I worked as a TSR for awhile. It was pretty good working there and the pay was decent for what you do. There's one thing I definitely don't miss and that is UFC nights.

Can you give an example? Do they just ask questions to the group, and whoever has an answer just speaks up, or is a question directed to a person and they have to answer it?

question:
customer calls in complaining that they've lost 1 hour of cable service due to a problem from shaw and is requesting to have a 30 day credit for the one missed show. you are unable to contact a supervisor to ask for permission. would you give the customer the 30 day credit? why/why not?

they'll either:
  • ask a question and go around the table
  • wait to see who answers the question first by volunteering
  • or just pick on people

iwantaskyline 04-07-2009 05:23 AM

can shaw only monitor flagged sites? anyone here actually get away with browsing?

I would suggest you to stop browsing. They are fucking anal about it. If you are going to do it. At least sit where your back is facing the windows, so you're in the corner. :haha:

in my opinion, i would give the 30 day credit to keep the customer. there's no wrong/right answer, but it depends on how you say it out, haha

i believe another question they asked was..

the saying that goes "the customer is always right". do you agree with it? why/why not?

SmokeyTheBandit 04-17-2009 01:31 PM

in my interview for a tsr they asked me to explain how to draw this image to a customer. they give me a piece of paper with a box and some other objects. you had to explain clearly how to draw this as if you were doing it on the phone.

they will ask you different scenarios, what would you do if

1) customer is pissed off because they are waiting for 1hr
2) they demand a refund
3) they want to cancel
4) this is the 3rd time, fix it

they are gonna ask why do you want to work at shaw, what your've heard etc.

its an easy interview, usually an hour long or so. there is also a test to write, but i think you write that test before they even interview you. its just to see how much you know about pc's and macs.

if you are talking about on the work computer at shaw... EVERYTHING is monitored, certain sites like facebook are blocked. i am sure there are ways around this, but its not worth losing a job over.

people are always watching, and people have been let go for excessive non work related browsing.

How many hours are available for PT? same benefits as FT?

ImportPsycho 04-20-2009 11:15 AM

I didnt' not like group interview at all
they did not have time to give everyone chance to answer questions, although everyone is saying pretty much the same thing...
I would've done better at 1 on 1

their call centre is luxury suite compare to chicken nest at NCO lol

lubbyda 04-20-2009 03:34 PM

how are they with being flexible with scheduling?

I got a call from them today. They asked me about my school schedule and said i'd have to figure that out. Does shaw have some parttime student schedule opportunities?

I wasnt told which position I was being questioned for...

any tips guys?

you dont want to start with a 30 day credit right off the bat. you want to negotiate with the client. offer a free ppv. if thats not good enough, you offer a week, 2 weeks and then 30 days. giving in right off the bat is not good. you'll be looked at as the push over guy who will just give credits like candy.

great answer, its all about negotiation. You have to remember that yes you do want to keep the customer but also think of the companies point of view as well.

if you're looking at a place to work and meet chics, why dont you apply at a shoe store like aldo or a restaurant like joey's tomatoe.

Interview with Shaw on Thurs. June 25th

Hi all.

I have a job interview with Shaw for the TSR position next week Thurs. June 25th.

It's the group interview.
Any tips for me?

I'm doing some interview prep.
What should I wear? (I'm thinking black pants, white long sleeved shirt and tie.)
What type of things will I experience?

Would appreciate a reply from a recent interviewee of shaw.

Thanks.

dont sweat it
no need to dress up
2nd one on one interview is more important
in group interview, they'll ask questions(posted in this thread) and everyone put their hands up and answer
few other questions,
-TSR advised customer to update audio driver to fix sound card problem and now computer doesn't boot after driver update, should he pay for repair?
-what Shaw need to do to stay competitive
-what you look for in a job(benfit, wage, opportunity to grow etc...)

after that tech test on computer

2nd internview is same as anyother CSR/TSR interviews
explaining various exp and situation you and in the past

GL, i failed after 2nd interview:mad:
