Yeah, AzNightmare is right.

It should be Alternate Captain and not Assistant Captain. It is a pretty common misconception.

Yeah but assistant captain has been so widely used by even hockey players themselves that it has come to be an accepted term as well.

I perfer the terminology of captain as well just for its simplicity. Ask anyone not too well versed with hockey to venture a guess what "C" stood for and what "A" stood for and I guarantee you, everyone will refer to it as "Assistant?"

Using Alternate just makes it seem like, giving a Lot Boy in a dealership the title of Lot Associate. Its more complicated just for the sake of sounding "nicer." Kinda :gay: imo

I personally use "Assisstant" as well, as it always made more sense that they are there to help the Captain like an assisstant, not be (equal) as the other alternative captain.

But I just thought an article written in an official NHL team site would use the official terms.

AzNightmare 10-01-2009 05:51 PM

Is this really gonna start at 7, or 7:30?
I hate it when I wait in anticipation and I get tricked.

How many of you woke up today with a countdown timer in your head... It's almost time.

For some reason.. I want the Leafs to lose. But they're totally deserving of the win in this game.

Komiserek is so aggressive.. Almost like a Bieksa.
