Oh and I think I had the worst poutine a few days ago on the BC Ferry haha

The poutine on the ferry isn't even close to the worst. I had it about a week ago on the ferry, and while not the best, was pretty solid. Used White Spot fries (mine were extra crispy which helped keep them from getting soggy), there were ample cheese curds that were not cold, and the gravy, while not deep in flavor was at least not overly salty. I would give it a solid 7/10.

I guess it was a bad draw for me... it was the last ferry back to Vancouver and I guess the lady wasn't in the best of moods, my fries were soggy and the there wasn't enough cheese but not that it mattered cuz it wasn't hot.

Yah sounds like you got a bad batch. I would give it another shot sometime during the day.

I got mine before the ship even set sail, so they had probably just made a new fresh batch of fries for all the incoming customers.

Anyone know if Brados is open on Sundays? I've never been there, let alone go to Commercial Drive.

Anyways, Fresgo Inn restaurant in Surrey has a marginally average poutine. Nothing special, but it's cheaper than New York Fries, and the cheese curds actually end up melting.

IIRC, Brado's is open 7 days a week.

I don't remember a time that I went and it was closed.

I'm really looking forward to there being a Dunn's in Vancouver starting this fall. I have high expectations for them as my sister lives a few minutes away from the one in Laval and the poutine (and everything else) there is super tasty.

I believe Dunn's on Seymour is open, no? I may be wrong. I recall there being a thread & update saying it was open for business.

Brianrietta 07-28-2011 02:32 PM

I'm not sure. Seriously though the bbq gravy + smoked meat on top poutine is to die for.

There is a Food Truck just downstairs of Ebisu on the corner, called Bada Bing. I had the Philly sub and poutine there... wasn't impressed. :okay:

I also gave Fritz another go last night, I'll have to bump it down a notch, Brado's is the clear-cut #2 by default hehe ...

I had la belle for the first time a few days ago... often going to fritz

I like fritz a lot better... I love their gravy.

Now why would you tell me of a place that you didn't think was good? Tsk tsk.. Lol jk...
I'll give it a try. Thanks Deon!
I don't like fritz' fries... They taste... Bland to me? But the dipping sauces definitely make up all the flavors.. Mayo dipped anything is good! Haha

Kitanoya Guu Kobachi has an amazing curry beef poutine. If you haven't tried it, do it. small but holy, it will burn your lips off and taste great while doing so. See those bubbles? That shit is fucking bubbling in that hot stone bowl. Shit is amazing.

Someone's food blog:

Lighting makes it look bad but it is amazing. Just under 8 bucks. Not that most Izakaya places are cheap.
