It was Kesler's competitiveness showing. People need to calm down. Sure he's a prick when you meet him in person. But when he plays, he plays for the logo on the front of the jersey. For the olympics, he played for the US, and Luongo was an enemy, and when the season starts up again, he'll being playing for the canucks and Luongo will be a teammate. I respect the man for his competitiveness. These olympics made his stock rise big time. I hope Gillis gets him signed, before he enters the market. His value just went up. How is Babcock going to coach today?? I'd be hungover like a mofo. |

Kesler played his best hockey this tournament, shit-talk or not. As a Canuck he shit talks every single other team. He's a chirper, that's what he does. In the end, though, he's a terrific hockey player and I love having him on the Canucks. The whole "I hate Canada" thing I think has been blown out of proportion... You've gotta have some animosity against the team you're playing against. |
Rumors aside the Canucks are still facing a tough 6 game road trip before they return home and I bet the media will start to focus on the Sedins who didn't have a strong Olympics and some would say didn't really have a strong couple weeks leading into the Olympics. Hopefully the 2 weeks off will pay off and hopefully Demitra can carry his strong play over from the Olympics and the Canucks can end the road trip couple games over .500. |

Canucks easiest game will be tomorrow, and after that man its going to be tough. Like I said before the Olympics, if they come out of the road trip 3-3 I'll be happy. Anyone else think, Gillis might be shopping Demitra right now? His stock his higher now than ever, as he had a great olympics. It's not like we've completely missed him. With Mitchell have post concussion syndrome, we might need to get a top 4 dman. |
i held kesler in higher regard before the olympics, can't lie about that. yes, he's still a canuck but what really bothered me was him digging at the puck and wacking Lu long after the whistle had gone on that one play. Lu was pissed off there too, you could see it in his eyes. but anyways! i too hope that demitra will play like he did during the olympics. hopefully the twins can pick up their game as they didn't seem to accomplish a lot during the last 2 weeks. i'll also admit that i learned to appreciate the blackhawk players (including kane). i hate their team, but i realise how much of a threat they are a lot more than i had previously. |

Was listening to the Team today, one of the hosts was noting how he'd PVRd the game, rewound to catch something Kes said to Luongo... made it out as, "Nice save, Bert." |
Good start for the Canucks, the Avs lost. |

It's just good hard nosed, determined hockey and that trash talking is part of the sport and their competitiveness is well applauded.... that is, until the tables are turned  Kesler's style of play in the Olympics is no different from the style he brings for the Canuck franchise. Kesler has also been trash talking ever since he donned the Orca Jersey; most recently, calling Ladd of Chicago a coward. Funny how local Canuck fans had no problem with his character or style of play before. You all are idiots to think this is only good hockey as long as its only coming from our end. Goes to show some hockey opinions that's peddled around here as expertise are really just hometown bias, nothing more. |
Thank you Noir for posting that! He's simply being a competiter. Fair enough you don't like it, but at least respect it! I heard on the team 1040 that Kesler texted Luongo before the Olympics saying "good luck" and Luongo did not return the sentiments by not returning a text message back. Are we suppose to analyze this now and say there is a problem in the locker room?? We have Kesler who was one of the best players on the US, we have Demitra who was one of the highest scoring players in the olympics and a gold medal goalie. Let's get this season going. Imagine a gold medal in vancouver followed by a stanley cup?? Could it happen? Sure, you get a hot goalie and anything can happen. |
i've never once said i'm an expert. there's a level of respect that comes with the game no matter what team you are on, especially when you're teammates outside of the olympics. play was long dead, that's all i'm saying. obviously you want to crash the net and try to get something through. and it's quite obvious that kesler wouldn't do something to injure lu. if you look at how others played, once the play is dead they stopped. also, you don't need to be an expert to be a hockey fan. |

Kesler did the right thing, by saying goodluck to Lu, and im sure there were moments like this in ALL the games where during the pregame skates, team mates would wish the best out of the competition. No one is a sore loser Quote:

Well for the sake of this season lets just hope there is no riff or beef between the two and hope all this bs was fueled by the media from TORONTO. |

But as an FYI: I quoted your statement with your identity because I wasn't trying to call you out specifically, but instead, calling out a certain type of hockey fandom; whether it be a Canuck, Penguin, Capital, etc. fandom. |
