Werd. Tanguay is a bum. He's not the type of player that makes other players better. He needs to play with good players in order to be successful and quite frankly we don't have that somebody to make him an asset to us.

Hell no.

If people here are already ragging on Kovalev, Afinogenov is 10x worse. He's the ultimate example of a guy who could care less about work ethic or winning. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the next guy to bolt to the KHL. Only reason to take him is if he's willing to sign for under 2 mil per season.

Hondaracer 07-04-2009 10:40 PM

So who's the captain of team Canada?

Pratt said that Crosby has to be a serious contender

raygunpk 07-04-2009 10:51 PM

Probably Sakic if he's in.

Razor Ramon HG 07-04-2009 10:55 PM

I'd nominate Sakic as always, but the only problem is if he can play. Otherwise I'd nominate Iginla.

Hondaracer 07-04-2009 10:57 PM

youve got Sakic, Iginla, Doan, Crosby, and Neidermeyer to choose from imo

invader 07-04-2009 11:03 PM

Shane Doan has captain experience.
Hes a solid 2 way player, give him the C and Crosby the A, If Sakic is on the team an A, if not then Iginla.

Hondaracer 07-04-2009 11:06 PM

i dont want to see Doan wear the C in Van

LUUUUUUUU 07-04-2009 11:06 PM

give Luongo the "C"

Not really racist! 07-04-2009 11:14 PM

I'd give it to Iginla.. but thats just me

trip 07-04-2009 11:23 PM

i say no to shane doan and sakics milage is a little high imo

JKam 07-04-2009 11:37 PM

Give it to Iginla! He is the one Flamer that I respect.

ienhz 07-04-2009 11:39 PM

niedermayer or iginla would be my only choices.

choda 07-04-2009 11:51 PM

i would totally go for iggy...i'll never forget the class he showed making the flamers come back out to shake lindens hand on his last name...great classy guy

JulyZerg 07-05-2009 12:00 AM

Give it to Iginla!

murd0c 07-05-2009 12:12 AM

I personally think Crosby has earned the C for team canada yet and if he gets it I shall be pissed off.

I like the way you think. Sakic would be my first choice, if not, then either of those two. I don't think you could find three other guys who embody leadership on that team than those three. If Crosby gets it (which he won't) I'd be pretty choked. He's not a true leader yet, and the only reason he got the C in Pittsburgh is so A)they could sell some more jerseys, and B)so they could add "Youngest Captain in league history" to his soon to be prestigious resume. I think he only beat out Lecavalier by only a few days, or weeks?

goo3 07-05-2009 12:38 AM

Niedermayer - because he's won everything

then Sakic, Iginla.

Yes, that's why teams will front load contracts.

Darcy Hordichuk previously played for Nashville. Tennessee does not tax you on any wages earned so the first season Darcy signed with the Canucks (same year as when he last played for Nashville) he is not being taxed by the Canadian government, but still under Tennessee. When he plays his second season he will start paying taxes therefore the team will pay him more money up front.

Are you saying the players earnings are post-tax?

CRS 07-05-2009 01:51 AM

I'm getting all excited for Chicago's mistake.

If the NHL tries to sweep it away or hide it without any penalties to Chicago, I can pretty much guarantee the NHLPA will file something against it. I would love for the NHL to just go hard on them and essentially make those players into UFA.

Again, if this happens, Gillis should be taking a MAJOR look into players like Barker and Versteeg. I would sign Barker to a LONG ASS MOTHER FUCKING CONTRACT.
