There's no point fighting over it or giving points for flaming or bitchin about it or whatever! Underdawg has his opinion and Sharkbite has his. Great! but leave it as an open opinion and not cat scratch each other on RS.

I totally agree with you. I stated my opinion and got flamed by useless comments. So points stay. Last you will here from me on this subject.

Sorry I was being an ass about it. I wasnt posting the nicest comments recently so dont take it seriously Shark.

how long is the commute if your driving to shaw/burnaby from clearbrook everyday ? or is it worth just driving to surrey and taking skytrain ??

but i dont trust leaving my car parked at surrey for any given amount of time near the skytrain central...

JesseBlue 02-17-2009 05:43 PM

i feel like working for shaw...i work in tech support and theres only two of us taking phone calls, answering emails, and other work to improve our products and i feel like we don't get treated fairly and with any respect...worse...even though theres only two of us...its one person per product line (i have about a dozen product lines and the other has about the same)...
any openings for tech support? :(

Underdawg 02-17-2009 07:11 PM

Yes they are still hiring!

Yup, and just for a comparison: Telus/Bell laid off like how many people in the last few months.. like 1000+? Their overall profit dropped majorly. Also for the Telus Christmas party you had to dish out like $35 per ticket for very limited seatings... and Shaw xmas party? you and a guest free... 2000+ people attended... That just tells you how the company is doing right now.

telus always charged for their weak ass xmas party. thats why i never went. as for the lay offs, thats mostly the landline and smaller departments. the client care for telus mobility is fine...for now

When me and a bunch of people got hired in technical department we were all part-time with 6 months probation... HOWEVER we still get full-time hours with some chances of overtime every week. The day you got hired (first day of training class) you are eligible for ALL employee benefits such as discounts, insurance, stocks, etc etc. The only major difference between ft and pt was the paid sick days/vacations and overtimes. It is just their policy to hire you as pt first and move you to ft later.

well you get 2 weeks of sick days every 6 months so 4 weeks in a year total. Starting is just above $22 yo

I have extensive technical support experience but I dont even get a call from them. I do mention in my resume I'm still attending school...People here who have been hired by them do you guys think I should remove the fact that I'm attending school and apply again?

Underdawg 02-19-2009 09:44 AM

Just keep trying. Sometimes it is really a luck thing... A lot of people are going to school and doing part-time there too.

bokyo102 02-20-2009 07:17 AM

just a question, so for CSR Billing you'll get $17/hr but is only part time, meaning quaranteed 20 hrs per week, but in actual working time, how many hours do you really get per week?

40ft e-Peen 02-24-2009 05:04 PM

When they say minimum, they actually want you to work at least 3 days. I work 4 days here and trust me, its hella busy. It's like people don't know what the recession is about. It's the fact that we've made some huge improvements in our internet speeds and our promotions are rocking socks. Shaw high speed internet, 2 months free, 6 months at $19.95?! WHOA!

GOT THE CALL TODAY!! Scheduled group interview for Technical Support, position on March 3rd. Any advice and pointers I could get would be terrific!

Also they said your schedule must be really flexible even if your in school. Does that mean there will be no fixed schedule for you? The recruiter also said I'll be paid 17.50 which I found odd because I thought tech support would get more than CSR's.

don't be afraid to speak up and answer their questions. the group interview is the hardest in my opinion since you have to somehow outperform the other people in the interview process

the base wage is higher for tsr compared to csr

iwantaskyline 03-02-2009 01:46 AM

Does anyone know where I can park? Never been to shaw tower before so I'm pretty clueless as to where I can park.

azzurro32 03-02-2009 05:08 AM

Parking in that area sucks. Very expensive if you go with the meters. There are a few parking lots around there, but again, expensive. Part of the reason I want to work there is its right downtown so its easy to bus there from wherever.

iwantaskyline 03-03-2009 11:43 PM

Got scheduled for a 2nd interview right after the group interview lol.

vinX 03-04-2009 06:12 AM

I applied for a tech support position last month but didn't meet the cut after 2nd interview (group interview), it was a fun experience applying.. I will try again on a different approach.. hopefully will work! hehe ;)

Group interview was tough. If you didn't speak up when the questions were asked they aren't going to call you in for the 1on1 interview. They told everyone they will contact you within 2 weeks after the group interview was finished but right after the test they pulled me a side and scheduled the 1on1 interview lol.

that's a good sign

hopefully you'll pass that and you're set! haha

just finished the 1on1 interview. they said they'll contact me within 2 weeks. does that mean I failed it? lol

Can someone tell me in the group interview do they ask you questions about previous employment experiences or situational questions, like how would you handle this disgruntled customer?, or both?
