central division would certainly tighten up.

woob 07-01-2009 09:49 AM

...and we'd get stomped even harder in the playoffs

I'm on TSN FA blog or whatever and Darren Dreger says his sources are saying the Chicago - Hossa deal is done.

What do you know? Aside from re-signing the twins, MG is not making a stir.

With only 10.8 mil left, you really need to play your cards carefully. I wouldn't jump the gun so quickly

OH FUCK!

Confirmed. Hossa signed w/ the blackhawks.

After signing big-money free agents like Nikolai Khabibulin, Brian Campbell and Cristobal Huet over the last few summers, the Chicago Blackhawks have kept the momentum going by signing star winger Marian Hossa to a 12-year contract worth $5.2 million a season.

Hossa's story has been well documented over the past year, leaving Pittsburgh after their Cup loss to Detroit in 2008, only to join the very team that defeated them. Then he was forced to watch from the sidelines again, this time as a member of the Red Wings, while the Penguins hoisted the Cup this past season.

After scoring a team-leading 40 goals in the regular season, Hossa's production dropped off significantly during the Red Wings' 2009 playoff run. The 11-year veteran scored just six goals in 23 games, despite matching his season average of over 18 minutes of ice time per game.

Prior to playing in Detroit and Pittsburgh, the 29-year-old was acquired by Atlanta as part of the Dany Heatley trade in 2005.

Originally a first-round draft pick by the Ottawa Senators in 1997, Hossa has been named to five NHL all-star teams and has recorded 339 goals and 719 points in 775 career games.

More details to follow.

12 yrs @ 5.2 per season. Not bad at all. I would've preferred Hossa over the Sedins

After four memorable seasons in Edmonton, goaltender Dwayne Roloson has a new home.

The 39-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the New York Islanders for $5-million.

Roloson, who wasn't the starter in Edmonton at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season, but took control of the starting job and appeared in 63 games for the Oilers, posting a 28-24-9 record with a 2.77 goals-against average and one shutout.

Roloson, who the Oilers acquired at the trade deadline in 2006, made an immediate impact when he arrived, leading the club all the way to Stanley Cup final, which they lost in Game 7 to the Carolina Hurricanes.

After that Cup run, the team locked him up to a three-year deal that recently expired.

In 462 NHL games with the Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild and the Oilers, Roloson has a 167 wins in 462 games. He has recorded 23 shutouts in his career.

More details to follow.

I'm glad the Sedins are back. They would not have looked right in any other team's jersey.

And Ohlund, you will be missed.

kopecky follows hossa to chicago

According to DarrenDreger..

Hossa will make 53.9 mil in the first 8 years and 3.5 mil in the final 4

Hondaracer 07-01-2009 11:13 AM

Hossa to hawks kinda makes them a benchmark team to build towards now, now we need a puck moving defenceman and another top forward to move forward and keep up with the big guns, although Hossa is exactly a game breaker when it comes to crunch time

BTW.. wheres my quotes from the old thread?

im pretty sure I guaranteed them signing long term for under 6.5 :P
