I was going to say something about Beikshit, but I won't in light of this news. |
Bigger risk than ever resigning mitchell now |
It'll be interesting to see how the management team looks after Mitchell if he can no longer come back 100%. Part of the game I never paid any attention to. He has family to support. What happens in these cases? By that I mean stuff like contractual obligations and whatnot. |

At the end of the day, we're the one's who get screwed with Mitchell's season being done... |
Should we trade Demitra as a rental or use him for the rest of this season? His contract is over at the end of this season, and I doubt he will be getting another contract from us. |

I miss the Canucks, thank god the break is over on Tuesday. |
Vigneault: Still No Timetable On Mitchell Return Feb. 25, 2010 With the NHL trade deadline less than one week away, The Canucks could officially be in the hunt for defensive help. Head Coach Alain Vigneault confirmed today that Willie Mitchell indeed suffered another setback in his rehab from post-concussion symptoms. "I'm really concerned about Willie right now," Vigneault said. "I had a text sent to me by (trainer) Mike Burnstein earlier in the week telling me that he was symptom free and that he was going to follow the concussion protocol.” At the end of January it was reported that Mitchell would re-join the team prior to the Olympics. The shutdown defenseman has been out since January 16th when he was hit into the boards by Penguins superstar Evgeni Malkin. With the calendar approaching March, and just 21 games to go before the playoffs, Vigneault has not ruled out the worst case scenario. "I don't want to presume that the season might be in jeopardy but obviously we're concerned about that. For this to take this long, it's really concerning to us right now.” Mitchell’s previous concussion occurred two seasons ago after a hit by Nashville’s Jason Arnott. He missed just ten games. The possibility of the season being over could also mean the end of Mitchell’s time in Canuck colors. The Port McNeil native is slated to become an unrestricted free agent July 1st. |

ESPN.com takes a jab at Demitra, lol. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4951395 |
I really hope Demitra's play continues with the Canucks. Captain Obvious, I know - but that was the player I thought we had originally signed. If they win Bronze tonight his confidence coming back should be huge. On the other hand, his stock is sure to have risen and he might be good trade bait to package with Schneider. As for Mitchell, what a blow to the Canucks. We certainly miss him right now. I always figured MG would make a move before the deadline, now he really has no choice. Let's see what the man can do. He has yet to disappoint IMO. |

Judging from missing the playoffs in 07/08 because we didn't have a healthy D for the entire season, and losing the CHI on round 2 when we lost Salo, I absolutely think signing Schneider for depth was a brilliant move. I just don't why there was a falling out between the franchise and Schneider. I'm guessing there must've been a huge miscommunication between MG and Schneider about why he was being sought after and the role he was being signed for. Too bad the guy won't play for us anymore because now is exactly when we need him and why we aquired him in the first place. |
