You should transfer them to Langara. Or print out your transcript and show it to admin office?

Zoidberg 06-28-2012 10:29 PM

Recon604, request an official transcript from UBC to be sent to Langara. In the mean time, if you need prerequisites before your registration date you should ask for course overrides from the professors - promising them that you will have the prerequisites ASAP.

Trust me, you DON'T want to get stuck on the waitlist for the majority of your courses. I was actually in the same position last July in this thread :okay:

Recon604 06-29-2012 09:26 AM

Langara. Student Services: Counselling: University Planning: Biology, Faculty of Science, UBC
^ im currently following this guide. I have already tooken have the courses at ubc and got like 60% for them.

I need to take chem 123 which I think is equivalent to langara's chem 1220. I have already taken its prereq. chem 121 (chem 1120 for langara). I should be able to skip Chem 1120 and take chem 1220 if I show the admin office my UBC transcript?

fuhkyu 06-30-2012 11:39 AM

You can also email or call the department head along with the prof asking for an override. I never had any problems with getting overrides granted at Langara. I just did a screen shot of my UBC transcript and was allowed. Then again it depends on the prof/dept head as well

depends on your prof for online really...I took it with Wilkins and she marks like a bitch for our weekly discussion questions. My friends in the other online class and she gets 5/5 each week. all tests are MC though so that is saving me

PornMaster 06-30-2012 06:47 PM

if you want a pass, do online

if you want an easy A go to class

tubby 07-01-2012 01:56 PM

Online is Deveau F - has anyone ever had he/she before?

JordanLee 07-01-2012 02:22 PM

If Linda Alexander still does online classes (BUSM 2200/2300). Do them!

Zoidberg 07-01-2012 06:57 PM

^ True story. Got an A+ with minimal effort.

I had Izapadnah for macro last semester at 8:30. I found him pretty good at explaining and his tests weren't that hard. He pulls old questions from his previous tests as examples and goes through a handful before a test. He teaches fairly close to the textbook. The final was 3 pages and took me 30mins to do. I found him better at explaining than Giovanetti... Only thing I didn't like was the language barrier sort of... he had a way of wording things that is very confusing sometimes. Aside from that, most of the material from his lecture is thrown onto the tests.

too lazy to read through the thread...
what electives should i take?

MATH 1171 or 1173 or 1253
MATH 1174 or 2311

between all of that, which less challenging? math is my weakest subject.. :fullofwin:

Francesca is super, super easy. Her classes feel like you're back in elementary school or something with her "activities". But I guess online won't have those things, so it'll be easy without all the silly activities.

Those are not electives, they're core math courses. Business majors take 1174, whereas Science majors take 1171, I think 1173 for compsci and I believe 1253 requires 1153 and does not transfer well to UBC.

Anyone took the Database Developer from continuning education? Thinking of taking this program. Seems pretty short and is hella cheaper compare to what BCIT have to offer.

BaoTurbo 08-22-2012 01:10 AM

Bump for coming school year

Razor Ramon HG 08-22-2012 09:13 PM

Good-bye Langara. Working this semester, then going to Korea for nine months before heading into BCIT next fall.
