Back when I was in high school (I went to Britannia) Belgian Fries was absolutely amazing. The quality of fries and customer service was excellent. They always made sure your food was up to expectation and at times, they would give us extra fries to take back to school with us in case we were still hungry.

But over the years, I noticed that the quality of food had something left to be desired. In addition, they stopped caring about whether you enjoyed your food or not. They just wanted you to order, eat, and to leave. I understand that it's a business but come on, without your customers, you wouldn't have business.

Belgian Fries has let me down throughout a number of different occassions. It's no longer on my list of "must go to" places for poutine anymore. Anny's is where it's at for now. Not only does she serve excellent poutine at a reasonable price, her smoked meat sandwiches and Montreal style steamies are delicious! :)

+1 for Fritz because they don't just pile the gravy and cheese on top, they layer it inbetween the french fries

+1 for Fritz.

Got some mad cravings for it now.. :(

^ I really liked the one at La Belle Patatae! Their beastly looking smoked meat sandwich was really tender and delicious too!

I've also had the one at Fritz before too but that was a while ago, if memory serves me correctly it was pretty darn good too (although I was drunk out of my mind at the time lol)
I haven't tried Belgium Fries yet but I plan to in the very near future!
BK would be my choice if I had an instant urge and I'm not in downtown!... it ain't the best but it'll suppress my craving for the meantime!
Costco Poutine was mega-fail compared to any of the above!

I was in a poutine craving phase for the last 3 weeks (not a big fan but seeing this thread got to me) so I planned to go to fritz yesterday but they're closed on Mondays. Checked out Le Belle Patate on Davie. I was amazed at all their choices of poutine. Had the traditional and I thought it was ok. But this is coming from someone who was never a big poutine fan anyways. Deff worth a shot though.

My friend who lived in Quebec said it was really good.

Brado on commercial drive is supposed to be pretty good too.

Supafly 05-21-2010 06:11 AM

went to costcos...in burnaby ( gov't street) and was surprised it was pretty darn good...although you have to ask for half gravy; or else your fries will be swimming and soggy before you can finish.
