Hey guys, for those that are transferring to UBC. I have a few questions. https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/vancouver/pos...073C2D6F4324DB So right now I have 39 credits. According to the site above, admission will be calculated using the most recent 30 credits. Since my first two semesters at Langara were horrible, I plan on getting 12 more credits (1 more semester at Langara) so UBC will only look at the more recent ones. Now with that said, is there any requirements to transfer into the Arts faculty? I heard you need a math and English course in order to transfer, but the UBC transfer site doesn't mention that at all. https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/vancouver/elas.ezc Then I also have to meet one of the eight requirements above. I didn't do well in English 12 or on the provincial exam, so is there some test I have to take to prove my proficiency in English? |
^LPI can be one i think. |
i dont think u need math. i know you will need two english equivalent courses. You will also need to complete the LPI (minimum of lvl 5 on essay) or go to adult school and retake english 12 (get an avg above or =75%, this is including the provincial exam) If your first two semesters were bad, just show better marks on the next semester. They just want to see improvement. anyways call UBC advising undergraduate office for questions. Langara advisors are pretty fckin useless. |
Is there a lunch thing for RS ppl at langara? I would be pretty interested haha |

Easiest way is to take the LET (Langara English test?) and take 2 English courses there. Because if you take the LPI, you still need the 2 courses in order to graduate, and this is a good way for you to boost your GPA and hide the not so good semesters. Not sure how other English teachers at Langara are, but I had Lukes and she was pretty lenient. She has a set format to follow and as long as you can back up your points logically, you're set for an easy B/B+. |
arts (75-80%+) is harder to get in compare to commerce (65%) Im doing english calculus and both econ at vcc... since langara is very hard to get high marks for those classes Anyone took Written Communications and got 70%+ pleas recommend all the teachers i see for upcoming semester has rating of 2.1 or lower on ratemyprof.com |

Arts is higher 2.5gpa is 65% for commerce http://www.sauder.ubc.ca/Programs/Ba...n_Requirements Average required to be considered for admission to Year 3 After you finish the second year of a Commerce Transfer Program at a BC College, you must meet a minimum overall average of 2.50 (calculated on the last 30 credits of your coursework) and a minimum core average of 2.50 on all your Commerce courses (including ECON 201 and 301 or their equivalents). Razor: If you are planning to get into UBC i strongly suggest you go talk to an councilor. Once you get to know them and you tell them your plan keep it a process of seeing them once a month. Even thought if you get 65% at minimum average for transfer. They will do whatever they can to get you in. This is call sucking up to the councilor :lol |
Just a quick question, has anyone taken the LET (Langara English Test)? Any feedback or things to prepare for? |
