For real? Edler's move looked a lot like the datsyuk's famous move http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZoNt9SoUXQ

Edlers shootout goal was no where as nice as Daysyuk's. Edler has already moved to the right when he did the drag move while Datsyuk made the drag move in front of the goaltender while moving to the right. IMO I think Datsyuk has one of the top shootout goals in the NHL.

With Mathieu Schneider and Pavol Demitra going on long-term injury reserve, the Vancouver Canucks have found wiggle room under the salary cap ceiling.
Schneider confirmed Thursday morning that offseason shoulder surgery will keep the 40-year-old defenceman from opening the regular season on Oct. 1 at Calgary. Although he has been practising, Schneider has not been able to take contact. The news is worse for Demitra, who hasn't even healed enough to practice. Offseason shoulder surgery could keep the winger sidelined until November.
For Schneider, expected to play in the top six and anchor one of the power-play units, his decision didn't come as much of a surprise.
"I'm comfortable with it and we talked about it [Wednesday night]," said Schneider. "I've got to get the shoulder to feel strong enough to play and I'm not ready to take a hit."
A sidelined Schneider will put Shane O'Brien back into the top-six mix with Kevin Bieksa, Willie Mitchell, Sami Salo, Alex Edler and Christian Ehrhoff. A sidelined Demitra will make the second line a bigger question mark with Ryan Kesler wondering if Mikael Samuelsson will be one of his wingers and just who will fill the other void.

Aww poor Dave Scatchard... must be some great irony for that guy that posted earlier about Scatchard tagging his buddy's fiancee that his chance at the team got cut short by a groin injury :D

Agree, I can just watch Datsyuk's shootout move forever.
Edler's move was more like a stall. Waited for the goalie to make the first move and go out of position, put on the brakes, popped it in an open net. He almost got poked checked though.

Datsyuk's just so smooth, it totally makes the goalie look foolish for even trying. No chance for the goalie.
You've seen similar moves to his many times, with the player backhand roofing it. But the way how Datsyuk keeps it forehand the whole time is what impresses me.

I just realized Raymond's spinaround move doesn't maintain a forward motion throughout the whole way. Was the rule supposed to be that you had to be in forward motion the whole shootout or
only until a certain point? I'll imagine it hard to do a 360 spin with a pivot point in motion though.

Hondaracer 09-24-2009 01:54 PM

Datsyuks is still number one, his is nearly impossible to replicate if you play hockey the skating alone involved in that move is insane

What Vancouver fan in their right mind wants to watch their team get punished by the Ducks anyway?

All this shootout talk and no mention of Wolski? This guy is as slick as they come when it comes to undressing goalies and tight stick handling.
