went costco today.. the one by bcit and had a poutine. it was meh..

IMO Belgian Fries has the best poutine.

The worst has to be the poutine at Chambar, $9 for a small portion with barely any gravy and shitty fries.

Red Robin poutine sux too. Solid cheese & not enough gravy

Hondaracer 03-25-2009 09:54 PM

where can u buy cheese curds?

im gonna make a good one this weekend

Nismo200SX 03-26-2009 03:31 PM

Went to Burger Heaven in new west, had a breakfast burger to compare it to the red robins royal with the egg in it. and added a poutine to the meal since its only like $2.50 more or something like that.

verdict. Poutine with wedge fries ( they claim their fries are awesome too ) those wedges rank in the bottom of all wedge fries i've ever had and the gravy tasted burnt and the cheese didnt taste too well either. 2 thumbs and 2 big toes down for Burger Heaven.

To top it off The burger was weaksauce too. Made me wish I went to Vera's instead hell even red robin.

LiquidTurbo 03-26-2009 04:03 PM

Hm. Gotta try some DQ poutine..

La Belle Patate

Since no one mentioned it...perhaps it is worth a try!

FRITZZZZ MOFOS

tastes like ass, and they use stylerofoam or however the shit u spell that word. The freaking thing gets melted due to high temp off the fries, fucking melted stylerofoam causes cancer

Is there any place around that makes poutine with REAL gravy? IE: Not the pre-packaged, just add water, reconstituted, salty, shit?

LiquidTurbo 05-05-2010 10:02 AM

OH yes. La Belle Patate..

I recently tried this place and it's EFFING DELICIOUS. Their poutine (I tried the original), is really light, and you can eat lots of it without feel sick afterwards. DEFINITELY recommended!

During the Olympics, Glowbal had a little stand set up on Mainland in front of their restaurant. They served the best poutine I ever had. Crispy fries, tons of cheese curds and a not too salty gravy which they were very generous with.

Not sure if they have this poutine on their regular menu though.

price?

La Belle Patate
1215 Davie St

probably the closest to what you'd find in quebec. but their cheese, is more or less cold when prepared, so when they pour the gravy on it'll won't be melted all the way through. they say it's how they do it in quebec, jury is still out on that one.

if they didn't do that, i'd say they'd be tops, but since they do i'd say the best place is belgian fries. although, if i wanted to feel soo wrong yet soo right, kfc

Annie's in New Westminster has good poutine in my opinion. It is prepared and served exactly the same way as I remember when having it in Montreal and in Quebec City. She's from Quebec too! :)

Vansterdam 05-05-2010 02:00 PM

+1 for belgian fries

and fritz

Belgian Fries? Are you sure? I was there recently and the quality of fries (and overall food) was absolutely terrible.

Hondaracer 05-05-2010 04:03 PM

from memory id say Burger King and KFC rank up there for fast food

both are also better than 90% of the poutine i ate in Montreal, their idea of "poutine" is basically a soup, the only place i had it that was excellent happened to be the Montreal Casino in the food court

its really a hit or miss as sometimes i go the place is super packed and other times there would be noone

LiquidTurbo 05-05-2010 10:03 PM

I think it was $5. Worth every cent. I've had a lot of poutine and I think its the best I've had.

choda 05-05-2010 11:17 PM

2 thumbs down for La Bella whatever it's called, I got the poutine with hot dog and the cheese was still frozen, no flavor, over priced I thought for poutine, gross overall experience. Will definitely not be going back, but I guess someone else had a better experience!

highfive 05-05-2010 11:30 PM

Harvey's poutine is pretty good. Comparable to BK.

If not, go to flying beaver and order fries, cheese curds, and a side of gravy and do it yourself. I did it once, it was fucking awesome.

Whats the addy of this place?

Meowjin 05-06-2010 01:00 AM

Kim Jong Un 05-06-2010 01:04 AM

I like costco's poutine also, but you get sick of it quickly.
