Leafs sign Beauchemin

Quote:

The Toronto Maple Leafs have brought in another defenceman, signing free agent Francois Beauchemin to a three-year deal believed to be in the range of $10 million.

More details to follow ...
Burke must have a trade coming, Leafs have too many defensemen now. Kaberle, Komisarek, Schenn, Beauchemin, Exelby, Finger, Van Ryn, Stralman, White & Frogren.

Intersting how it's only on Sportsnet and not on TSN.

The writing was probably alreadly on the wall - I'm thinking Gillis is looking to make a trade for a Dman with Schneider in the mix. We need another Ohlund like Dman..damn hes gonna be making 5 mill each in his 3rd and 4th year of the deal...that's crazy..

Kovalev signed by Ottawa

As of right now, Canucks have just over $5M in cap space left.
They still need to get the deal settled with Wellwood, but it doesn't look like there is any money left for Sundin.
They also need one more D man unless they plan on playing Nycholat as the #6 d man.

Someone told me Gillis made a $3M offer for Cam Barker and it is up to Chicago to match the offer or else we should be getting him.

Not really racist! 07-06-2009 11:39 AM

yay, SOB is back!

murd0c 07-06-2009 11:50 AM

How much room does chacigo have left for cap space to sign the rfas?

It's do-able.

According to capgeek http://www.capgeek.com/cap_calculator.php?Team=11, they have about $2.5 mil in cap space left after re-signing Eager, Brouwer and Fraser http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotr...nd-fraser.html.

good to see SOB back and i hate to say/see it but it looks like schnieder is getting moved...

Ronin 07-06-2009 12:32 PM

$1.7 is a tad too much for SOB. I would've thought he's be in the $1.2-1.3 range.

Ronin 07-06-2009 12:33 PM

$3m would be market value for Cam Barker. He might've gotten a bit more.

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have signed free-agent goaltender Andrew Raycroft to a one-year, $500,000 US contract.

The 29-year-old Raycroft, who spent the 2008-09 NHL season with the Colorado Avalanche, won the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie while with the Boston Bruins in 2003-04.

Raycroft posted a record of 12-16-0 with a 3.14 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage with the Avs. In 230 career NHL games, Raycroft, has a record of 94-96-16, with six shutouts and a 2.90 GAA and .899 save percentage.

In eight NHL seasons, Raycroft has played for three teams including the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Bruins, who originally selected him 135th overall in the 1998 NHL entry draft.

The 6-1, 185-pound Raycroft was born in Belleville, Ont.

I hope this means Schnieder is on his way out of town for a top 4 defenseman...AND NOT KABERLE PLEASE.

Well at the time of your post that was probably the case but here you ho!

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283892

DAmn I was hoping to land him too

411ken 07-06-2009 12:55 PM

I'd love to see Barker here as I've said before...I don't care if it will cost us our 1st rounder next year as that draft won't be as deep as this one..and plus you can pretty much consider Barker a 1st round pick!

Get 'er done MG!!

murd0c 07-06-2009 01:02 PM

The question is what other teams will be going after barker

Wow, If it happens I'll be glad to say I was wrong.

Harvey Specter 07-06-2009 02:03 PM

I just hope Raycroft doesn't play too many games, he was beyond awful for the Avs.

stuff99 07-06-2009 02:03 PM

Veersteg + Barker would be nice haha

mickz 07-06-2009 02:14 PM

Cory Schneider won't be moved until Roberto Luongo's future is determined.

I could careless about Veersteg.
