it can take a few days or a few weeks. it really depends on how they'll get around to getting things done

as for the interview questions.. the typical interview questions such as.. what you can do for the company, why you applied, what makes you better than the rest, situational questions, etc.

Bankai 02-02-2009 08:56 PM

bsoni was on the same interview day as me and she got a call already today. doesnt that mean im not short listed or do they do a random process? i dont know whether to keep hoping, the fact that a fellow interviewee in my group interview got a call already while i havent.

call 604-629-3300 and look for the person who called u. if this is the first time shaw is calling u (in other words, phone interview) then ask to be transferred to William or Ron or Christina from the employment interview department. They are the supervisors that oversees employment.

I work at Shaw. I'm in CSR - Sales department. We take billing calls as well. The commissions is mad money. You get an average LOW of $600 and some people get around $1200 a month just from commissions! Although, for Customer Credit Area, they do get a higher hourly wage, also they make a percentage of the money they get back from delinquint accounts.

bsoni 02-05-2009 05:15 PM

got the job.
exciting!
hahahah

sexyflanders 02-05-2009 08:27 PM

^omg congrats!

I got a phone interview today while I was going to school so I'm sure I didn't answered the questions perfectly. The guy said he'll call within a week for a second interview if they decide to further pursue my application. Is that how it is, or do they usually set up an in person interview right after the phone interview? Well considering my school situation I sure they won't want to deal with it...

BILLING!? Ha, you guys get like $17 an hour but you don't make any commissions and you deal with irrate customers all day. You guys were hired so that us sales representatives don't need to waste time dealing with billing. Nonetheless, you make a little more than us on an hour by hour basis.

Anyways, I am in the technical department... I also take sales calls every week because its not so busy in my department anymore. Its pretty easy once you get the hang of it... Nothing super complicated, mostly problem solving and analyzing issues. I do get jackass customers from time to time and I used to get REALLY offended, but now I got used to it because I am still in a higher position no matter what. If they are willing to cooperate and listen to me I can do my best and resolve their issues, otherwise I just have to log that customer is being a bitch and hang up the call :D

bsoni 02-09-2009 05:13 PM

so far....its awsome

shaw is a great company to work for. i've put in 3 years with the company. the benefits are awesome.

stock options are a huge plus. plus shaw matches your contribution (upto 5% of your pay) by 25%.

you are given 1000 shares spread over 4 years. 250 shares per year.

you are eligible for 2 bonus' per year.

raises are given every year in sept.

7 sick days a year.

Underdawg 02-10-2009 07:50 PM

Yup, and just for a comparison: Telus/Bell laid off like how many people in the last few months.. like 1000+? Their overall profit dropped majorly. Also for the Telus Christmas party you had to dish out like $35 per ticket for very limited seatings... and Shaw xmas party? you and a guest free... 2000+ people attended... That just tells you how the company is doing right now.

LOL better than eBay which had no xmas party at all because they were too "poor" I'm so glad I left after xmas for another call centre. I'm already laughing that I get 4 weeks of sick days + 3 weeks vacation per year + a wicked opportunity imo

Wow 02-13-2009 07:10 PM

I guess noone is in field support or dispatch department. Shaw is a good company to work for and great benefits too. There are always opportunities for you to try and move up! I am happy to work at Shaw :)

Sounds like you bitch ass needs to get owned some more. I worked at shaw nanaimo and I quit. You don't know anything about what really goes on at shaw so you can open your eyes or keep your mouth shut. Sounds like you are one of the "drones" that they refer to. Enjoy points for flaming. Keep up the attitude here and I will see you out the door.

PS I don't work for any company... I own a company.

Anyways, back to topic.

haymura 02-15-2009 08:53 AM

Underdawg and Sharkbite, with all do respect just let it be. There's no need to argue about who is right and who is wrong. There's no wrong or right answer as to whether its fun and nice to work for Shaw. Some people like it, some dont. Its not for everyone but for the ones that like it then ok, they like it. Your experience with shaw, being a drone, is understandable and its your own opinion but for others maybe working as a drone suits them.
There's no point fighting over it or giving points for flaming or bitchin about it or whatever! Underdawg has his opinion and Sharkbite has his. Great! but leave it as an open opinion and not cat scratch each other on RS.
