it.

Opera Mini didn't work when I tried it. Seems somewhat silly that WiFi would be disabled when you disable the data portion of the wireless network. I'm guessing RIM probably put that in at the wireless carrier's request so they wouldn't lose revenue from BIS/BES services. Most other smart phones would allow Wifi only, but apparently not the Blackberry. I guess I just got to live with no wifi or data when roaming.

I can do no radio and wifi only with no problems on my bold.

Interesting. I guess I'll just do that instead. Seems quite strange it would work by disabling Mobile Network and not by turning off data services but it achieves the result I want. :)

Thanks TekDragon!

if your phone is still under warranty, they will fix it for ya. i don't see why not.

Graeme S 04-30-2009 09:27 PM

Unless you unlocked it. Rogers might not warranty it then.

New update... http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Alby 05-01-2009 01:54 PM

that has been out a while ago and i've been running it for couple to several weeks now. it has just been released as an official OS by vodafone. best version so far.

Graeme S 05-01-2009 08:36 PM

Just installed it, I don't see any major differences, but we'll see how it goes. I tend to use 3G fairly often, and have latitude running in the background. At the end of a long day I'm typically down to 40% or so.

Battery life is pretty damned good considering the use I put it through.

TekDragon 05-03-2009 02:02 PM

I'm finding that it handles app memory better and I have great battery life out of mine now.

I just don't like running beta status OS... I prefer to wait til they become official. Even if it's the same thing. That's just me though.

to each their own. but i don't think rogers will be releasing an official version anytime soon. as long as the version you are running is working for you, its all good.

it's pretty crazy how they sync up the events, birthdays to your calendar...even their profile pictures to your phone as well!
