Expresso 07-06-2009 02:40 PM

lol @ Chicago!

411ken 07-06-2009 02:52 PM

I can't seem to access the Hawks message boards.. I'd love to see their reaction to this hahaa

Barker for a long term contract..!

Bieksa/Mitchell
Barker/Salo
SOB/Edler

Pretty solid top 6 D right there if we can get him! Either Barker or Kaberle, whoever comes, our D will be good.

trancehead 07-06-2009 02:55 PM

Getting Barker would come much cheaper (if he becomes UFA, or even RFA isnt too bad) but how does he compare to say...Kaberle?

MR_BIGGS 07-06-2009 03:28 PM

Barker had 9 points in 17 games in last year's playoffs...good Canadian boy...if he falls in Canucks lap that would be prime

Hondaracer 07-06-2009 03:30 PM

sorry to sound optimistic again..

but Raycroft is a decent signing as a backup if thats the plan, getting experianced starters is the way to go rather then full time backups like Sandford imo

If a deal involving Schneider comes down you would think it would still be somewhat down the road because perhaps players become more available as teams become solidified?

interesting day

I was thinking that to. A deal involving Schneider would prob come way down the road, or any trade for that matter. Trades don't seem to be happening as often now in the cap era.

MR_BIGGS 07-06-2009 03:42 PM

Depending on where Jonas Gustavsson goes, Canucks may be able to make a deal earlier than later.. When is this guy gonna decide where to play....what's the deal with him> is he suppose to be really good?

BARKER RE-SIGNS WITH CHICAGO

http://twitter.com/darrendreger

Chicago won't have to wait for a grievance to determined Cam Barker's status. He's signed a 3 year, $9.25 mil ext. www.tsn.ca
less than a minute ago from mobile web

murd0c 07-06-2009 04:20 PM

fuck that sucks but U'm not suprised the hawks would be retarded to let barker go.

d1 07-06-2009 04:33 PM

So Versteeg is the odd man out? I can't see them resigning him too with Toews/Kane/Keith to sign next year.

cressydrift 07-06-2009 06:13 PM

CRS will quit life as soon as he hears Barker re-signed with blackcocks.

MR_BIGGS 07-06-2009 08:13 PM

Ronin 07-06-2009 09:00 PM

Barker already resigned. Looks like Versteeg might be gone, though.

goo3 07-06-2009 10:09 PM

Too bad Kaberle's UFA @ end of next yr

shawn79 07-07-2009 12:03 AM

i want kessel on our team.. he was suppose to go #1 overall few yrs back THE AMERICAN PHENOM

Ronin 07-07-2009 01:34 AM

Kessel is an RFA, I think. Make the man an offer at $3.5 for 4 years.

Kessel would not sign that. If he did sign that, Boston would call Gillis and say thank you for negotiating an excellent contract for us.

Harvey Specter 07-07-2009 04:29 AM

The Leafs do have a few good players I wouldn't mind seeing in Vancouver but I don't see the Leafs making any major moves this off season. It was already mentioned on TSN during the draft that the Leafs will have something like $20mil in cap space come next summer and that's when Burke is planning on overhauling the entire roster.

UFA list for 2010 there. Big name is Ilya Kovulchuk. I can see Burkie going hard for him.

He's actually a UFA after the 2011/2012 season.

Exactly and ask him what type of chocolate and roses he likes so he can send them to him..

Kessel will make the big bucks..from who though is the question.

Leafs get Gustavsson

Quote:

Swedish free agent goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has decided to call Toronto home.

Gustavsson, who is nicknamed "The Monster," is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Leafs worth $810,000, including a signing bonus of $90,000, to back up current starter Vesa Toskala.

Hate him or love him... Burke is doing his thing in TO and doing well.
