studying :fuckthatshit:

but I agree, library is loud. I'm surprised people don't study in empty classrooms. I'm usually in the b building myself.

Everyone ready for finals?

Gilgamesh 04-15-2013 11:12 PM

^ Same, I like studying in the empty classrooms. It was really deserted from Friday-Monday. but my last in class exam is tomorrow. I do not mean to be a creeper, but were you on the top floor on Friday?

Kayci 04-16-2013 12:03 AM

haha ! nope, i wasn't at school Friday. Good luck tmr (today)

Anyone familiar with the book buy back program?

dyan 04-16-2013 10:18 PM

^

Don't do it. Sell it in person. Sure it takes more time but you get a lot more money back.

A book I bought from the bookstore ($50) they tried to buy it back for $7. Ended up selling it for $30. :fuckthatshit:

whEEls7 04-22-2013 05:55 PM

shiiet. Waitlisted like fuck. Worried I won't get enough credits for my loan.

Anyone have experience with the summer registration period/registration periods in general?

All my waitlists are between 30 and 10 and im in 0 courses yet.
Apr 27 reg period 2 begins (What the hell is that)
May 10 Last day to add courses without instructor permission.

Anyone have any idea what waitlist # right now i'd be safe at in stuff like math, english, cpsc etc?

Jayboogz 04-22-2013 07:09 PM

youll know soon after period 2, then u get to see how far up youve moved. If you havent moved up to at least under 10 after that, the chances are slim.

You just gotta rmb to keep checking back to keep your place in line, thats where alot of people forget

If it's just like intro calc or english or compsci or something, is there any kind of special admittance if I beg the prof/teacher to sit on the floor or something LOL?

I will sit in a god damn corner for all i care, as long as im in the class.

Also how many LANGARA credits for full time study loan? What happens if I only have 3 courses (9 credits) but I have a full time loan.

Kayci 04-22-2013 08:57 PM

I believe 9 credits count as a full time student.

Doubt the prof will let you in, usually people will drop or forget to confirm their spot on the waiting list so you will probably get bumped up. You'll find out in a few days! I think tomorrow is the last day to pay so....people will be dropped

KingDeeCee 04-22-2013 09:13 PM

Actually, someone in my physics class last sem was 15th, was the only other person on the wait list that showed up besides me and the teacher let him in. It doesn't hurt to go in and ask the teacher unless you value your time.

you sure? that's only 3 courses. I thought fulltime was 4 but im not sure. They say 60% of a full course load and 18 credits are max at langara. 60% of 18 rounds to about 11

ps where can i get some good knee pads, im gonna need em to get the courses i need

Kayci 04-23-2013 09:04 AM

Full Time/Part Time Definition

Langara defines a full course load as 15 credits or more. Full-time study is defined as nine credits or more. Part-time study is defined as fewer than nine credits. Please refer to scholarships regarding eligibility requirements that may include alternative definitions.

But like KingDeeCee said, just keep attending. You may get lucky.

Knee pads? Any sporting store should sell them. You can give motorcycling gear stores a try too

beginning to be doubtful ;(

I don't see why I got waitlisted so hard. It's summer, who the hell wants to go to school during summer? I joined right when my activation time was and still urrverything was waitlisted

Kayci 04-23-2013 09:11 PM

^ Have faith! Lots of people don't pay and forget to confirm. Wait lists are long because there are too many students. Maybe take an elective first! Helps rack up some credits so your registration time won't be as long. Out of curiosity, which courses are they?

eng comp sci math french phi

whEEls7 04-24-2013 04:00 PM

Oh, great. The new math course I just qualified for after writing the MDT has a waitlist of like 26.

This is ridiculous. Are there any other schools that don't have this kind of saturation? I would say this is from a lack of preparedness, but when there's a demand of 150+ qualified people for two classes with 30 people max each class, it's ridiculous.

Is there even any chance of getting into a course with 26 people on each waitlist right now?
I'd be willing to sit under a table and sweep the floors after. Would a prof allow me in if I fulfill those conditions?

Gilgamesh 04-24-2013 04:05 PM

I would just remain on the wait-list....profs may let in students if you're in top five, but even then it's a long shot. If I get your story correct, you're taking five courses? If so, I'd imagine comp sci having a large degree of difficulty, so you may be better off sticking to 4 courses.

whEEls7 04-24-2013 04:08 PM

I'd take 6 if I could but right now I am in ZERO courses.

Waitlist is as follows:
Compsci (Programming and general, two diff courses, cpsc 1050/1040. Would prefer to take just 1040): 8th and 17th
English: 6th. Backup english waitlists are 12,13,14
Math: 26th
French: 22nd
Phi: 37th (Really don't care about this)

I don't think I'll get anything but cpsc and english. Disappointing.

Mike Oxbig 04-27-2013 12:26 PM

How many people here actually go to the class even if they are 5+ above the waiting list?

whEEls7 04-27-2013 06:08 PM

2-3-14-19-25

for my waitlists t_t

Does anyone know if there are courses not covered under student loans? I put Arts/Science general program

Jayboogz 04-27-2013 07:29 PM

From my experience, it seemed like the last semester I was at Langara (January 2012-April 2012), the school seemed much more strict with regards to the waitlist. I took all business courses, and the profs told the students that the faculty of management (not sure about other courses), would NOT allow any students (even if you're #1) to be allowed in unless someone drops the course. I'm not sure if this applies to other courses, but you should definitely keep trying.

TOS'd 04-28-2013 04:19 PM

For the business department, they have a strict rule they must follow about not going above 40 students.
